I’ve been using this shampoo for a while and I love it ! Hinoki is my favorite scent, super nice and a bit musky which I love. Basil and avocado is nice as well. My hair has a dry texture but after using it is so good smooth and textured. I also use hinoki conditioner for a better result. Highly recommended this product! Try it :)

First, let me be clear that I am reviewing the Le Labo, HINOKI scented shampoo not the BASIL scented. The Hinoki is one of my favorite smells. It is second to only Oud. I am not crazy about fruit or rose smelling products. This shampoo not only smells amazing but it actually makes my hair feel super clean but not dry and it doesn’t take much. It also lathers so well! Hinoki is actually a type of cypress tree that is native to Japan. This a the description from Nordstrom’s website. “This shampoo contains macadamia to repair hair, rosemary leaf to stimulate and rice extract to strengthen. The second ingredient in the shampoo is sls. So if you're avoiding that then don't buy this shampoo. This will clean your hair, it's not a moisturizing shampoo. So use a high moisture conditioner after if you have dry or curly hair. I used the same scent conditioner after and my hair felt good but they need more styling and moisturizing products. Just these two don't cut it for definition. The smell is pleasant like an earthy spa smell. But the smell is faint and doesn't last long. There's better out there for the price. You're paying just for the name.

I’ve been trying to find a new shampoo and tried pureology first, but it left my hair feeling dry and never looked nice no matter how I styled it. I think le labo is severely underrated and my hair looks so healthy and clean when using this. I was a little hesitant on the scent, but love it as it’s a more earthy smell but is so calming. Can’t recommend this shampoo enough
This shampoo is very moisturizing and gentle, however I found the scent to be much too strong. Also, it darkened my hair. I have naturally light hair with salon highlights, I have to have it redone. I do love the shower gels however, and the scents are much lighter than the shampoo scents. The gels for the shower are very silky and moisturizing.
I love the smell of this shampoo! It's heady and musky and sensual and lingers into the next day! I have fine, curly hair - don't use heat tools or color my hair and, generally, am pretty much just wash and go. This shampoo gets my scalp pretty clean on the first wash and leaves it really lightweight and soft. Minimal frizz. It does, unfortunately, make my scalp kinda itchy. I don't use any other products with sulfates, so that may be what's causing this, or another ingredient that my skin isn't used to. No flakes or other physical symptoms, just itchy. I've used this shampoo about 6 times, alternating with my others, so I know it's specific to this product and not a one-off thing.I don't know if I'd try this again, I didn't realize it had sulfate when i originally ... MoreI love the smell of this shampoo! I tried a sample of this and I loved the smell so I thought I would try the full size. On the plus side it still smells great, its a green woody smoky smell thats so lovely, however as a shampoo its quite poor. I find it very drying, it made my scalp very flaky and also made my hair quite rough and sort of poofy/frizzy, even my partner who never notices these things said my hair looked a bit 'big and messy' - I do have long thick hair, maybe it would be better for fine hair as a volumising shampoo? To be honest I wasn't expecting it to be a good shampoo, you are basically paying for the Le Labo name and the smell so i'm not that disappointed but as its quite expensive I don't think i'd buy again. You see on the bottle all the lovely plant based ingredients. Once purchased, on the back is the full list. At the top of the list, second only to water, is SLS. Certainly not moisturising and strips colour if hair is dyed. To give JLP credit, they have refunded, but this brand is not what it seems. Not the fault of JLP, as other retailers including the Le Labo website fail to list full ingredients. The only website that did is Cult Beauty.
I brought this shampoo for a family friend and he says it's top drawer, above anything he has had before. We frequently buy nice shower gels, shampoos but la labo definitely is the best one he's used and even I'm considering buying one myself. Expensive it may be but from what I have heard totally worth it. Only downside is the bottle doesn't look inspiring but once used it changed our minds.
My wife and I actually heard about this shampoo from a video with Sunmi explaining what products she uses. She mentioned this shampoo and the way it smells, so we decided to pull the trigger and test it out. My gosh. I can't explain how amazing this smells after using it, along with the feeling you get when you smell it throughout the day knowing it's your hair. The smell reminds me of a fruity but earthy Aesop product cranked up to 10. Aside from the smell it definitely allows my hair to be styled easier and looks nicer than when I used Tsubaki. It gives you that clean feeling while making your hair look like you just walked out of a salon.
