Having previously had STIHL petrol chainsaw, I was sceptical about purchasing an electric one. This is less noisey, less fumes, the weight is much the same and hopefully less maintenance. It cuts very well. Would suggest for light to meduim use around the garden, especially in a built up area due to noise. Ideal for garden maintenence and logging. I use a lot for cutting logs for the wood burner.

Excellent bit of kit if you're chopping logs in your back garden.Didn't struggle at all even through some huge rounds of birch. Just ploughed right through like the proverbial hot knife through butter.Beats the bow saw I've been using for the last 10 years.Easy to assemble and didn't miss a beat. Filled my log store up in no time.

Awesome saw!

Ive only used gas powered chainsaws for the past 45 years. Ive been eyeing this saw up at Home Depots rental section for a while but didnt want a used tool. It looked and felt very rugged in the hands. So for Fathers Day my wife ordered one for me. I couldnt wait to try it out. Ran the power cord out to the wood pile and dug in. No fussing with oil/gas mix or having to start it. That alone was a great time saver. This saw worked as well as any of my many gas saws but without all the fussing beforehand. I highly recommend this high quality tool for anyone familiar with preparing their wood supply for winter.

Great saw, refurbishment is sketchy
24 January 2022

This saw works great, seems to be well made, and should hold up. It has plenty of power, bearing down on it will not cause it to stall, so in that regard it performs similar to a small gas powered saw but without the smell, noise, vibration, pull starting, repairs, maintenance costs, and fuel/oil mixing. This saw was refurbished, so it came at a good price and with a lengthy list of items that were "factory checked off" to verify its satisfactory condition. Not on that list was a check of the chain tensioner which is evidently why the previous owner sent it back. I had to repair it before I could install a chain, which by the way, was supposed to be included but was overlooked. I'm still wating to hear from someone... It cuts like butter, but.......
20 January 2022

This saw cuts great, but the only two issues I have with it are that the instructions recommend only 50 feet of #12 extension cord (who has trees to cut that are only 50 feet from the house?) and it intermittently will stop for no apparent reason. Not sure if the safety button is being depressed completely with my gloves on or if the trigger switch has a bad contact. Otherwise, it cuts like butter with plenty of power. I burned the brushes out of 2 competitors' saws cutting firewood for my shop in what I would call ideal situations, but this saw has held up for me aside from the 2 aforementioned issues. The intermittent stopping is more of a nuisance that anything else. I've been cutting hickory wood and taking it directly to the splitter. Makita 110 volt chainsaw

This is ideal for my saw horse. Which incorporates a chainsaw attachment. The problem when I used this with the petrol chainsaw was I had to take it off every time I needed to refuel! And put in bar lubricating oil! And then clamp it back into the sawhorse and start it up again. As the bar oiler on the Makita UC4051/A is easy to access and fill without dissembling from the sawhorse! And the chainsaw has a soft start which makes it even safer to use

Makita 16" corded chainsaw
30 May 2023

This is a powerful saw cutting quicker and easier than my gas-powered saw of the same size. It is also much quieter than a gas-powered saw making it easier on me and my neighbors. It is also easier than a battery-driven saw because you don't need to change and charge anything.

Quality chainsaw and doesn't struggle
16 March 2021

This chainsaw is really good. I can only compare it to my previous chainsaw, which in complete honestly wasn't great and probs not comparable. This chainsaw made light work of a fairly big tree -35/40cm diameter - and didn't struggle. The chain hasn't come off once - I used it for a couple of hours straight. The chainsaw is easy to assemble, too. No complaints.

Review of MAKITA UC4051A 240V 40CM ELECTRIC CHAINSAW
13 July 2017

I bought this to replace my third Bosch electric chainsaw and complement my Stihl petrol saw. This is a premium product, nicely balanced and a pleasure to use. The 050 chain is stronger and cuts more aggressively and much faster then then skinny chain on most electric chainsaws. I greatly prefer the longitudinal motor arrangement, it makes the saw handle better, especially when cutting horizontally. Half the price of the Stihl electric which is probably equivalent, I'm not sure it could be better. Makita also has high grade flex cable and trigger.

Why didn't I do this sooner!
18 June 2017

I just took delivery of this 16" electric chair saw and ran it through 2 large fallen madrona 8 to 10 inch limbs. The saw made short work of the project. After 35 years of messing with a variety of gas driven saws, I found this saw to be smooth, quiet and trouble free...and it cuts like a bugger! There is a bit of a learning curve to tighten the chain but after 10 minutes of screwin' around adjusting the tension, it was ready to go, I really liked the fact that the saw stops when the trigger is released. This is very handy when you have to lay the saw aside while you move the wood to a good cutting position. I live off the grid, so I ran the saw on a Honda 2000 watt generator with no problem. So far I am tickled pink with this Makita. If you are cogitating buying ... MoreI just took delivery of this 16" electric chair saw and ran it through 2 large fallen madrona 8 to 10 inch limbs.
