I bought these shoes for work. I’m on my feet 10 hours a day 4 days a week and do a variety of physical demanding activities. I often work around water and I walk on average 5 miles a day. They had great waterproofing to start out and helped me during a few heavy rainstorms but, the covering gave out along the seems and where my foot tends to bend when I crouch thus, exposing a non water proof fabric. I put these shoes through the wringer and I may not have done enough to care for them as they often got wet and were exposed to some cleaning chemicals. However I’ve have had Timberlands and Merrell last much longer. The comfort and tread it still alright but I they were not up to the demands of my job. I’m disappointed in how much I paid for them.

I purchased these in a 7.5, and typically wear 7 in street shoes. One I broke them in, I wished I had sized down, but in the store the 7 was just way too tight on my toe.I wore them straight of the box on a 15 mile trail that included mud and puddles, no problems. I wore them again on an 9 mile snow trail that included glissading. Temperatures rose so the snow became a slushy mess. These shoes filled with SO much water, and not through the ankle as I had gaiters on and pants stayed dry under them. I was walking in pools of water, inside my shoe for 2 hours. Granted, it was raining for hours and my raincoat also soaked through down to my base layers so conditions were pretty extreme. Only one person came out of that hike with dry feet and she was wearing Salomons. ... MoreI purchased these in a 7.5, and typically wear 7 in street shoes. For anything more intense, I do not recommend.

I bought my second pair of these boots 1 year ago. My first pair were great and lasted me almost 4 years of many hiking adventures so I decided why not stick with what worked. I got these book last year maybe August and wore them until it got too cold, maybe December when I switch to my winter hiking boots. Then I went back to these in April for my hiking and adventure needs and they just didn't hold up to regular wear tear. Seams have already started to burst, the sole has started to come apart and the leather has started to pull away from the sole. They remained waterproof for maybe two months. So different from what I experience with my first pair and I am very disappointed. I would not say I am hard on my boots, just regular wear and tear.

I have been a dedicated wearer of Keens for years due to the original 'Keen Fit' which had a pretty wide toe box and overall generous width. I wore Targhee for years (12+ pairs) before switching to Durand (now discontinued, sadly), and returned to Targhee due to lack of options for wide width. I was excited to have an actual 'wide' option in the boot, but after a little wearing, the wide feels no different than the original fit, perhaps even narrower- so much so that I am wondering if the box was mislabeled. The material also feels a bit stiffer than the old material. Maybe over time they will stretch in the foot area, but the toe box is what it is. If you truly have wide feet and are too small to buy men's, this boot is the least of the evils, but I do wish Keen ... MoreI have been a dedicated wearer of Keens for years due to the original 'Keen Fit' which had a pretty wide toe box and overall generous width. Otherwise, this is a reasonably priced, well made boot. The waterproofing is good and they aren't too heavy.
I wear my boots everyday, I live out of my backpack. I travel to various places and hike here n there. So I wear them on trail, dirt, water, sand, shale rock, bedrock and even sidewalks.Typically a boot lasts about 6months for me. This is my second pair of Keens, my favorite book for wear n tear and price; I've worn out Oboz, very good boot also; La Sportiva (super comfy but soles failed-remember I'm pretty hard on my boots).Back to Keen, in all my boots I change out the insole. I wear 'Sole' brand, firm base to support added weight of my pack. The insoles last over a year. I take them out at every break to dry, air out and I wash them. Helps tremendously with foot odor.Keen provides ankle support, flexible leather and other water proof (up to the top of the ... MoreI wear my boots everyday, I live out of my backpack. I had a pair of these that I bought in I think 2017. I wore them so long the tread was literally worn smooth, and they were still comfortable and still waterproof and still were a solid boot. I had them for Years. Probably a couple Thousand miles. The only reason I stopped wearing them was the wet granite started getting slippery!I replaced them with the same thing since I had such good luck with the first pair. After a few months they were no longer waterproof, but I sprayed them and kept wearing them. At just over a year and only a few hundred miles seams were failing and I had to replace the boots. I thought that maybe I had just gotten a defective pair, so I bought another. Immediately I could feel a difference in the overall comfort. I thought that maybe I had just gotten a defective pair, so I bought another. Immediately I could feel a difference in the overall comfort. Honestly, I think it was there with the second pair as well compared to the first, but I was telling myself that I needed to break them in some. Which makes no sense because the first pair were perfect right out of the box. I walked up and down the rocks they have at REI and I could feel every single edge perfectly defined in the arch of my feet. That was never possible with the first pair. Also, the third pair clearly had quality control issues because the sole wasn’t fully attached to the leather all the way around on one side and I could see as I was flexing back and forth of the rocks in the fitting area that the sole was going to separate from the rest of the shoe there pretty soon.I can only assume that Keen, like so many other brands, has been cutting corners in an effort to get production costs down and profits up. Again, I’m assuming here, but I am willing to bet that the company has been having some manufacturing problems since they have been moving their factories around. They still have the ones in Portland and China, but they closed the ones in India and now have them in Thailand and Dom Rep. I just think that might have something to do with quality control and cost cutting. Either way, I have to move on to another brand.I wish they would have been able to continue to make the boots the way they were when I bought my first pair because they would have had a customer for life! They were the best fitting, most comfortable boots I’ve ever worn. I’m legit sad that they don’t make them to the same standards anymore.
I bought these boots back in 2018, starting to hike and get outdoors. My feet are the stubby wide type and I always struggled with fitting into the typical narrow shoes. These are FANTASTIC. They have a wider toe box to allow for my feet to feel comfortable with each step and are waterproof! Albeit, if the water or mud come up and over the top it will get wet. The sole has great grip on smooth, jagged and wet rocks. I feel invincible striding through boggy and rocky terrain! You can do everything in them- I have hiked the wet boggy Adirondacks, the eastern coast trail and snowshoed in them! Great all around shoe without the weight of a bigger heavier boot.
I was looking for a boot for better ankle support. Took a chance on these as the store didn’t have my size in stock to even try on so had to order. Straight out of the box these have been incredibly comfortable and needed little to no break in period. I walk/hike 3-5 miles per day regardless of the weather, and these boots have been such a surprise. The toe box is on the wide side which is great when wearing a heavier sock. They have kept my feet warm and dry. I did just order the low cut version for times when I might not need as much boot - and I did order a half size down thinking of warmer weather and thinner socks. We shall see when they arrive how that works out. Overall, these have worked perfectly for me.
I've had my Keens for about 3 years now and at first I was in love. They were the first boots I had that weren't hand me downs. I've found over the years that they have begin to really show their wear. The traction has almost completely worn off and I find myself slipping when doing technical hikes (especially in the rain). There is some tearing near the shoelaces from me tying them over the years. They've remained very waterproof, which I've always appreciated. I've also learned that I can't go longer than 7 miles without getting blisters in these; I've tried various socks, lace arrangements, etc. and it seems inevitable. As I've begun doing significantly longer and more technical hikes these boots don't seem to keep up. If you want a solid boot for day hikes I'd ... MoreI've had my Keens for about 3 years now and at first I was in love. They were the first boots I had that weren't hand me downs. I've been wearing Keen's since ery early on...I originally purchased them because they had wide toe box and they offered stylish shoes. I bought boots, shoes, sneakers...all keen. Then after a bit, the toe box started getting narrower. I could no longer buy a pair and know for sure they'd fit...unless they were specifically wide. Thn wide became harder and harder to find. I was happy to see an ad campaign that promised wide shoes. But the selction is small and the advertising just didn't really sit well. "Thanks Keen for thinking of us short fat hikers." Really. Seems like a shoe company should know that many women have bunions which require a larger toe box. It's not clear what percentage of women have bunions...I've seen estimates as high as 55%...but many of us ... MoreI've been wearing Keen's since ery early on...I originally purchased them because they had wide toe box and they offered stylish shoes. I think you'd see sales go up if you did. So yes, my 9.5 W boots are fine....I think. I've yet to take them out for a longer hike and they seem a little tight. I'm not fond of the color or the limited offerings, but they'll do. I'm not as excited about Keen as I used to be.
