Really tasty. I never ever ever buy processed cheese, ever!We love our cheese, so the very thought of buying processed cheese would never enter my head so when I saw this sample I was a bit . I picked it up yesterday, just thought to myself, I suppose I ought to review this pretend cheese. I went to get myself a slice, only to find that Mr D has already started on them and made his way through 6 slices already!!So I got myself a sliceWell! I have eaten my words!Individually wrapped as expected, but what a flavour!Creamy, proper 'cheesy' flavour. Soft, almost melt in the mouth texture. I genuinely, and I can't believe I'm going to write this, think that I will buy this again! Thanks for once again leading me out of my comfort zone and trying what I thought I'd hate ... Just misses out. I had hoped for a tasty snack, alas my disappointment when the cheese slice was really quite tasteless, after slightly struggling to seperate the slice from the wrapping the end result was not a great taste test. I can see the bonus for family's with children for school lunches but if you want a cheese moment there are great alternatives. One other worry is the fact that it doesn't grill very well, it just dissolves into a mess which sticks in your mouth. Not a good result. Sorry but there are better choices on the shelves at your local woolworths store .

Hillview processed cheese slices individually wrapped. Just as we had been reflecting on how we used to get "plastic cheese" slices long ago, here is appears in my Bunch-Box!, and it still seems the same. A soft, square of processed cheese that fits neatly onto a slice of bread but doesn't really enhance anything you eat. Its. just. there. At least it is not glowing a weird shade of orange like that stuff hanging out the sides of golden arch burgers. For a young family, these are a simple-tasting cheese to add to children's lunchpacks with little fuss. They are a bit more economical (about $8. 50/kg) than "real cheese" but its a personal choice how you quantify good value. This pack holds all of 24 slices so they will last a while. There is a lot of plastic used in this product, so I'm surprised they are still popular. The film is very thin and it could be hard for some folk to find where to start peeling the plastic off the cheese because you can't easily see or feel a delineating mark or line. I know that Woolies make cheese slices that are not wrapped individually - and they have a bit of flavour too. The high sodium content goes with the territory, I guess, to keep them well preserved. Tasting these now, my kids described them as "slimy" and asked if they are real. I think I'm relieved with that response ;)As a survival-focused, lunch-pack-filler these slices of mystery cheese have a simple flavour that might be easy for kids to tolerate and they are better than "junk" food. They don't seem very different to the ones I remember from ages ago. For today, they don't seem to be very environmentally friendly so I would prefer to see more varieties of 'blocks' of real cheese so that our young ones can learn so much more about the world of cheeses out there and learn to appreciate them.

Plastic Wrapped Cheese. Thank you once again to the Bunch Team and Woolworths for this cheese to review. I have not purchased single individual plastic wrapped cheese, in many year's.... (Due to single use plastic)Admiditly the cheese slices are quick, easy and convenient to use. HOWEVER... it was NO where as tasty & stringy (when melted) as the Hillview block cheese, that I personally prefer. 2 Star from BIG fish ⭐⭐
Just perfect. When I went to Woolies to pick up my sample I also brought a large bread roll to go with it. I decided to make the old pizza subs for lunch. I found that the cheese slices broke in half cleanly and when under the grill they didn't turn to plastic like other cheese slices tend to do. When I cut the subs into portions once again they cut cleanly without sticking to the knife and didn't turn into the milky white substance when heated. The best part when you bite into the sub the cheese doesn't stick to your teeth. These are all plusesMy husband has been addicted to the Hillview Tasty Cheese 1kg block for ages, each fortnight we have to go to Woolworths and stock up on these just in case he runs out before the next shop lolThe plastic protective covering ... They taste nice and creamy without too much salt for flavour. They are the right size for sandwiches. I would say that adding these to fondues, cheesey potatoes, cheese sauce would be a great idea. So this product is great value for money and is versatile enough to add to your favourite cheese recipe.
A decent Toastie slice. Cheese is such a subjective topic, but for an Apples to Apples comparison against other Singles processed cheese slices these did well enough. I tested these side by side with another Single slice cheese on a Cheese and Ham Toastie, they tasted fairly comparable, although I'd suggest these have a slightly lower melting temperature. Side by side as an eating slice for my 7 year old, she prefered the other brand & I agree, I'd suggest this would probably be true in a sandwich as well. We didn't try them grilled on toast as I just can't bring myself to try that, though I know some enjoy it. Price wise these hit a better price point, so depending on how you use your processed slices these might be a viable option. We prefer fresh cheese with more ... MoreA decent Toastie slice. We prefer fresh cheese with more bite, but for an easy melt cheese toasty these were certainly passable. EDIT - I forgot to mention the wrapper was easy to take off, but the cheese was a little more susceptible to chipping it's edges whilst unwrapping compared to other Single slice brands.
Very Pleasantly surprised. A very pleasant surprise for a "no name" cheese. I have found that some brands are thin, and somewhat sticky to the taste. This one was (it have been me!!) thicker and certainly had a nice feel as l unwrapped it from the (individual) wrapper. That in itself is a plus. Taste was very, very nice. Not a strong after-taste but a moreish lingering type that encouraged just one more slice. Tried them in salad, ham, avocado sandwiches and met all the family's approval. Well worth buying... no question!!!!
Tasty and Simple. I tried the Hillview processed cheese slices in order to provide some feedback. These slices are priced well and are found in the refrigated section of your Woolworths stores. The big plus point of cheese slices is that you don’t actually have to stand and job up cheese, especially when time is precious like when preparing for a BBQ or party. It’s also convenient that they are individually wrapped so that the remainder of the slices do not dry out. However, the individual wrapping does also me more plastic style waste, which is a big concern for me. I could not see on the packet that any of the packaging was recyclable, so that’s not great. In terms of the taste, these are defiantly a milder cheese, so avoid if you prefer cheddar type varieties. I ... MoreTasty and Simple. The texture is a little slippery, so, I would suggest, that these are more suited to a toasty or to be used on a burger. Great for kids to have as a quick snack if they like that kind of thing and also comvient when preparing lunch boxes. Overall, a good product, particularly when considering convenience, but not a great one.
Handy wrapped Processed Cheese. Hillview Processed Cheese comes in a handy 24 pack of individual wrapped slices of cheese. I normally only eat Tasty Block Cheese the one you slice yourself. I was presently surprised that the wrapper was so easy to remove from the cheese. This would be great for preschool or little ones to open by them-selves. Making it an ideal help your self snack. I thought I would try some on toast as I had run out of block cheese. The cheese tasted nice and slightly warmed up on my hot toast. The taste of the cheese reminded me of when I was in Infant School. Monday was the only day for tuck shop or lunch order day and I always would order a Cheese roll. I’m sure after you unwrapped the foil a d let the air in you then had to put it in the fridge. I loved Mondays because of my grated cheese Roll. So in saying all of that. I really enjoyed Hillview Processed Cheese. I can see why my daughter always wants two slices placed over the top of her Mashed potatoes and microwaved just for a few seconds to melt. I will be definitely making sure that I never run out of Easy Peeling Hillview Cheese.
Nice if you like the soapy taste of processed sliced cheese. I'm not normally a fan of processed cheese, preferring the strong, vintage cheese. But this wasn't too bad for processed cheese. It melted well and had a bit of a moorish, creamy flavour, but had the plain, soft texture of created cheese. Nothing exciting like very strong, full bodied cheeses. Individually wrapped is convenient, but way too much plastic for the environment. I wouldn't buy it again, but if you like processed cheese, it was passable.
