I have utilized HP products for well over 30+ years, Desktops, notebooks, scanners, printers etc. I work with legacy electronics and needed a new Multi function printer scanner, that was capable for Windows 10 and actually back to Windows 7 Pro. Multi page document feeder does not 'dual feed' pages, as was the experience in the past with some multi-function machines.I like the fact that the print heads are built into the ink cartridges, such as with my original HP 722, yet as the years progressed, newer units with separate print heads had problems with feed tubes drying up and clogging. You get new print heads with each new black and white or color cartridge with this 7955e. How long they last naturally depends on how frugal you are with printed materials.It would be nice to get software in the box, and a bit more documentation (as in the past), although, if you know where to go, you can download the manuals with more detail, for those of us that having it would make a difference.Even though I have an HP login, it was a bit frustrating when the site blocked me when it sensed that I had a Windows 7 operating system. The Hp Envy 7920e, is a true game changer, with its simplistic preformance printing that deliveres great prints with the ease of use of a smartphone. Straight out of the box I was met with the simplistic, easy to use Hp Smart app that provided me with step by step instructions on setup and the whole process of (installing ink, paper, setting up the connections), which by many is considered a tedious process and experience. With the ink bring locked, it will have to be disposed which negatively impact the environment, I find this abit controling from Hp and think they should rethink this. Otherwise, the printers environmental sustainability is fine, there is low use of plastics in the unboxing process. Overall, the printer delivers great preformance at a affordable price and great ease of use. I would highly recommend it.
PAPER CATCH TRAY - Make sure to pull out paper catch tray or papers will fall on the floor. The tray itself is a bit flimsy and comes right out… then can only be slid back in when it’s close… but it doesn’t seem to have an exact spot where it clicks in…its more just like it slides into a slot and then just sits on something. But it somehow works! SETUP - The setup was a bit frustrating because it needed an app to be downloaded, and the app wouldn’t download because my phone/laptop didn’t have their own latest software upload… but my phone and laptop couldn’t because they are apparently too old devices (4-5 years old) …. So without the the latest update on my devices, the printer set up wouldn’t occur… even though my phone and laptop updates have nothing to do with ... The printer comes with a small color touchscreen that makes it easy to go in and change settings and do some set up functions. Another nice feature that the printer offers is Dual-band Wi-Fi with “Self-Healing” which will monitor the connectivity of the printer and automatically reconnect if the connection is lost which is a great feature.This printer met all of my expectations and I would not hesitate recommending this to others if you’re looking for a user-friendly all-occasion family printer. I called tech support and they explained that since my printer is no longer under warranty since it has been a couple of years since that initial replacement and tech fix, and that it would cost me either $60.00 pre-tax to purchae a 2 year warranty so that they could help me, or $19.99 pre-tax to help me one time and it would be a 14 day warranty so that if I encountered the issue again in 15 days I would have to pay another $19.99 plus tax in order to recieve assistance. My suggestion is to not buy HP or at the least aviod this model.
