DJI Mini 2 Drone Fly More Combo

This is a fun but powerful wee drone. It will be so much more capable that you will be comfortable trusting it with, IE wind and height. After I bought it, I had some buyer’s remorse. It’s a lot of money for a hobby. The more time I spent flying and later looking at the video, the better I felt about my choice. I previously had an inexpensive drone. It was hard to fly and the video quality was poor. The Mini 3’s GPS assistance in maintaining the drone’s hover position and helping compensate for light wind is wonderful. The video quality is excellent. I chose to buy the controller with the built in touchscreen as opposed to the controller you have to connect to your phone. No regrets. It’s easy to hold and works great. The kit I bought also included three batteries and a charger for all three. Also worth the cost. I wish you could zoom out the camera, yes you can fly further away but I was scared to take it that far first run or that high. 2. I wish you could record and take pics while recording like you can do on some cell phones. If there is a way to do this I couldn't figure it out. 3. It's got this booster pack to charge 3 batteries, but it will only charge them one at a time and with a USB cord, you have to provide your own plug. For this much money it should come with a plug, or even better straight plug to an outlet and charge all 3 at once. Some tips, watch a YouTube video or two of starting out. Do not plan to use it the day you get it. All the batteries need to charge up to become active (probably overnight) and you have to set up an account, register stuff, downloads firm ware updates and install them. So set up to start takes maybe an hour and first charge of all the batteries and remote like 6-8 hours, I forget how long. But you're not going to open it up and go fly so just a heads up there. Other than that it's awesome.

A great little drone for new drone users

This is my first real drone and so far I am happy with it. It is well built and even though I have not had a lot of flight time I feel I am going to like this drone. It has a very good camera that gives awesome video and stills from above. The built in shots make you look like a professional pilot. If your budget won’t allow for a larger drone with a better camera, this is a great starter drone. Plus, at less than 249 grams, you don’t need a license to fly it.The only caveat that I see is the lack of obstacle avoidance. The only sensors it has are the ground sensors that it uses to land. Even though it would be hard to crash this drone into the ground, trees and other obstacles are a different thing. Higher end in the the hobby drones. Purchased for monitoring inaccessible areas of the ranch and for possible real estate presentations. The software sophistication is staggering. There are essentially endless tutorials on You-Tube. I'm still not feeling masterful, but the automatic features will keep you out of a lot of troubles. The refurbished unit I bought had a downward sensor malfunction (this drone doesn't feature lateral sensor protection which will cost you about another $1,500 in a higher end machine), but the factory return and repair was fast and seamless and covered in warrantee. I have RC aircraft experience from years ago. The control directions are different, but the experience probably helps. The photos and videos are stunning. Although its missing some professional features such as follow me, and its sensors arent as good in low light situations, it is great for hobbyists that just want a nice drone that shoots great 4K quality videos. For the price that its being listed for in most places, it is the best budget drone you can get on the market as 2021 is coming to an end. Maybe a mini 3 will come out, but for now if you want a budget professional drone, the mini 2 is your best bet. The mini 2 camera is still amazing, its just that compared to the higher quality drones you can tell a difference since its video quality is a bit noisier and the color profile is harder to work with. Lets take the Mavic Air 2 for example, its half the price of the Mavic Pro 2 yet some people even prefer the 4K shooting quality of the Air 2 over the Pro 2 and it has some real competition. However; the Mini 2 is less than half the weight of the Air 2, making it the best travelers drone due to how compact it is. Easily fitting into tight spaces like your jacket pocket, and not needing to be registered since its under the 250g weight limit, it is the most convenient portable drone that you can probably get which gives you a lot more freedom if your out shooting. Its up to you to decide which to choose. However, if your just looking at the budget 2 because its right at the maximum of your budget, and you know youll photograph and travel often, it will be a solid investment. I do recommend getting the fly more combo though, well worth the money.

Massive Step up from Previous DJI series

I started off years ago with the Phantom 3 advanced. The price was right at 1K here on ebay, with one battery. This kit includes 3 batteries giving an overall flight time of about an hour and a half. It has the same top speed as the Phantom 3 A. Weighing in 2.5 pounds less it requires no registration. The video is excellent in 4k resolution which you can crop or downscale anytime you want. The same for the color rendition. With the exception of speed this uav even out performs the Phantom 4 series except the pro. The ability to charge the batteries through a usb c connection, the same as on most current phones, is definitely a plus. You can charge on the go in your car easily. What a great gift

I received this as a gift and I could not be happier. After owning several helicopters, this drone is so much easier to control. It’s very stable and the camera is amazing. The gimbal provides stable video at up to 4K with 2X optical zoom. I’ve had it up to 500ft (the ceiling height allowed in my general area by the FAA) and have controlled it almost 2 kilometers (1.25 miles) away. The controller has a signal indicator letting you know if your connection to the drone is getting weak and it stayed strong even at that distance. Camera video also seemed pretty flawless on my phone connected to the controller. Very pleased with this drone overall. I would recommend getting the kit with extra batteries though. BONUS: If you want to fly at night make sure to add a Lume Cube (see picture of drone) to your drone to stay legal at night since the light on the drone does not meet FCC specs for drone night use. Also be aware that this drone does NOT come with night vision on the camera, but the CMOS sensor IS high enough quality to give decent video in the presence of artificial light (city lights) and full moon light. Don’t expect much of anything though if you are in a pitch dark environment.

It also comes with some replacement parts. The stability and gyroscopes in this drone are amazing, you can clip a tree branch and it will tumble and right itself without any input so long as it doesn't hit the ground. (Full disclosure, I did manage to kill my first DJI Mini 2 by being stupid. I managed to hit a tree flying fairly low and it tumbled onto solid concrete. So it's not invincible, but if you are flying over softer surfaces, I'm confident it could take pretty much any impact within reason. The moral of this story is...BUY THE INSURANCE, for a product like this with the possibility of doing something really stupid with, totally worth it.If you do buy this drone, GET THE ACCESSORY PACK! the extra batteries and the charger make this so much more fun. The battery life is great, but being able to swap out batteries makes this a much more fun activity in you don't have to stop for two hours to go at it again.Happy flying, and please do some research into the laws governing drone flight. This one is great because, for the time being, you don't need to get a license as it is under 250 grams. BE AWARE THIS MAY CHANGE.
