I had been using the 18” pro launcher with regular tennis balls, which are less than a dollar a ball at Target or free used at tennis courts. But our dog is a toy aussie, 14 pounds (I don’t know how she managed to get her mouth around the big balls, but she loved them!) and I was worried about her getting TMJ or something since we play with balls every day, for at least a half hour. So I looked into the mini ball launchers. At first I got the 25” one which was too long. It would be hard to chuck balls short distances as we walk through the park - would have only been good for the big field. And it looked like it might hurt me to use it - I’m not very big or muscular. So I ordered the 14” which is tiny but does the trick. It throws almost as far as the tennis ball ... MoreI had been using the 18” pro launcher with regular tennis balls, which are less than a dollar a ball at Target or free used at tennis courts. It throws almost as far as the tennis ball pro in the big field, and is easy to control for chucking short distances. Now I just need to figure out the ball situation. Chuckit mini balls (2-inch diameters) are expensive, like $5 each, and we do lose them occasionally down the waterfall or in the blackberry brambles. And the ball that came with it was shaggy after the first outing. She’ll chew the nap off if I let her, and then it’s ruined. So I need to find a source for affordable 2-inch mini balls, preferably in bulk!

I ordered 3 of these because we've had them before but wore them out after years of play. I opened one up and used it for approx 4 days and the ball is already toast. I could tell when we opened it that the ball was different than ones we've had in the past. This was the tennis ball as opposed to the ultra ball that it used to come with. You could see the seam, which I could tell was cheaply made and would not last. Pretty disappointing that half the product is a waste of money!

I expected this to be the quality, Chuck-it ultra ball but instead it was a rubbish tennis (style) ball. Even the dog (Who loves to chase) wont pick it up. The equivalent is available in any cheapie store for a couple of dollars not the $26 I paid!Very disappointed with this product at this price

We’re just bummed. We were replacing one that was lost in Central Park and we forgot what size it was. Turns out the one we lost was only like 18 inches I went to pick this one up (online order and pick up at store) and I realized when I looked at it that it was too big and the woman told me the only thing she could do was give me my money back and make me wait in this super long line for people who want to shop inside the store. and I didn’t wanna wait in a super long line and I was honestly quite bothered because I would’ve let Petco keep the money and just give me the smaller size chuck it launcher but this woman would not do that at the Lexington and 87th Location. She even told me it was the perfect size for my dog but it has little to do with the dog and more to do with the person throwing it. It is hard to use and awkward to use. I would’ve written a better review if I had better customer service. I’m used to the royal treatment from Petco. Was caught off guard with the way this woman treated me.
Might as well order an extra ball or two as the one that comes with it is JUNK. Within three throws, the rubber ball inside separated (clam shell fashion), but the outside felt managed to hold it together long enough to finish playing. It is now in the trash. Now i know why everyone at the dog park has the rubber balls. The tennis ball style is absolutely worthless.
Bought the chuck it sports launcher along with the chuck it whistle balls for my active border collie x . Absolutely amazing!!!!!! This launcher covers so much distance, with the added bonus of the whistle from the ball. My dog Oscar, can't get enough of it. The best combined toys l have ever bought!!!!! Fantastic idea.
While my dog struggles with the concept of returning the ball to me, she absolutely loves this! We visit a huge dog park frequently, and this lets me throw a ball far enough that she really gets to run full throttle! Running is her favorite. Then, she gets to play her second favorite game of "keep away" with the ball. But she will actually let me have the ball back so I can sling it across the park again because she loves running so much. We now spend more time playing fetch than keep away. I could never throw it far enough on my own to keep her interested more than one or two times before getting the launcher. Now, we can spend an hour at the park playing with it. I have one super tired dog when we go home. Tired dog = happy dog = happy dog mom. I also love that I ... MoreWhile my dog struggles with the concept of returning the ball to me, she absolutely loves this! I also love that I don't have to pick up the slimy ball with my hands anymore, especially after she drops it in a puddle, because the launcher picks it right up. My dog gets so excited when she sees the launcher that she will bounce back and forth in front of me until I throw the ball. I only regret not buying one of these earlier!
Really helps get some distance when throwing balls. Gives my German Shepherd a much better work out than throwing a ball normally.Would suggest using the rubber balls for large dogs. The supplied tennis ball style was destroyed by our dog really quickly.
Ball was destroyed easily by the golden retriever puppy. Used a rubber ball which fitted in the thrower ok but the pup got hold of the ball thrower and the ball end was easily chewed making it not usable. It is a softer plastic than the cheaper ones and well made but doesn't last if the dog gets hold of it.
