I bought this for dyeing silk. I followed the instructions and it failed to attach to the fabric beyond a dull grey (which was only sitting on the surface, not dyeing it). I put my TWO YEAR OLD green iDye which has been made up all this time in a squeezy bottle in the same dyebath and it dyed the silk fine. I then put in two yarn mops (with mordant) to see if the very strong dye in the water would attach, and it didn't. Absolutely useless. The fabric and the yarn released all the blue "dye" when I rinsed them. I will find somewhere else to purchase iDye.

I used the Dylon black dye on a linen t-shirt that had got splashed with bleach and it worked really well. I used our stainless steel kitchen sink as the container and just cleaned it afterwards . I’ve washed it in the washing machine a few times since, with no colour fade, so I’d definitely recommend.

Colours VERY disappointing indeed. Used on new white fabric - colours looked great when wet but when dry the very vibrant "ocean blue" became a much less nice blue. The pink was ok. Plus, while Dunelm's price is good compared with others it still seems expensive for what it is.....

Not the light blue it's advertised as, it's darker. Sort it out dylon. Bought it to patch dye a bleach mark, it's marred the top because it's much darker then the description and picture.I'll contact them and complain.Dunelm at no fault whatsoever!
I bought this product recently and used it yesterday. I honestly had no idea that the result was going to be anywhere near as good as it was. The packs of INNERSY pants I have been buying have three nice colours, and a horrible pale grey. I used the Ocean blue dye, as there was nothing darker in stock, and the results were brilliant, totally consistent over 5 pairs. As long as you are careful to note which fabrics it is not suitable for, and follow the instructions, I would 100% recommend this product.
The dye was easy to use. It worked well to darken my brightly coloured dress. FYI the black dye may not make your fabric completely black - my dress is still a pattern of dark blue and green but it's a good quality dye.
My grandson helped in the garden wearing his designer tracksuit and managed to get bleach on the top and bottoms. Dylon cost me £4.99 as opposed to £80 for a new track suit. Result, one happy grandma! 👍
I have used these Dylon 50g packs to hand dye over twenty items of cotton clothing, towelling bags and beach towels. I've never had a problem, so I think the issues experienced by others here might be more to do with their fabrics. The packaging does state that cotton, linen and viscose offer the best results, while silk (among other fabrics) will dye to a lighter shade. When rinsing, it does take a few washes to run clean, but it gets there in the end. For the price, I think these dyes are a fantastic option to breathe new life into items that might otherwise be thrown away, like sunscreen-stained beach towels. I'll keep buying and dyeing!
I use these DYLON dyes in my front-loading washing machine. They dye successfully on fabrics that take dye. Easy to use––simply add 500g of salt to the dye in the machine drum with item(s) to be dyed and wash on 'Delicate'. These packet dyes have become harder to find in recent years and therefore more expensive. Spotlight has a reasonable range of colours, usually in stock, but is expensive. Big supermarkets sometimes carry Black at half the Spotlight price. Good idea to do research!
I used this to dye one of my tops for a concert and it didn't work at all! I followed the instructions carefully and didn't everything right and the colour rinsed out straight away! Waste of time and money and has left me disappointed with no other options :(
