Since I have a long history of anemia, I have needed to take an iron supplement. The ferrous sulfate that is commonly sold had the side effect of intestinal pain, so I was unwilling to take it. My GI physician assistant suggested that I try the gluconate form. This is what I took during my pregnancies and tolerated it quite well. This is why I now only take the gluconate form. It is difficult to find, so it has been very good to have it readily available from Swanson.

I have an iron deficiency (anemia) and take ferrous gluconate every day. These tablets are good, but I had to go up to prescription strength to reverse my condition.
If you need to take an Iron supplement, get this one... if iron supplements tend to induce NAUSEA. Why? This type of iron supplement, Ferrous Gluconate, does not cause stomach upset - at least with me or my family. That's why we would give it the maximum 5-stars.
It’s difficult to find iron supplements that don’t block up your bowels. Ferrous gluconate, especially taken with 100 mg of Vitamin C, is the best option I’ve found. Have used it for years. 👍
