They did not send me a wrong size tyre, it is a 2.25 tyre on paper that really is 2.1 when measured. The knobs are ok, however the size descrepancy is not acceptable. I was looking to update my 2.25 Ardent tyre for the Rekon, which is advertized as grippier on corners and braking. Nonetheless, you cannot have a grippier tyre with smaller knobs and above all, being much narrower when it is supposed to be as wide.

Best OE replacement part ever. Let me start off by saying that I have never had I bad experience with WTB tires. But the ones that came stock on my Salsa Timberjack were JUNK! So I upgraded to the Rekon, DUDE it's like night and day. I mean I hardly pedal anymore. They don't lose momentum, they just glide over everything.. I'm stoked!

This is really becoming the only option if you want to run plus tires for bikepacking. They aren't the best, but they're ok. The tread wears out after a season, but that my be expected.

A great alternative to heavier casings like the Dissector or Minion, but is more substantial than the Ikon. I ride a lot of flint-strewn trails and square-edge boulder gardens and the Rekon navigates them well as a rear tire. I have the 2.6 on my Kona Process mounted to a WTB i30 rim. Great profile, not too bulg-y on the sides, mounts and holds air well.
Honestly these tires suck in mud ones the grooves get filled but in all other conditions these tires are amazing. If you know there’s mud and you have other rims with tires on you’d probably want to switch them. For next year I plan on using my other tires for the start and end of the season but in between I plan on using these tires for sure. If you live somewhere where it rains a lot or is constantly muddy I wouldn’t recommend it but as long as it’s somewhat dry you should definitely buy these.
The Recon is my go to tire for my local trails in North GA. I use the 29/2.40WT on both front & rear of my YT Izzo and find them to be quick rolling on the flats with good traction in the corners. Trail conditions for me is damp to dry hardpack with loose dirt in the spring/summer and leaf fall in fall/winter. If the trails are really wet & muddy I park the bike and run.
I used the Rekon for about 3 min until they fell to a puncture. My bros Kendal’s and bontranger’s both survived the trail. Looking for a new tire. May go back to Schwable, which worked for me for multiple years.
This is a smooth fast rolling big tire that is good in most conditions excepting mud. The weight is not too bad, especially for the 120 TPI version. If you crash throu rock gardens at max speed, you should look for something more robust with a DH casing.
I’ve had a bizarre interaction with this tire...I want to love it. The combo of grip and rolling resistance are amazing as a rear tire, however I can’t consistently keep it from getting punctured right in the middle of the tread.Story time: I put the 2.25” EXO Rekon on the rear of my last bike (2018 Cannondale Scalpel SE 1) about a year ago and had 0 issues, ran it for 6 months til it was almost bald. Got a replacement and got a flat on my first ride out. Thought it was a fluke so plugged it and went out again, another flat. Both were small punctures right in the middle of the tread over mildly rocky XC-type trails here in central Alabama. After puncture 2 I gave up and put a different tire on before I wound up selling the bike.Skip to about 6 weeks ago, bought an ... After puncture 2 I gave up and put a different tire on before I wound up selling the bike.Skip to about 6 weeks ago, bought an Evil Following V3 and replaced the stock dual DHFs with a Dissector/Rekon combo to get her rolling faster. This time, thinking I’d learned my lesson, I got the 2.4” EXO+ version. The EXO+ version made it a whopping 4 rides before getting punctured right in the middle of the tread, same as before. This time I just took it straight off and put the dissector on the back and a DHF back up front. It’s not perfect, I’d prefer to be able to run the Rekon because it is theoretically a perfect rear tire for my local trails, however after 8 rides the dissector out back has held up great.I should add that I’m not the lightest at 6’4” and 195lbs. Your mileage may vary if you’re sub 160lbs. If you’re over that I wouldn’t risk it. For additional reference the standard EXO was being run at 30 psi and the EXO+ at 28psi so it wasn't like I was just out there pinching it at 16psi or anything. I can’t explain why the first Rekon I tried was perfectly fine and the 2 since have been duds, even with a tougher casing. But with odds like that I couldn’t recommend this tire.
Tires are more durable than I have expected so far. They are lasting under trail and most impressively; the road. If this continues, I'll be shopping here again
