These shears are very comfortable to use, sharp, and lightweight. The problem with them is that the gearing system *seems* to allow you to cut thick hedge or shrub branches. While the gearing system makes light cutting easier, on anything heavy, it can shear the plastic cogs. Forget this, and you can have two useless pieces of metal and plastic in your hands.I bought one. It broke, and I returned it. Later, the second one went on a thick shrub branch.If you keep this fact in mind, they are excellent.

I bought these because the Daily Telegraph rated them a best buy.They are NOT suitable for cutting hawthorn, privet or cupressus hedges for the blades are very flimsy and twist - unless you are cutting at exactly a right angle. Not for serious hedge cutting. The old ones I have are Sandvik Pradines P54 which are superb but unfortunately I cannot find replacement buffers for the blades. Even so I prefer to use these rather than the Fiskars shears.

Excellent. Bought them as less likely to disturbs nesting birds than then when using my petrol trimmer. Worth the money
I bought these shears several years ago when they were named Wilkinson Sword. Fiskars is the same company.They're very light so perfect for lots of cutting without the arm ache!They're incredibly sharp too. In the years I've had them, I've not had to sharpen them. Obviously use would play a huge factor here. But it's clear the steel used it very good quality.There's one silly thing that let them down! And that's the grey plastic toothed centre piece. If only they made this out of metal! Mine has just recently sheered and I wasn't being particularly hard on them.So if you're trade or remotely heavy handed, steer clear! You will break them.
I always buy Fiskars garden tools, a little expensive but very good and they last along time. Old saying you get what you pay for.
plastic tooth on gearing broke within first 10 minutes of use on light hedging. Went with the name as my loppers have proved very good and managed to find a pair for £15 by driving 70 mile round trip to store - big mistake.
For the 6 minutes of using them I thought the shears were brilliant; chopped away at the tangled wisteria with ease...and then they fell apart. 6 minutes! Very disappointed.
These hedge shears make light work of pruning jobs around the garden. Have been using them for a couple of weeks now with no problems. They look and feel good quality and, provided they are used for light pruning, cutting branches not more than 1cm in diameter, they should last a long time. I would recommend them to beginners and keen gardeners.
These are the best shears I have ever had. They cut without 'chewing'. They are light to handle and very sharp. I was a bit anxious having read reviews that said they break easily. I think that is probably because they operate rather differently from conventional shears, in which to get maximum leverage the cut has to be made at the top of the blades. With these shears, as the instructions demonstrate, it is the tips of the shears that are important. Once you get used to that there should be no problem. A great tool.
