JBL Flip 6 Portable Waterproof Speaker (Blue)

I bought this speaker about 2 years ago and have been incredibly impressed with it. The sound quality is absolutely amazing and the battery life is great. I have yet to find a speaker of this size that is louder or better sounding. All of the claims made about this speaker are true and this is a truly Impressive product. HOWEVER, I do have two slight bothers with this speaker that I would love to see be fixed in the Flip 6. The first and most pressing of these issues is the speakers ability to play while charging. I have noticed that when the speaker is charging and playing at full volume, it slowly looses power and eventually dies. this may be due to my speakers age, but feature that I would like to see added to future flip models is pass through charging. I have noticed that when the bumpers on the side of the speaker are impacted, they develop bubbles. This is not a big deal at all, but something that seems like it is an easy fix. Overall this is the best speaker I have ever owned and it is well worth the price, especially if it is on sale.

This speaker is so loud!! The videos does this awesome speaker no justice. It’s sturdy, cute, loud, and on top of that waterproof!!! My daughter actually dropped this one in the creek and it still works like it’s brand new!! I love how easily it connects to any device I want to use it with! Best overall speaker for the price

Very happy with my little speaker. Compact, but ultra powerful - wayyyyyy louder than my previous TDK TREK Flex. Fantastic sound for a portable of this size & relatively inexpensive with an appealing design. Battery life is long (even on high volume), as promised in the specs. I predominantly listen to audiobooks & podcasts, so volume & clarity are key - this beauty does not disappoint in either aspect. HOWEVER, if you're looking for a portable solely to play doof doof music with significant drops, this speaker may not be the right one for you - although wonderfully loud and clear, it's bass capabilities are somewhat lacking, and you'll inevitably be disappointed. So, to sum - if you're looking for something to enjoyably play bassy tunes on, perhaps stay away from ... MoreVery happy with my little speaker. Great sound. Cannot connect two to laptop/desktop.

These are the best sounding small speakers I've ever owned. I previously said this about the Wonderboom 2, but the JBL Flip 6 has now taken 1st place and by a large margin. There is much more bass in these speakers... surprisingly more. I can actually feel it some. It's not chest thumping, but I can feel the vibrations. There is one problem with these speakers that prevents me from giving them a 5 star rating: you cannot pair two of them with a laptop or desktop to get stereo or "partyboost" mode. JBL says this is a technical limitation, which is not exactly true. If JBL had an app for macOS like they do for iOS, it could create an aggregate device, no problem. In addition, there are thirdparty apps like Loopback (not free) that allow creation of audio devices to play through multiple bluetooth (and other) speakers as well as control the audio volume and other settings... soo... JBL could have done this, but didn't. I like that the buttons do not require holding for multiple seconds to activate features, pair, etc.. They just require a press, nothing more. It took a while for me to really believe this, but I really like it better this way.

Hate this Speaker

I purchased for primary use with a Windows 10 PC to reduce the number of wires in my system. When paired and connected the speaker sounds good with excellent fidelity, tone and range. I don't need or want to hear music or to listen to dialogue 100% of the time, and the speaker automatically turns off after not receiving input for a while. Then when I do want to listen to an audio track, it's necessary to "Remove" the Flip 5 from the Bluetooth menu, turn it back on and "Pair/Connect" again. The cycle repeats after every interval of silence whether I'm not listening to audio or put the computer into Sleep Mode. This is an extremely inconvenience, which virtually prevents using the speaker for my intended purposes. Why can't this feature be overridden? The removal of listening versatility by the choice to change the long-standing two-axis symmetric speaker position to an asymmetric orientation massively reduces the sound quality and versatility. If you ever enjoyed listening to your JBL Flip speaker in "landscape mode" (with the speaker horizontal on a surface), the sound stage in this position is ruined in the JBL Flip 5 generation and on. In technical terms, they changed the JBL Flip in-built speaker orientation by removing an axis of reflectional symmetry, to promote (and restrict) the speaker to only be used in the vertical orientation (nb: you're out of luck on any uneven or soft surface). An incredible disappointment as a past owner and avid user of JBL Flip 3 and 4 speakers - the new JBL Flip 5 generation shows a purposeful attempt to reduce the functionality of the JBL Flip line in an effort to push larger JBL portable speakers and/or multiple copies of JBL Flip 5 speakers for listening to a symmetric sound stage. These were the sole two recommendations I received from JBL Flip support *after* they improperly diagnosed my warranty request about the asymmetric speaker orientation as a defect. My JBL Flip 5 was purchased through an Amazon retailer in June 2022 and replaced directly by JBL, in error, in July 2022 via warranty (removing my ability for a retailer return). And now to be petty: With such a drastic change to the listening capability of this device, why have they forgotten to rotate the orientation of the JBL symbol to be read from the actual (vertical) speaker orientation?

Brought for my teenage daughter who loves her music and wanted a portable bluetooth speaker so she can take it out and about with her. This speaker was recommended to me and I found it online at Richer Sounds for nearly 20% cheaper than elsewhere. No regrets as this speaker certainly packs a mighty punch. Great sound for the price and thinking about buying another one for the garden for summer. Easy to use site and product delivered exactly as when stated. I would definitely use this company again and also recommend to others. On a side note I remember this company had one of its stores near to where I used to work which was 20 years ago. JBL Flip enthusiast approved!

Ever since the first iteration of the JBL flip, I've always found the each version to be one of the best Bluetooth speakers available. They just keep getting better and better. I was a bit hesitant to purchase the 6, because some reviewers online said there wasn't a big difference between the 5 and the 6. Trying the speakers out on the display at the store, I couldn't really tell. The 'Black Friday' deal enticed me to try out the Flip 6. Boy are the other reviewers wrong, and the in store display/demo's don't do it justice. I'm so glad JBL evolved this into a 2 way speaker. The sound is so much clearer thanks to the addition of the tweeter! This was the only change I had mentioned on my review of the Flip 5, add a tweeter! .... and they did. Now this thing is complete, and with the addition of the EQ feature on the 'JBL Portable' app, I have no idea how they're going to one-up this version. There isn't anything I would change regarding the sound/technology. Only minor complaint is the giant JBL logo on the grill, I miss the discreet orange square. But, I get it branding is key and it's important to distinguish between the models (which have been pretty much visually unchanged since the beginning) If I were to guess as to the changes on the FLIP 7 (not that the 6 needs anything changed); I'd say either more power, or a bigger battery. A change in the quantity or size of drivers would most likely result in a form factor change, which wouldn't fit within the product line. So I really have no idea.

Small but Impressive Sound

I bought two of these direct from JBL to be able to pair up together. I also have a Boombox 2 to Partyboost all three. These little speakers together in stereo mode may be my preferred indoor listening mode. Great sound. Set up is easy if you do it right. The trick is to pair only one speaker to Bluetooth and press the Partyboost button on the others to get them to join in. Then use the app to get it all going. If I had a wish, I would wish for stereo mode no matter how many speakers are hooked together. Currently you can only do stereo mode with two of the same speakers. They seem to have more depth and range in stereo mode. Partyboost is great for multiple rooms or outdoors but the sound to me is more flat. Still not bad for parties. I'm an indie producer, so I generally appreciate any device or medium that provide the song in the way the producer wanted the song to jam. This has a nice flat response from what I'm able to hear verses the reference tracks I use in the studio. You really are hearing a lot of small instrumentation without EQ'ing. I've heard the 5, and they are voiced the same, but this has an additional tweeter so you can get those tasty mids and high mids, which are usually left in a blah place with portables. Long story short: independent music producer and multi-instrumentalist is quite happy with the product.
