The advantage of the FC-5 is that, having no cable, it is easier to use. With the FC-3, the cable always seemed to be in the way and had to be hand managed but with a mains motor it scrubbed faster and sucked the water off the floor well. The FC5 seems to be effective but it leaves the floor wet which you either have to wipe up or leave to dry.I had to replace the main motor in the FC3 and eventually abandoned it when I couldn’t get the rollers to rotate properly whatever I did. It wasn’t really designed to be mended and doing so became tedious. I haven’t owned the FC-5 long enough to comment on its reliability.Which would I recommend? Both clean my tiled floor right up to the skirting board and I am satisfied with the cleaning results. I like not having a cable ... In the end it’s personal preference choice. The FC-3 is probably more suitable for wooden floors because of its better drying performance.

I've had good experiences from my other Karcher products - so an FC5 seemed a good choice for cleaning our extensive tiled floors. And so it has proved to be. The cleaner is very easy to use and clean, the battery life is more than adequate and for everyday cleaning to keep our tiles looking fresh and clean it's a breeze. I can clean the floors in less than 10 minutes and cleaning the machine adds another couple of minutes. I am not sure it would be suitable for very dirty floors - as it only uses a small amount of water and produces about a half a cupful of dirty water when finished (so its not using a large volume of water that you would draw and use for a mop and bucket operation - but who wants the faff of that everyday!)

The FC7 is much better than my corded FC5, it's worth double the money to me (I wasn't sure I could spend that much on a posh mop but I am glad I did). 4 rollers make it feel much lighter (important if you are older or have shoulder issues), it stands up by itself and is much easier to clean, it even goes under my sofas unlike the FC5. The new design FC7 I would predict will have less to go wrong, there is no motor sucking dirty water as in the FC5, it just falls into the tray at the bottom which is very easy to empty. The one small issue is that the dirty water tray needs emptying more often, about every 8 mins. Don't carry it over carpets as water can leak out of the dirty tray as it isn't sealed like the FC5 reservoir. 10/10 Kaercher, very clever, great streak ... Purchased in January 2022 and so far, I’ve used it 3 times to clean my oak kitchen, hallway and dining room floors, plus tiled and vinyl floors in a couple of our bathrooms. The battery easily copes with all of the floors using the standard rollers supplied with the machine.I use half a capful of the cleaning fluid each time I refill it, which is usually twice per clean of all of the floors mentioned. Such a small bottle, but I still have 75% of it left and it works fine.Even after vacuuming the floors beforehand, the cleaner still manages to collect lots of debris and the waste water is filthy.Cleaning the machine after use is a bit of a faff, but once I’d gone through the process a couple of times, it became easier.Karcher equipment is so well designed ... Instead, I clean them using warm water and washing powder in the sink and then place them back in the machine in the stand to dry. It’s a lot lighter and quieter in use than I expected and it positively glides across all of my hard floors. So far I’m really happy with this purchase, which replaced a rarely used Vax that had stopped working. There’s a world of difference between the two.

Be nice if there were additional spare sets of rollers when firstPurchasing the machine so wash one set whilst using others
I purchased my Karcher FC5 2.5 years back. It does an excellent job of cleaning the floor and its possible to cover a large area in a relatively short amount of time. It does struggle to remove very stubborn spots on the floor, so you had to agitate the stains with a fingernail in order to remove it.The battery life has drastically reduced overtime, I would estimate that has lost around 40% of the capacity which means that I can not longer clean the whole of downstairs without waiting for the painfully slow charge to complete.Currently I am not able to use the device as it has a power fault. That's very disssapointing given the age of the device. I may need to throw it away if it is not economically viable to repair due to high repair costs.
I have been through a number of floor cleaners and had high hopes for this offering from Karcher, as I had always returned back to my trusty spinning mop.My home has wooden floors, matt tiles and also an expanse of high gloss finished tiles. I can say it is excellent on the wooden floors and matt tiles. However not so great on the high gloss tiles as the cleaning solution and machine leaves lots and lots of water type marks all over the floor. This floor was my main reason for buying the product as it is really tiring using the mop.Since it is not possible to return a product after it has been used, this is my experience and how I got around it.I eliminated the use of the Karcher floor cleaning solution and I use spotless water (the type that window cleaners ... This means there are no marks left on the floor.I also use the stone floor rollers for my kitchen area, which is not over dirty but in areas near the sink and worktop do benefit from the extra scrubbing power these rollers provide.I would definitely recommend the product if you do not have high gloss finish tiles. It would get an all round 5 star rating in this instance. For my tiles I would give the product a 3.5 star rating.
I have had the cordless FC5 for 3 months now having previously had two FC5 Corded mops which were heavily used in a large family home with a pet. On the plus side, it's very handy not having to plug in everywhere and much quicker to just get out for a small spill or quick mop. The battery life is surprisingly good and I can clean a large kitchen, utility room, conservatory and bathroom on one charge. It is also as effective at cleaning dirty floors as the corded version but has one big letdown which is it doesn't pick up a fraction of the water that a corded version does. The vacuum is nowhere near as powerful and as a consequence, it leaves the floor a lot wetter. When cleaning I used to probably empty the dirty water tank twice on the corded version. On the ... The vacuum is nowhere near as powerful and as a consequence, it leaves the floor a lot wetter. When cleaning I used to probably empty the dirty water tank twice on the corded version. On the cordless, it's probably not even 20% of that. Whilst that means it takes longer to dry, the more frustrating element is that it's pretty useless to mop up large spills of say water on the floor, or if you have tiled floors and large grout gaps, its leaves dirty water in the grout lines. It's such a shame as it's not heavy, quick and easy to use, but I do feel Karcher have tried to maximise battery life instead of suction power. In an ideal world, I would have 2. One for frequent small cleans in upstairs bathrooms or quick small mops or spills and then a corded version for the larger 'weekly' clean. But then that would be expensive!!!
Decided to purchase this product based on popularity of Karcher products and some review site rating the FC5 as the best floor cleaner. What a mistake and waste of money!Other customer reviews have identified the very same problems we have experienced...... Doesn't like uneven tiled surfaces; water feed pipe easily gets blocked; isn't very effective at cleaning tiles (a bucket and mop are better!)We've decided to drop it off at the local council tip.Worst of all is that this product was NOT cheap! And I fail to understand how some review sites think this is the best floor cleaner available!Don't buy this product!!!!
Bought this around Black Friday but only got to using this week. Really impressed with this. Bought it after my sister raved about hers for years (she's had 3 and I consider her a domestic goddess!). I bought this on a special price deal .... not sure I think the full price is worth it though. It doesn't get the floors as dry as was described and that's the only reason I rated it at 4 stars and not 5 as they were quite wet after cleaning (perhaps my fault, time will tell). In fact my old steam mop got them dryer, so that was a little dissappointing, however in terms of cleaning power and ease of cleaning, I'm very impressed. Love how it pulls itself along needing very little strength from me to direct it to where I want to clean. I suffer with a bad back and this ... Good long handle so good posture when holding it, again good for bad backs. Impressive edge cleaning which is great too. Worth noting - I have a tiled floor which is not level in all places and something on the head or rollers catches so I think I'm going to switch to the stone rollers as I believe these may be better on my uneven floor. I would definitely recommend this item though!
