Well designed and manufactured product. Easy to assemble and utilise your existing battery packs. Cuts larger diameter branches / bush / hedge tops than other makes of pole trimmers. Much safer than on ladders with conventional hand held hedge trimmers.

The head wobbles, it's unbalanced top heavy the motor is on the head . Safety catch difficult and annoying to release as it sticks. Trigger is too far away from the ballance point, strap is useless as it provides no support as away from balance point. Difficult to use at an angle on a vertical face as no handle to counter balance the blade. There is a glaring health and safety issue. To tilt the head it is difficult to avoid holding the blade which is effectively live with the battery in place. If I'd paid £50 I wouldn't complain but £200 it's very poor design I wouldn't buy another one.

It's a great tool for those hard to reach sections of hedge. Safer and more convenient than getting out a ladder or steps, especially on uneven ground. The motor is powerful and the blades sharp. Great endurance from the 5Ah battery, longer than you want to be holding the hedge cutter in the air. Super convenient without having to mix fuel for the petrol hedge cutter and much quieter.

This pole hedge trimmer is not fit for purpose. Sent to be repaired after a couple of uses. The returned item lasted a little longer. But I have been told by Dewalt that they only warranty repairs for 6 months. This item has been used for about 2 hours in total since the repair.

The machine itself was great.Very sharp.Solid and well made.When I tried holding it myself it didn’t feel comfortable for me personally. I occasionally need a long reach cutter but the majority is low and I felt it would suit me.I boxed it up without trying obviously and phoned for a request to return it. They were great and once it arrived back with them I got my refund,I haven’t ordered my standard hedge cutter yet but will definitely use this company again and it will be a DeWalt.

Needed to cut back about 250 yds of woody and soft stemmed invasive vegetation up to 7 ft high along an access lane without using a ladder. A 4AH battery attached to the trimmer nearly got it all done and a standby 2AH got the job finished. The trimmer got through some small finger-width woody stems reasonably well and eased through the softer stuff. It is weighty which the shoulder strap helps with, though a choice of hook-on positions to match the actual balance point would be useful. Using it for an hour is a good workout and thick gloves help with the vibration and dealing with thorny cuttings. PPE is essential and non-negotiable. It is easy to set up and take apart for storage, with due respect paid to the very sharp blades. The cutter/motor adjustable connection to the extension is not rigid though this does not significantly detract from (or add to) the trimmer’s performance. Overall I’m pleased with the unit’s functionality. I cannot yet comment on it’s longevity. Very competitively priced and promptly delivered in original manufacturer’s packaging. Good job all round.

It's hard to review this as it is a tool for a specific purpose. When I was cutting my hedge I kept swapping between my hedge trimmer and this. If the on trigger could have slid up and down the shaft I feel it would work better. At times branches were closer and it was hard to reach the trigger. So I had to go down off my ladder and swap for my smaller trimmer. I got slightly annoying but to be fair I got the job done.

Impressed with performance

I’ve had top line garden tools all my life - I needed a ‘long reach ‘ hedge trimmer , but wanted to continue my switch to electric . Having had to replace my workshop tools I choose de- Walt . Being able to utilise batteries is an absolute bonus. The hedge trimmer cuts perfectly - larger diameter branches than I’d thought . Of course with a long reach you must be prepared for a bit of hard work - but I’m delighted with this hedge cutter and recommend fully .
