Overview:My first VR headset, I've had the Quest 2 for about a month. It's a blast, with some setbacks. For the investment required, I wish I would have waited for the Quest 3, or an alternative. Even two years on, it feels a bit like a novelty or an experimental model that promises more than it delivers. There are alternatives with superior hardware, but none could rival the game and app library of the Quest 2.Pros:- Impressive library of fun, often beautiful and even moving, content and games, and the ability to Sideload even more - many free.- Immersive, educational, fun, and beautiful experiences. The graphics are not going to blow you away, but wow moments abound.- Decent enough speakers without having to use headphones (wired headphones can be used, but ...Ā MoreOverview:My first VR headset, I've had the Quest 2 for about a month. The graphics are not going to blow you away, but wow moments abound.- Decent enough speakers without having to use headphones (wired headphones can be used, but not Bluetooth).- Decent 2 hr battery life - enough before you want a break anyway, unless you have other people waiting to play (see recharge time).- You can link your PC wirelessly or wired to play PCVR games as well - which can be stunning, even if limited by screen resolution.Cons:- Investment. The unit itself is $400. A library of 10 games can cost you in the range of another $300, with content significantly shorter than console/PC games. And there is more you may need to buy.- Discomfort. The included head-strap is almost unusable, the elite strap not much better. I settled with the BoboVR M2 Pro, another $66- Glasses users beware. It was uncomfortable and awkward wearing glasses, and I tried 3 differently-shaped/sized pairs. Also, I had to return my first headset because my glasses scratched the lenses, even with the included glasses spacer. Scared to scratch them again, I felt it necessary to order prescription lenses from WIDMOVR for $80, which were a bit of a disappointment in quality. They also slightly reduce your field of view and introduce incredibly distracting god rays on all text, which my glasses did not do. Not enough of a distraction to deter me from using them, but I'm very glad no one else in my house wears glasses.- Recharge time is about 2 hours, so if someone is waiting to play when you're done, you'll need to invest more cash for a battery pack strap or add-on.Summary:Knowing going in the quality/comfort issues, I would have waited for a significant price drop or a new model.

This is my first and only VR experience. With that said, in just the first few minutes, during the setup and updating process, my mouth was agape. The tutorial had me smiling in wonder at the feeling of immersion. The apps available natively to the Quest 2 are varied and fun, if not cheap, but there are demos and free games out there. We like is so much, we are probably buying a second in the near future. However, my favorite piece of this requires use of a decent PC and fast Wi-Fi: Oculus AirLink, currently in Beta, is a cable free connection to the Oculus program on your computer that allows use of Oculus Rift and Steam VR games. These are generally games that need the extra processing power of a real GPU, and offer better graphics and more complex environments than the Quest alone can provide. Google Earth VR, a free app that isn't on the Quest natively is, for me, worth the price of admission on its own. Being able to walk among the skyscrapers of NYC, or play Gojira in Tokyo is awe inspiring.A couple of minor cons: Battery life is poor. During our first days, when we were using it especially heavily, I had a battery pack and USB-C cable connected to the Quest that we'd swap into pockets to add play time. They make improved head-strap setups that include provisions for holding a battery.About that strap, some in my family complained about it, so we may be shopping for an upgrade. I can live with it, however. In low light, the guardian, the virtual barrier that is set to keep you from running into walls, can flake out, dropping you out of the game. And lastly, a big con for some folks: This requires an active, real, Facebook account. Deactivating your account deactivates your Quest. Deleting you account deletes, permanently, all of your purchased apps, with no refund. There are lots of reports regarding problems with folks using fake names, secondary accounts, other folk's accounts, etc. When there are problems, Facebook will delete or lock accounts, and render your Quest a brick. Customer service is reportedly horrendous when trying to fix these problems. My advice would be to use your real account, don't fudge around, and you should be fine. Yes, they are tracking you, Yes they are subsidizing the prices of these thing by commodifying your data. However, unless you are already complete social media hermit, getting in bed a little deeper isn't going to alter your data footprint in any significant way. If you are here shopping on Amazon with a cellphone in your hand or pocket, worrying about Facebook is sort of pointless.TL;DR - GET ONE. It's a great value within the reach of many people. You can have a ton of fun without a PC, and even more with one.

I would request also more games for younger, and also older VR users, and something new not just like every other game that gets released. Lots of hype. Thereās a lot of creativity apps on there that would theoretically be a good idea if they worked, but the majority of the things I have tried out end up crashing. Have a feeling this is gonna end up being a dust collector if they donāt make some serious changes. But hey they tried gotta give them that.

My son is much younger than the " suggested" age, but he is very easily bored and actually requires more challenging mental stimulation to keep from getting into mischief. I wanted to add more physical movement to his gaming, since its not like the 'go outside and play' era since no other kids are outside. It lets him still interact with actual people and burn off energy he had been having more mood swings from the lack of movement, I noticed a huge difference from. I love watching him move and get a kick out of how much he truly has mastered some of the games. I am getting his controllers and the entire thing fixed and in wirking order. He had NO ISSUES until one controller stopped holding any charge at all after about 7 months of hard core use. He had NO ISSUES until one controller stopped holding any charge at all after about 7 months of hard core use. If it can last with him, its truly remarkable. The games are affordable in comparison to the newest console that he also has. He has consistently used this over the PS model of VR. This is the future of more than gaming, its totally mind blowing and truly requires some skill and I can see myself becoming a fan or user myself if I can pry it from his head! It dies require arm room and it was a real battle when he had only tge living room as a space to use it...the punches we often were jabbed with, the heads up we are passing.. and dodging was definitely memorable..if not nuisance to his great grandmother. Funny thing is since its been in need if repair, she has been asking to get it fixed fir him because of the huge difference in how much his mood was improved with the use. You do require a facebook account, but that is because of the digital gaming aspect and I imagine to keep your purchases and other info for the right purposes. No different than any type of product with cloud capabilities. This is totally freestanding and you dont have to stand in front of a console or a camera to use it. There are no physical games, its all virtual. This will wear you out, and its limits are yet to be seen.

A really good VR headset for those on a budget, the Quest 2 provides a surreal amount of enjoyment for something that is pretty cheap considering other headsets. Major issues that need to be realized before purchasing:1. If you wear glasses, you must be careful, try to find a protection piece for your VR lenses as they can be scratched up, if you want, you can buy a product to repair the lenses if they do get scratched since itās Plastic Glass but thatāll ruin the glare protection and will require you to get another piece to cover that.2. There is only so much space the lenses can be apart, meaning that your sense of view is quite literally cut in half. Itās not a bad thing but if youāre expecting āfullā immersion then. Well tough luck.3. The tracking can be lost time to time after some use, itās pretty easy to lost some tracking so to avoid it, extensive maintenance is required, by that, I really mean to make sure your controllers are clean and your cameras. Those two need to be spot clean to work properly.5. The rubber face protector is fully recommended to be put on as the actual āsoftā protector will make your face red for a bit, especially when you tighten your elite strap hard like I usually do. The rubber protector is more comfortable throughout longer sessions.Overall? An amazing product that is totally worth the price. Are theyāre cons? Sure. But the Pros of having one outweigh the Cons. Fully recommended.

I have not discussed it with Meta to consider an exchange. The volume buttons arenāt in a position where itās easy to remember what is the up volume and what is the down volume. The power/sleep/reset button is ima terrible location. Itās very easy to press the power button when adjusting the headset for comfort. It feels like this headset was on a strict production deadline and Meta released it without giving their team enough time tow work all the kinks out. I purchased the Meta Quest Pro to use for productivity and I do like some of the programs like Workrooms, however, the program feels unfinished and more like itās in the beta phase.Maybe theyāll clean up some of the productivity software in the next year or so.Iāve enjoyed my headset and I will keep it, but the Quest 2 is still the best consumer headset available to date.
The oculus quest 2 is a virtual reality headset that provides the gamer with a full 360 experience. I was very EXCITED to play. I have been a fan of VR gaming since I was very young in middle school. When I saw it for the first time it was in this anime I watched called Sword Art Online. In the anime the main character gets stuck in a virtual reality game and the only way to escape is to beat the gameI was hooked ever since! It was really affordable considering it was a standalone console costing only $350. There is a more expensive version that is $400, the only difference is that it has more storage space. I bought the cheaper version. I would only recommend the more expensive one if there were multiple people using it and they each wanted diff games. When compared to other consoles -- XBox, PS5, Switch --it would usually run you about $500 at the leasts. The oculus quest 2 is a virtual reality headset that provides the gamer with a full 360 personal theater screen experience. When you first open the device it gives you a tutorial where it shows you how to set a barrier around yourself so that you are safe while you play. It works wonderfully almost anywhere but is best in big open spaces. It is an amazing piece of technology where you can play games and watch videos giving you a personal theater screen experience. It also allows you to play online with friends who also have an oculus. It's really simple as well, it's similar to the way you play with friends online on other devices ā Xbox, Play station, Nintendo. When I got the device I was able to play online with my friend who has it as well. We enjoy playing games like Gunraiders, Beat saber, and echo vr It was SO MUCH FUN!!! It is a very physical activity using this device, they have games for working out and sports ā boxing, fishing, baseball. I have also seen athletes use it to train. The headset is very durable. I dropped it and SMACKED!!! the controller on something numerous times and it still works perfectly. This is my first time ever using a vr console but I am very satisfied with the experience. It is a stand alone device so it works by itself. You can connect it to a computer, there are many streamers who do this so that they can share their experience with their viewers. Also with all the different apps on the device some people may use it to work out and stay active, it being a very physical gaming device. One thing that I don't like about it is that after a couple hours of playing it it can cause some strain on your eyes. Also there could be more adjustment capabilities. As of right now you can only adjust the head straps and eyes by pushing them apart or pulling them together. There are however accessories to combat these problems such as custom grips for controllers, different straps for the head piece, gaming headsets to improve the audio, a charger stand for the headpiece and controllers, and a case to store and protect all of these things. All together it's one of the best
