The blue Kreg screws are good for outdoor projects. I used them in some handicap ramps I built last month. They go in smoothly. I'm pretty happy with the Kreg pocket hole technology overall, and the screws play a significant role in the system.

So far I have been very happy with the quality of these screws. When used with a pocket hole jig they create a solid joint. They are also very reasonable priced compared to coated deck screws. It will be a while before I can tell how they hold up to the elements, but so far they seem solid.

Kreg has a well-designed system for securing boards together. This screw, as well as their drilling tool, works very well in securing two pieces of wood together very tightly and securely. If you add Tightbond Glue, it is almost unbreakable. I used these outdoor screws for a tiered planter box system and they worked very well. I've used the indoor screws for other projects, along with glue, and they are incredibly secure. I would definitely recommend this product.

This is most updated of my fence design work. I'm sure there are less people using screw to build the fence. I improve to use the kreg screw that what I found big different as before I used the deck screw which result will splitted the joint. Because with its flat contact on the wood and the Kreg port hole tools that help the work much faster and accurate. I can see the tightness becomes much perfect and tightly. After I complete of it, there is rock solid of the whole frame done. When I shake it there is a solid feel . If there is a 3" screw will much approprite.
I compared non Kreg screws with the Kreg brand and found that the non branded screws were a couple of dollars cheaper, but they really are not the same quality. The Kreg screws are far less likely to strip out and they fit snug in the bit. I have purchased several Kreg products and the premium price is always worth it. They make great products and these screws are no different.
My first project using pocket holes to build cart for Big Green Egg smoker. Screws are rated for exterior use and were easy to use. No stripping or breaking off.
I used these pocket hole screws to assemble a garden bridge made out of redwood. I designed the bridge utilizing the pocket hole jig. This allowed me to have zero screws visible from the standpoint of a pedestrian. They were incredibly strong and while assembling the bridge On its side my support came out holding the handrail up and to my astonishment the screws suspended the entire handrail in the air with 4 feet of leverage and two by sixes and three by threes hanging on them. The customer was thrilled and things couldn't have gone better
The screw appears to work well, but I've just built the custom planters. They haven't had the challenge of many seasons. Sadly, I likely won't even think about posting a review annually over the next 5 years. I'm glad this version of screw is available. One thing to consider is that these can more easily be over tightened. I didn't have stripping, but the pocket would bulge at the same drive force that didn't happen with other screws. Better to set the clutch to under tighten, and increase the force slowly.
These screws are made specifically for Kreg pocket holes made with their jig. The screw has a flat washer head that prevents it from driving too deep into the wood, and possibly exiting out the edge of your board. These screws are perfect for "two by" lumber, that is, lumber that is actually one and one-half inches thick. They are treated with a corrosion-resistant ceramic coating for outdoor projects. I used them to make some sturdy fence gates out of treated lumber. Even with the washer head design, you have to be a tad careful because treated wood is so soft. But for all of my joints, the screw never went too deep. You just have to get a "feel" for when to let up on the trigger of your impact driver. Practice on some scrap wood and it won't take long. One more thing - I did use some treated lumber adhesive on all of my joints for some additional strength. Maybe it was over-kill to some degree, but I've always used glue on pocket joints for regular lumber, and have always been extremely satisfied with the results.
Save yourself the headache and dont try and pinch a few pennies just buy the Kreg pocket hole screws. I have traveled down the penny p pinching highway and regretted it every time by less expensive screws only to have the bit not fit tightly in the screw head and slip and create some putty touch up work. And they don't have the gripping power and create those solid joint like you get with Kreg. And there is the blue-kote factor. Most other pocket hole screw are for interior use only. You always. Measure twice cut once then drill once and screw once buy the Kreg pocket hole screws.
