Why doesn't this unit have an internal light? The door has never shut properly and has to be pushed shut down the bottom after closing the door. It seems that the door is bent out of shape.

Bought this fridge as a replacement for the 3 way fridge which came with our Caravan. Shame BCF doesn't keep the mounting kit which we had to order online which delayed the installation into the Van. Finally got the fridge installed and its great - love it.

Bought the Engel because of brand and being a Compressor fridge supposedly uses less Solar Power. But now regret purchasing this product. As for being suitable for use in Qld not a good idea! . Because when running the fridge at an Ambient temperature of "More than 17.25% Celcius"(In Qld, what a joke) the fridge is constantly running and does not cut out as a compressor fridge normally does to save on battery power. Also to use the Freezer function, the fridge has only 1 temperature dial. So to use the freezer section the dial has to be set on "5" which is the highest setting. In doing so the freezer section will freeze ice etc., but also fridge items on top shelf also freeze. So, basicly, can only be used as a fridge. As I said before - No good for Qld weather. Not happy at all with this product and it is NOT cheap.

Good fridge works great doesn’t fit as snug as the dometic that it replaced but is more efficient on power.If puting into a caravan set up you must order the install kit too and it will take around 2 weeks to get so if your in a hurry to install this way look somewhere else as bcf don’t stock this product.
Here is my in depth performance review of this 2-way fridge that has replaced my old 3-way caravan fridge which had become unreliable (well it was over 26 years old!) I live in Bridgetown WA and load tested the Engel over 2 days when the daytime temperature was around 26 to 27 degrees C. The fridge was filled to about half capacity in both freezer and fridge compartments and the internal temperature stayed around 3 to 4 degrees C. I cooled the fridge down initially on 240v then switched to my iTech World 100 Ah lithium battery. So, using an inline power meter I recorded a usage 262 Wh and 20 Ah over a 48 hour period which equates to 131 W / 10A per day. As you can see power consumption is quite frugal and this fridge is also very quiet! Bought the engel stf90 4 mths ago ! Thought it strange the fridge ran nearly all the time , worked out the flimsy door wasn’t sealing properly while travelling along ! It’s taken 4mths and and numerous emails and calls to have anything done ! Now it has a second hand clip fitted to the middle of the door thanks to the Engel warranty?Still runs all the time nearly!!Have had Engel fridges for over 20 years ! Couldn’t fault them ! This fridge is not up to the engel ledgend in reliability logo ! No light , no temp display , seems cheap …. But isn’t! Thumbs down Engel!
Housing seems cheap, hinges are bulky and ugly, latch feels cheap, no light inside and no indicator of temperature takes some fine tuning. Decent freezer compartment though. It's definitely not an impressive fridge in anyway, if not for the Sawafuji this would be $500 on special and you'd still pass it up. Has a Sawafuji but so 10 years from now if I'm handing it down to my kids I might be more impressed.
Great fridge, perfect as a replacement for our caravan, don't have gas now to worry about. Works perfectly on a standalone battery & solar system I've fitted to the van. Minimal work to fit into existing caravan fridge slot, easy to wire up.
Cheap plastic latch, flimsy door hinges, very noisy compressor, flimsy shelving. Door is not sealing so it turns off and on constantly. Avoid this fridge.
It’s Engel ... it just works!After owning a couple of portable fridge/freezers over the past 23+ years, when it came to looking for a compressor fridge to replace an evaporative three way in our caravan, the choice was easy. This Engel is a 240/12v unit. It automatically runs 240v and only switches to 12v when 240v is unavailable. A simple temperature dial also allows for the unit to be switched off.The replaceable front panel on the door provides for the opportunity to match caravan decor, if desired.
