Very easy to set up and use. The quality is excellent, with very accurate cuts. You may need to make small adjustments as per the manual to get perfect angles, but once it is done it works brilliantly.

Upgraded my old evolution saw after many years use. This thing is in a different class, quieter, more accurate and lighter to carry around. The trigger and guard mechanism are much better too, plus a work light and accurate laser. Can't rate durability and reliability as I've only just got it, but has a 3 year warranty for trade use

I bought this after much research, with a desire for cordless. After pitting against the (slightly dearer DeWalt DCS365) I went with this, as the cordless sliding saws come out so heavy that I traded off the cost and weight over having it battery operated. It needed slight calibration out of the box, which was easy enough with a screwdriver and roofing square. The LED can also be adjusted to suit. It folds down to a reasonable size (a lot smaller than the box it arrives in) and can be lifted single-handedly.Yes, it doesn’t have a brake, and it only bevels one side but for the price is great.

Bought a mitre saw out of a desire to make picture frames. Realised just how useful it is for precision length cutting as well as precision angles. Bunnings got it to the store within a few days. When I got it home, I checked if it was square with a digital protractor, it was out by nearly a degree. The instructions did not help me much with this. Eventually I adjusted the fence but this probably means the laser is not square. Not a big issue as I would only use the part of the laser beam nearest the laser as a rough guide that my workpiece is in the right spot. You still need to make sure your blade edge is lined up as you would with other types of rotating saw, and take the kerf into account as usual. Sawdust spray is terrible but pretty much all behind the saw, ... MoreBought a mitre saw out of a desire to make picture frames. Sawdust spray is terrible but pretty much all behind the saw, bag does very little and attaching my shop vac does not much more, but I gather this is an issue with most mitre saws. Sliding function is excellent, there seems to be no wobble to it. Makes it possible to cut small thing pieces of wood with precision. I love this saw, am using it for so many cuts now. Would have given it 5 stars if instructions were better and if it was square from the factory.
Ideal, middle-of-the-road mitre saw. Cuts cleanly.Doesn’t weigh a great deal, folds up to a decent size (a lot smaller than the box it comes in!) and is packed full of features.Great saw if you’re going corded - it was a toss-up between this and the DeWalt 365, but as I’m blue I didn’t want a different set of batteries / to risk using battery adapters. If only this one came cordless (the cordless Makita offerings are huge). It did some need slight calibration out of the box (saw angle - laser is spot on).
You can't go wrong with Makita and this mitre saw is no exception. Up to their usual high engineering standards. As with any precision tool, it's well worth setting up accurately to achieve perfect cuts. Everything on the saw is adjustable, so fine tuning is straightforward. The saw is neither heavy nor bulky, so ideal for site work. The ability to cut across a foot wide is very useful and most smaller sliding mitre saws can't quite do it. A great compromise between size, cost and effectiveness coupled with Makita reliability.
Back fence was out of shape. Impossible to calibrate to cut correct angle and pointer for bevel angle isn’t accurate enough. Sent back
Ive had a trusty electra beckum mitre saw some 30yr. It was great but heavy, to heavy as im getting older. This makita i bough because its a lot lighter but in truth it is such a huge jump up. Its more user friendly and versatile. I must say its brilliant.
Good overall design and function. There are some things I don't like. The motor sounds rough and the slide action is not very smooth. There is an accuracy issue when cutting wide boards. Up to about 6" it is not really noticeable but cutting wider boards 10" to 12" the cut is not perfectly straight. Noticeable when butting wide floor boards. I think this is due to the 2.4mm blade flexing. This does sound a bit gloomy but I think overall it is a pretty good saw for the price.
I've got several projects around the house and renting was not an option anymore. I started looking for a mitre saw that is easy to move around, has relatively long cross-cut and is good for non-pro but relatively experienced DIY guy. After quite extensive research I narrowed down my list to few 10" and 8.5" models and eventually decided on Makita LS0815FL and got it at local Rona store. I have spent over 3 days working with this saw and must say it is a pure fun. The soft-start (torque-eliminating) feature and the electric brake alone are two wonderful features, not available in many other models. Laser indicator of cutting line is immensely helpful when working in low-light conditions and a-must for those who do not have superb vision. The soft-start (torque-eliminating) feature and the electric brake alone are two wonderful features, not available in many other models. Laser indicator of cutting line is immensely helpful when working in low-light conditions and a-must for those who do not have superb vision. The rails operate smoothly, all regulations, latches and knobs are intuitive and work just as you think they should. The overall quality of the saw seems to be very solid. The main and the carrying handles are very ergonomic and made of nice rubbery material. Few other non-metallic parts (like knobs) are made of hard and sturdy composites, definitely not a "cheap plastic". Finally, this saw operates smooth and makes perfect cuts. The original/factory-mounted 8.5"/48 teeth Makita blade, powered by 10.5A/5000 RPM motor, delivers a lot of power. Cutting through 1.5" maple timber feels like going through the butter. For finer cuts I mounted 7.25"/60T blade. Because of smaller diameter I added a makeshift plate made of 3/4" sheet of plywood and, again, I've got perfect cutting experience. I can confirm this saw can easily do 12.5" cross-cuts, which is extraordinary for its size. One minor thing to improve is the location of LED flashlight, which should be mounted higher because it almost completely obscured by the fence. Other than that, this saw is absolute bang-for-the-buck deal and highly recommended tool.
