This is one of my favorite places by Frank Lloyd Wright and was so excited when Lego announced that it would be the next set in the Architecture series. Like the other FLW sets, there is great attention to detail in this set and when all completed, it looks fantastic! The only reason I didn't give it a 5/5 for play experience is because it does get a little monotonous in some sections and I found myself getting a little board building the same little sections over and over again. Plus, this one makes great use of the tiniest bricks, so your finger tips may hurt by the end. But it was all worth it and this has quickly become one of my favorites in the series. Well worth the price.

I was excited when i saw the new peice by Lego. I didn't find the set monotonous at all. This set i set i actually spent the time to seperate the different types of peices. The reason were there are ton of small 1 and 2 dot peices to be put together. This peice rivals the Robie House set, in some places I think there is more detail in the Hotel over the Robie house. There were many different building techniques used to put together the hotel. I like the use of the rectangle tiles for the roof, it has a nice look. This and the Robie House are my 2 favorites with the Falling Water coming in 3rd. I own the whole collection :)I would say this was one of the more challenging peices in the Architecture Series mainly do to the different techniques used to build it. But a ... I had to take it appart to get to them, i over looked the fact they were tan dot and not grey ones and need the grey ones for the last step.More Frank Lioyd peices please... so far they have been the the better build expierences.

My addiction to the Lego Architecture range continues... The Imperial Hotel is the 3rd Model (after White House and Big Ben). This time, I decided to go big and see what Lego really had to offer me.I can assure you, I wasn't disappointed! Took a couple of mornings to build and as ever, the attention to detail is staggering!Again, the quality of the box and manual are the usual great stuff from Lego, A lot of pages to show the step-by-step guide on building it.Huge detail throughout, especially building all the window sections which has a large number of tiny pieces to make the overall effect look stunning. An absolute work of art and by far the best Lego Architecture set I have built so far, you wont be disappointed!Next purchase, Robie House, I am ... I'm a mom of boys 5 and 3 and now, a new Lego fan. I love Frank Llloyd Wright and this set caught my eye at the Lego store at LegoLand in California. It's a beautiful model, well designed, loved the lines of the building and it was a fun build. A few sections was a little confusing for me but for an adult who's never put any of these models together before, I'm hooked. I hope they other FLLW buildings like Taliesin. Can't wait to see the next one!
This was a fun set to build, the result is a majestic display model that's well worth the effort! This set uses a lot of different Lego building techniques, which kept it from being a monotonous project. The details are amazing, considering that it was made with Legos. Every 5 pages or so of instructions continued to transform the model in significant ways, which is always welcome - to see actual progress as you're doing the build. My compliments to the artist, and Lego for this superb set!The box is very nicely done, and the booklet is very informative. A generous amount of photos compliment the historical text as you flip through. This was my first exposure to Frank Lloyd Wright, and the information presented by Lego prompted me to do some additional research. ... This was my first exposure to Frank Lloyd Wright, and the information presented by Lego prompted me to do some additional research. I'm now a fan of Wright's works and vision and will look to visit some of his works in person, and doing some similar Lego builds - Fallingwater is next.Looking forward to more!
This is a really nice looking model with lots of detail - more than the Robie House even, despite its small size. The build was challenging, but doesn't take too long (took me about 5 hours total I'd say).Like the other Wright pieces, there's some tedious "brick laying" as it were, especially with the windows in this piece. But the model is small enough that it doesn't actually take too long. Just a note: the roof is not removable either. Also, I had to give the "play" experience 4/5 because the instructions were super shiny and make it hard to see. The finished model is amazing though.
Love the challenge of the bigger kits, and this kit is fun. The instruction booklet is great and there is a lot of information about the hotel. Nice representation of the hotel. Fun for any Frank Lloyd Wright fan.
As exterior aesthetics go, it is hard to beat those on this model. The instructions are easy to follow, however some care must be taken with the book to avoid it falling apart. The scale and detail of the model makes it appropriate to be a feature model of a collection (which is what I have done). The value of this set is good at around 15c AU per brick. My build time was five and a half hours however I took extreme care and could rush at four hours. I would reccommend this product to people withat least four years of building experience.
I'm a little biased as I'm a big fan of Frank Lloyd Wright's work (but not necessarily his personality) and have been fortunate enough to see several of his works in person. This, while on a small scale, is a nice addition to the architecture series. I've built all of the architecture and landmark offerings from Lego. This is similar to the other FLW buildings in that you have a lot of small, repetitive pieces and steps. My last seven lego builds have been modular buildings and the monster house. So, it took a little patience to get back to a sub 2000 piece count set with a majority of very small components. It seemed as if 50% of the build time was on 10% of the building (windows). That's okay, because that's the nature of a FLW building. Still, if you have a ... That's okay, because that's the nature of a FLW building. Still, if you have a problem with a lot of very small pieces, this probably isn't the build for you.The building makes for a nice desk size display/conversation piece, favorably comparable with the Fallingwater Lego set.My main complaint is with the colors chosen by the Lego designer. I wish they would have used colors more in line with the actual colors of the Imperial Hotel. A little too much sand color in the lego model and not enough darker colors. With that said, the design of this Lego product compares very favorably with the actual building.I hope Lego continues with this series and offers a mega piece count project for a FLW building. Both the Imperial Hotel and Fallingwater would be great in a 5000 plus piece count set. Rumors say there is a larger version of the Sydney Opera House on its way for later in the year. I hope so. If we can't have a FLW building in the 5,000 piece count area, the Sydney Opera House would be great. Thanks for another good offering in the architecture series.
I purchased the Imperial Hotel as I love the architecture series and want to make sure I am getting the most value for the money. FLW's Imperial Hotel does not disappoint. At almost 1,200 pieces there you will have bricks all over your workstation. If you are not an organized builder you will be after completing this set.The most common complaint is the amount of drone like brick laying with the clear and gray 1x1 studs. While I can see how some may find that part of the build boring I didn't find it to be that big of a problem. You can take your time and work on other parts of the build if you get too bored but the dimensions are fairly small so the brick laying won't take too long. All in all this is a perfect set for display in either the home or office.
