I just swapped out the stock Made in China British heads on the 16" floor tom of my ddrum kit. With this being my first acoustic kit, I was initially disappointed with the depth and tune-ability of the 16 and was considering an 18". Not anymore. I removed both old heads and installed this as the reso first. I brought it up to tune just a bit higher than resonance and tested it holding it by the rim. The depth and thunderous bottom end of this head alone was shockingly impressive. Paired with a 16" Evans EC2 with SST, this tom now sounds absolutely amazing. I'm excited to try the 12 and 14" soon. I haven't put strenuous effort into finding the sweet spot tuning it, but even just roughly tuned, I no longer want for a new kit. :)

I use clear and coated Evans G1's primarily as a resonance head to accompany my Remo CS batter heads. The clear G1's make my tom and floor tom really boom, with more prominent bass without too much overtone. The coated G1, accompanied with the Gibraltar 14" 42-strand snare wire, gives my coated Remo CS snare batter head a hefty chopping sound with great tone, rather than a thin single ply snare side head that makes a smacking, slapping sound. Great product that fits my needs perfectly.

I recently jumped off the Remo bandwagon and I couldn't be happier with my decision. Not only is their product fantastic, but they also have some of the best customer service I've ever encountered treating me like a big name endorsee and helping me to choose heads during this brand transition. These heads sounds fantastic! I'm pairing with them with the EC2 series on my collection of Pearl toms. I tune them slightly higher than the batter heads and they just work. Many people usually ignore their resonate heads but they are a vital part to your sound, so don't forget to change them! I'm also Rockin a 6" and a 8" on my LP Mini Timbales and they sound fantastic. Given they are one ply I wouldn't recommend using these for batters on anything other than small drums like ... I ordered the 8" and 6" G1 heads to retrofit some early 70's Rogers bongos. I had Slingerland hoops to fit. The 8" worked great. The 6" didn't exactly fit inside the hoop. It may have fit in a standard triple flange hoop, but I tried an Ambassador and it worked. I don't think there'll be much difference in sound on a 6" drum.
I admit I resisted using Evans again. I've used them before with OK results. But I ended up trying Level 360 clear G2s as tom batters and clear Level 360 G1s as resos. Immediate improvement. The drums came to life like never before. The toms tuned up quickly and easily. I also have a power center reverse dot on the snare and a clear GMAD on the kick. I've finally found my sound!
After my underwhelming experiences with using clear Remo Ambassadors as resonant heads on my rack toms as well as having the same clear G1 on the bottom of my 16" floor tom for over a year (with great results overall), I decided to get these for my rack toms as well. They seem to be more consistently even in how they sit on the bearing edge compared to the Ambassadors I tried out before, and they sound more lively and full to me. I've had to use half a Moongel at the edge of the one on my 16" floor tom, but that's not a huge deal. Not dissing on Remo, especially since I love their clear Powerstroke 3's on the batter side of my toms, but for resonant heads, I'm sticking with these. Not sure how they are as tom batter heads, but I'm definitely pleased with how they ... These G1 heads are the Remo Ambassador Clear counterpart. I've bought this head to replace the factory Tama resonant head for my Hyperdrive set. I never thought that resonant heads could affect sound so much. I took it out of the box without installing it, hit the plastic with my finger - it gives some kind of tone. After removing the factory Tama head and doing the same trick, I just heard a boxy sound. I recommend to use.
This drumhead should be classified as a resonant head only, not a batter. If used as a batter, it has an extremely weak, ringy sound that wouldnt be too far off from the stock head you're taking off that came from the factory. Instead, if used as a resonant head, it has incredible tone, and a fantastic low end. I paired it with my G2 coated heads and it sounds like an absolute dream. I recently turned a side snare into a rack tom, and with the help of the G2 coated as the batter and G1 as the reso, it sings like any other tom in its size. Two thumbs way way up for Evans!
I love these heads , They sound great with a good bright wet ring. but the sound quality fades away pretty quick. they will work great for working drummers that change heads regularly. they get very dull sounding after just a few shows. they also dent pretty easily so prolly not good for hard hitting players
I received this head a few weeks ago and have been putting it on my kit this last week. I heard good things about them from other players and all the reviews I read were very positive . I myself prefer single ply heads I think they are more responsive . So far I'm very satisfied with the sound of these heads & hope they will hold up for awhile.
