I got some low-top Moabs in 2016. They lasted 6 years and were waterproof for 5 of them. I got these hi-top tactical Moabs in October 2022. They fit great with my wide feet and bunions. But my socks are getting soaked through already in April 2023. I walk a dog 3x a day in the eternal rain of NW Oregon. I'm disabled and poor. I bought a $160 pair of boots because I assumed they would last another 5 years like the last ones did. It's not even raining right now but the grass is uncut and damp, and just walking thru that is enough for my socks to be completely soaked within 10 minutes.Extremely disappointed. Didn't even last a year. They would probably last a couple more years at least, but they're useless here if they're not waterproof. I can't afford to buy $160 ... These should have lasted another 5 years like the last pair of Moabs I had. Another example of companies going cheap, reducing their costs and product quality while increasing prices. The 2016 Moabs were waterproof for 5 years with the same daily walks in the rain, off the trails. These were waterproof for 6 months! And the zippers are junk. When I first got them I unzipped one of the zippers and it got stuck. Almost couldn't get it back up. Eventually did get it back up and decided to never touch them again. But they slowly work their way down on their own. Luckily I've been able to get them back up.I just really can't believe they're not waterproof at all anymore after only 6 months! $160! For 6 months!I sent an email a few days ago asking for a replacement or a 90% discount on a new pair of a different model that is known to be more reliably waterproof. Of course I haven't gotten a response.I'm tired of getting robbed! Everything is cheap junk these days, even when it cost a lot of money.

Pros: Very comfortable boot to where 60 hours a week walking.Cons: Walking on anything wet is like walking on ice with these soles. They have absolutely no water resistance whatsoever. Just walking through wetgrass your toes get soakedI am a mail carrier and bought these at Cabelas in December to have a nice new pair of boots for winter. Walking and standing for 50+ hours a week they are comfy as can be but having no water resistance at all kind of defeats the purpose when you are in the cold wet winter elements all day everyday. I will most likely be returning these as soon as I can get back there and try something else.

Let me begin this post by saying that I am extremely critical of anything I put on my feet. Army and Law Enforcement experience has taught me to be. I bought this pair of boots over 18 months ago at the Merrell store in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.I work in law enforcement and my position in my department has me strictly serving arrest warrants. Some of the guys run, hide, and get in weird places to avoid apprehension. We go through the woods, over mountains, and through messed up terrain. I do my job regardless of terrain and weather. I am also on the SWAT team in my department and wear these boots. As you can expect, boots play a vital role in how effective I am at my job. I am also on the SWAT team in my department and wear these boots. As you can expect, boots play a vital role in how effective I am at my job. I had a friend of mine recommend these boots to me and I decided I would give them a try.The initial cost of these boots was not outlandish and when I put them on I noticed how lightweight they were. One thing I also noticed was that they would need broken in slightly. Nonetheless, I began wearing them full-time and wanted to see what I thought about them. In the first shift I broke them in, and I never found a moment where traction or comfort was an issue. I work in Northeast Tennessee and we get plenty of snow/ice in the winter and heat in the summer. These boots have been more than sufficient for both. One compromise with these boots is the water proofing. My feet have been wet in them but it was because I was in some extremely wet conditions. After 18 months, I noticed that a part of them (Near the toe, on the right side, on the left boot) had been torn. This is likely from a search and rescue mission I helped work and there were many sharp rocks and horrible terrain that needed to be negotiated. I have not noticed a difference with the boots comfort wise and this appears to be cosmetic at the moment. Nonetheless, I decided to buy another pair because of how good they have been. I am a creature of habit who does not deviate from things that are dependable. These boots are a great example. I bought a second pair from Amazon just because they were a little cheaper than this site. Nonetheless, the reason I bought them again is because I know I am getting a pair of boots that can handle extreme abuse, allow me to chase after those who run from me (without being hindered by weight), and last me a long time.Given the abuse I put these boots through, I cannot see any reason to go with Salomons, Danner, Under Armour, or any other brand. These have been so good to me for the past 18 months, that I decided to go to the Merrell website, find the boots, and write this long narrative in hopes that someone else will understand the quality of boots these are.

I've had these boots about two months. The use is trail walking on our land, I haven't used them for any other activities. About a week ago I noticed the right side heel of the sole was missing a substantial chunk. It is just below the vibram logo on right side heel. This really bummed me out, as they fit well. Two days after purchase from local outdoor fitter, I recycled the box and receipt. Did NOT anticipate this happening at all. Hopefully Merrell will honor my replacement, absolutely didn't get anywhere near a year with these unfortunately. ALSO, if your tag has rubbed against your sock as seeing its a boot, and that will surely happen, Merrell will say that can't prove when it was made/sold. So KEEP YOUR RECEIPT !
Absolutely love my new Merrell Moab 2 Tactical 8in Boots!!!Spent 5 hours shoveling snow in -10F Blizzard last night. My feet stayed dry and warm the entire time!Had to go in and out of the house numerous times. The side zipper must have saved me 30 minutes of tying and untying my boots.Ordered myself a Wide size so my feet are comfortable. Great Sole, Lots of grip. Well insulated and waterproofed, but still lightweight somehow. These never feel too big and clunky.Honestly I couldn't be happier with these boots. I shopped a long time to find the right pair and I am glad to have found these.
Purchased approximately 3/4 months ago and I have been wearing them constantly. Putting them through the works. Rigorous use and terrain. Initially I purchased them for work and immediately I noticed they were considerably lighter, durable and warmer than my previous boots (great for winter).I’ve tested them on long days (12-18+hrs) of hikes, whether they be on concrete, trails or snow. They perform exceptionally and are more certainly waterproof.Love the size zip feature and they are true to size. Fair price for the quality. My only qualms with the boots are that the insoles are fairly firm/rigid so as you can imagine after long days on foot my feet can get fairly sore. They are warm (sure great for winter) but the “impermeable” feature does not breathe as ... Not a big deal in most cases but considering I initially got these for a Professional purpose it has proven to be a bit of a nuisance.Though Ultimately I’m glad with these.I bet they’d be killer/that much better if Merrell introduced they’re comfier insoles into these.
I had bought a pair of these same combat boots about 2 years ago and they were the most comfortable boots I'd ever purchased!!! They fit beautifully and performed perfectly. I figured since I had such good luck with them the first time, why go with anything else. Unfortunately the width seems to have changed, along with the overall fit and comfort. They aren't comfortable at all and are taking forever to break in. At some points throughout the day, they're just downright painful, especially around the ankle and top of my foot where my arch is at its highest point. Returning them isn't an option now per their return policy, so I'm kinda stuck with them now. Very disappointed after having such great success with my first pair.
I love these boots this is actualy the 3rd pair ive owned!! They are lightweight and comfortable. I do alot of training and excersize, as well as hiking. I am on my feet all day at work in a shop and outside alot. My feet aren't as sore as if i wear my heavy work boots. so i use them for light work. They have a zipper on them so they are easy to take on and off. The sole of them is super freat for traction in dirt , rocks, mud, sand, even ice and snow. They are stitched cloth and synthetic lether material, so they are broken down easly i would recomend for light duty use. they are my favorite pair of boots. I will probably going to continue to buy them as long as they are sold and made!
Just got my boots. I love them, super comfortable but also have a stiff support around the ankle. It really feels like there is no way to roll my ankle in these, no matter how much weight I'm rucking with. I like that! But just wanted to give people a head's up. They run big. I love Merrell shoes and have gone through at least 6 pairs of their Moc's. In every Merrell I get I'm always a size 9 wide. I ordered these boots online in a 9 wide and they were huge on my feet. A Full thumb's width and then some between my big toe and the front of the shoe WITH super thick wool socks on. So i went to the brick and mortar store in Valencia to try some on. they didn't have wides, but they had an 8 1/2 and and 8. The length on the 8 was perfect but I needed a wide. So i ... I had some Moab low-top boots that lasted 6 years before the waterproofing stopped working. And I realized: what's the point of having waterproof boots if they're low-top? Can't stomp in puddles, debris always got in...Replaced them with these, hope they last another 6 years. I have wide feet and bunions. The 12 wide fits well and doesn't cause any pain. They're a bit heavy but debris doesn't get in.The zipper is sketchy: I zipped it down and it got stuck. Thought I wasn't gonna be able to get it back up but it finally went. I don't need to open the zipper to get them on so I'm never gonna touch them again. Too expensive to have a junk zipper.I walk my dog in Oregon thru grass and mud so these are perfect for that in the winter.
