I use these dyes for tie-dyeing and I get great results. A word of caution with this black; use it immediately after making it up. If you leave it, crystals form in the solution and the dye is not as effective. I wash on a full (not eco or half) cycle after dyeing and I haven't had any trouble with colour leaching thereafter. Mind you, I wouldn't put it in a pale colour wash - just to be on the safe side.

I bought this product along with the pre- lighten machine product by dylon. The instructions on the packet said the pour the product into the drum of the machine and wash as 90. Which I did. This then resulted in my washing machine not emptying and being filled with water. I had to manually empty the water out but still couldn't open the machine. So had to put it on many different cycles for it to open. Eventually with more of the pre lightening water everywhere in my kitchen and many towels used to mop it up, I was able to open the machine. My virtually new towels were bleached and my machine blocked! And the product had lightened a fraction andactually looked worse.I eventually had to call the washing machine engineer out as my machine still wasn't working and ... MoreI bought this product along with the pre- lighten machine product by dylon. I have used different colours before for my black work shirts and they showed a significant improvement, but this time this product just failed me badly. I wanted to recolour a pair of sweatpants and experiment on some of my T-shirts as per I quite liked the colour on the package. After following all instructions on the package the results didn't impress me at all. The pants didn't get revived at all - absolutely the same colour so it should have been perfect - and the T-shirts got this weird greenish hue, but not colour. Not happy, not happy at all with the results. NOT RECOMMENDED!

Used to dye 2 metres of cotton/linen mix fabric which was twice the recommended weight for the dye sachet. The colour came out as a lighter bottle green which was to be expected due to the amount of fabric. It came out with a lot of mottling after dying in a wide, flat box which might be due to the surface area of fabric floating above the water- next time I will use a bucket as I previously have done which came out with a more even colour.
Definitely a good quality dye and the amount of fabric you can colour from one sachet is very much worth the money! I have used this brand many times and have had different outcomes on different fabrics or blends for example I used this particular colour to dye a navy item which was a cotton/polyester blend and it was slightly less pigmented than previous results, so worth researching the fabric type before purchasing. All in all a very good high quality product and comes in a good range of colours with easy to follow instructions.
I tried this colour but it came out blue. I did attempt to contact their head office (the products) but to no avail. I even tried to colour something different and the colour didn’t stick and was still a dark blue colour. It perhaps would work if you were to try to get something that is already black to just be a little brighter. But do not bother if you are trying to get something coloured black.
I only wanted to repair a few square inches of bleaching on a pair of black jeans. Followed the instructions to the letter but the black dye only partially worked, made it a bit darker but not completely black. To be fair, the instructions said it would cope with a 250g garment but the jeans were more like 600g. But on the other hand, to use two or three packets would have been very expensive - nearer to the value of the jeans! - and impractical because it would have needed a bathtub for the operation and I only had a bucket. So maybe ok for a smaller or thinner garment.
Red again! A couple of red Ts hadn't fared well in the wash. Now they are back in their "out of the box" red, thanks to Tulip Red Dylon. So little effort hand-dyeing: I use a (clean) builder's bucket rather than the sink, that way I'm not in anyone's way. So easy, such good results.
Used to mask garish dog tooth checked trousers. Much improved results on attempts years ago, driven by excellent fit and quality of garment. Instructions were easy to follow and even dye result. Some synthetic fibre content so dye coverage wasn’t solid but the subtle feint check is great. New life for the trousers for a good while at a low cost. In fine weather, so no mess or splashes as put the dye bucket outside.
We haven’t tried this yet and have rather gone off the idea because the packaging leaked blue particles. Since then we’ve been, and are still, finding bits of blue all over the house, in and on floors, furniture, clothes, bedding as well as on our skin. The sachets themselves were intact but the plastic bags in which they had been packed turned out to have contained a lot of spillage, presumably from another sachet of navy blue dye.
