I got this for my birthday. I have a hard time spending a lot of money on something that doesn’t seem like a “need.” Well, my life is changed and I could not live without this now. Seriously one of the best gifts I have ever received. Counter space is precious in my tiny kitchen so I was worried I would find it annoying to have one more thing on the counter. I love that you can swivel the tank to be on either side or in the back. I’m also a big fan of the used pod collection in the back. It holds a couple weeks worth of pods. The company has a pod recycling service where they send you a shipping bag, you fill it to the line with pods and then mail it back to them. I have used the single shot 40 ml pods twice through the same pod to get a double shot and I didn’t notice any issues doing that. The selection of pods will satisfy any coffee lover! I love that I can make 40 ml single espresso shot, 80 ml double espresso, 150 ml small coffee, 270 ml large coffee all in the same machine! I can’t recommend this enough. Pro tip- get the aeroccino milk frother and foamer. You can buy a protein shake (I use premier protein or muscle milk zero) to a high protein, low sugar latte!

Best investment

The VertuoPlus has been one of the best editions to my home. I’ve had numerous Keurig’s and I’ve always felt like the coffee tasted water down and didn’t have that nice rich coffee taste like how you would get from Starbucks ‘ even the “espresso” pods that Keurig had to offer. And then when you complain about it they tell you all will sell you another one for 35% discount. And when you buy it it will break down again. This makes no sense at all. I guarantee you I would’ve positive reviews of people who just got their machine and had it for a year less but just watching the future how many negative reviews from the same people will show up. Instead of offering people at 35% discount on another machine that will break down into years unless they should build a better machine that doesn’t break down into years or less.

Good machine until it wasn’t-Crazy troubleshooting

We are on our third Nespresso machine. Our two previous machines still work but we decided to upgrade to Vertuo Plus two and a half years ago. It worked fine until a couple of weeks ago and then it just stopped. I went online to learn how to reset it but that didn’t work so I called the help line at Nespresso. After close to an hour and fifteen minutes, multiple resets, safety pin cleanings and toothbrush and soapy hot water scrubbing, I was told that my machine was broken (duh? I knew that brilliant piece of advice before I even called because I had done my homework) and was told I could either pay $65 to get it fixed or 35% off to buy a new machine. Great Machines & Coffee

Bought this machine to replace one that I have and had continuous problems with, I purchased one of these for my sister & she has had 0 problems so I bought the same model hoping I will have better luck with this model vs the other one. The adjustable water tank is great so you can place machine almost anywhere. The accompanied milk frother is great to have I didn't purchase one because I have one already, and the adjustable cup holder its definitely necessary if you like different types of coffee. Also they have a good variety of color selections to please almost any one. Love the Nespresso machines & coffee. I will only purchase directly from Nespresso never again from another store I think that's where the problem with my old machine started. Nespresso stands behind there products and customer service has always been excellent. I started out with an original pod machine over 10yrs ago & upgraded to the Vertuo line 3yrs ago. I still have all 3 machines. Never purchase after market pods they don't work, found that out with the original line, always always buy Nespresso pods (they always have great incentives & free merchandise) which is a great perk :) !

Reliable, delicious elevated coffee experience

We bought this machine about 1 year ago and have used it nearly every day since with perfect, delicious coffee! Previously, we had an Original line with a milk frother and absolutely loved it. Then we decided when family comes over we should have some thing that makes a full cup of coffee for them and turns out that we absolutely love the 7.7 ounce cup and flavors. Had been thinking about upgrading to the VirtuoNext so we can make a carafe of coffee with the pour over option only available in that model. After reading reviews for the Virtuo Next, we will DEFINITELY be sticking with our reliable, perfect as it is VertouPlus until Nespresso works out the kinks in the Next model. As a longtime Keurig owner who also enjoyed her french press and making her own pour overs, I thought the Nespresso was too limiting in its coffee selection (can't use off-brand beans), limiting in its brew size options, and generally overhyped. Then, I chanced upon a Nespresso sale and, on a whim, bought a VertuoPlus and placed it next to my top-of-the-line Keurig. A month later, I realized that I had been reaching for my Nespresso almost every single morning; my Keurig sat entirely unused. And by the time I ran out of capsules and logged into the Nespresso website to place an order, I did the math...and I became an all-out convert. Yes, it is a little annoying that I have to keep an assortment of capsules to satisfy my varying coffee needs (sometimes, I feel like an Americano; other times, I feel like an espresso; yet other times, I feel like a giant mug of joe), and peering at the capsules to match brew size to glass/mug is a minor hassle. But (1) the Nespresso heats up way faster than the Keurig, (2) the Nespresso brews much hotter than the Keurig, and (3) the Nespresso produces much deeper flavor than the Keurig. My best friend comes over nearly every day, and after experiencing my Nespresso coffees for a few weeks, she splurged on a Nespresso machine, too -- and the two of us agreed, "Keurig coffees taste so watered down now." Not long after that, I retired my neglected Keurig to the garage (and eventually gave it away).When my VertuoPlus started leaking a few years in, I contacted Nespresso customer service and was shocked. (1) I was able to speak to a live human with very little wait, and (2) his service was impeccable. How refreshing! As this was at the very start of the pandemic, he warned me that repairs may take an unusually long time -- so he offered to exchange my faulty machine for a brand new one (any machine, my choice) at no cost to me! After quickly researching, I settled on the Nespresso Next, which had only been released in the US that week, even though it had no reviews whatsoever anywhere, because of its supposedly smaller footprint (I have a small kitchen with limited counter space). The Next was actually slightly cheaper than the VertuoPlus, but I didn't mind at all, since they were replacing my years-used VertuoPlus for a brand new machine. But no -- the rep added a few sleeves of coffee (my choice!) to even out the cost differential. How awesome is that!The Next was great, but it took a little getting used to the lid mechanism (as I'd been acclimated to the auto open/shut of the VertuoPlus). And if I really had to nitpick, the manual open/shut/lock was probably the only pain -- guests often required a quick tutorial because it took a decent amount of force/pressure to properly clamp shut and lock the lid (so many people thought it was broken until I showed them how to do it). All was well until, 2 years later, the Next started leaking, too, and stopped brewing altogether. Figuring I'd gotten about 4-5 years of use for the cost of one machine (plus, I was out of warranty at this point), I purchased a new machine -- and went for the VertuoPlus again, on a whim.And let me tell you, the auto open/close function that I thought was unnecessary is actually SO CONVENIENT. Maybe my guests and I are just weaklings, but the Next almost always required two hands to open/close/lock; automating this step with very light finger presses is a game changer! It's also important to note: the Next is advertised as having the smallest footprint out of all the Nespresso machines. But after owning two VertuoPlus machines and one Next, I must say...I can't tell the difference. At all. I also like the adjustable water tank on the VertuoPlus way better than the stationary one on the Next.I have a few off-brand reusable capsules, but the process seems messy and I'm lazy, so I've been happily restocking branded capsules for the last half decade. I'm still looking forward to the day that Nespresso machines, like Keurigs, can handle tea, too -- but even if they never do, I'm still a happy camper. This is a great machine!

However, when I tried my first sample at the store with the delicious crema on top, I was hooked. For some reason, using the capsules is easier than the k-cups. Each brew we've done - from espresso to decaf - has been excellent. The flavors offered appeal across my family as well. Some prefer expresso, or more traditional "drip", or even decaf. Along with the frother, we've been really enjoying the VertuPlus.It was easy to setup, but did take me a few minutes to understand the colors and blinking lights on the power button. But how nice to only have the one button and know the coffee will be perfect!! Glad we purchased this and ... MoreI bought this for fun. I made the decision to upgrade to the VertuoPlus after my Vertuo Next succumbed to the well-documented and widespread barcode read error issue after two years of use. After months of repeated cleanings and a frustrating number of wasted pods and time, I gave up and decided I needed a replacement. The VertuoPlus has been 100% reliable after two months of daily use. Unlike the Vertuo Next, the Plus has no mess within the brewing chamber. Hopefully this means no barcode read errors in the future. Other upgrades include a more fancy motorized lid opening and closing mechanism and a larger water reservoir meaning an increased interval between water refills. Brew quality is also slightly improved since I would sometimes get grounds in my coffee with the Vertuo Next. If you’re cross-shopping these two models, please heed my advice; there is only one true winner here: the Vertuo Plus. I estimate wasting a total of 50 pods over my two years of troubleshooting struggles with the Vertuo Next. Save yourself the frustration and go with the PLUS.

I just had to fill the water tank with water, click the button on top of the actual machine, and wait about 10-15 seconds for it to quickly heat the water. When the machine is ready, the button on top turns green. To open it, you lightly go to open the lid, and like a sensor, it just opens on its own. There’s a little compartment inside to put your coffee pod in the machine. I used the vanilla flavored coffee pod that I purchased separately.
