Purchased this with cold weather camping in mind. It did exactly as needed. Dramatically reduced condensation (not eliminated, but it was down to about 3 degrees outside). Easy to set up, and would recommend using with the spreader pole. Worthwhile if you have condensation issues!

This really enhances an already great tent. Must have for winter in keeping the condensation in your tent to a minimum. Also when in full sun, the fly provides shade making the tent much more comfortable. A very worthwhile purchase for year round camping.

An excellent tent that certainly goes up in 30 seconds, however, expect at least 10 to 15 minutes to fully peg it down and put the awning up. It needs the optional fly to stop condensation forming as it's only a single skin tent. All in all, it's an excellent and comfortable tent. We pitched it on a powered site in Tasmania and it was super comfortable during a heavy downpour and windy conditions overnight. The electrical flap hole in the side is genius and made it easy to run 240v into the tent for a small heater. We purchased the RV4 because its bigger size 2.4m also allowed our BCF Wanderer premium camp stretchers to fit without pushing against the sides and allows two people a lot of room to come and go. First time we used it on the RV-5 was early August in South East QLD, got close to 0°C overnight and a heavy dew in the morning. Kept the inside of the tent dry, no issues with condensation inside the tent. Only improvement I will be making is to get a spreader pole to go between the uprights so I don't have to tension the ropes so hard to keep a decent gap between the fly and the main tent.
Was overall impressed with the out of the box set up. It was very intuitive and really was a “30” sec set up minus the lines to secure it as far as the rent goes. Adding this rain fly was convenient as it integrates directly into the tent via zippers and some Velcro straps. As long as the Velcro lasts I feel confident in the seal. Time will test it as first trip with the set up will be in June.
The product appears a bit flimsy but it did stand up well to a severe test at first outing, however when I went to dismantle I realised that I had misaligned the zip by just one notch when I was attaching it to my RV 5 in windy conditions and poor light. It now seems as though it's stuck there as a permanent fixture unless I take to it with tools that will likely damage it, so pay attention when zipping it to your tent lest you wind up with a permanent fixture like I did!
First outing certainly assisted with keeping the tent cool, though a littler darker inside during the day. Couple points: 1. How does one stop the noise created by wind on the fly? I've tried everything I could short of taking it down. It's much worse than wind on the tent "canvas". 2. There were no assembly/erection instructions in the box or the carry bag. Pegs are very robust. There seem to be at least two ropes missing. Some ropes are longer than others and I can't work out the logic of which rope goes where, especially as I think that there are two missing.
Packed the fly up with the tent. Will use every time. Keeps cooler when sun is up and you can open windows if it is raining. It’s a no brainer. Worth the extra few minutes to set up.
After purchasing the RX5 Oztrail Tent with the expectation of it providing many years of trouble-free the reality is the RV Fly is the weakest link!!! Whilst the RX5 tent is bullet proof the fly failed in a moderate wind overnight (see photo) Whilst this only happened on 1 corner from approx 6 guy lines of the fly, but still disappointimg enough to leave a disheartened feeling about this fly lasting any more than 1 year. Even though is just out of warranty when this occurred, based on the 2000.00 price tag on this tent I didn't expect to have replace the fly so soon. By comparison, the fly of my cheap coleman tent from Kmart has survived over 5 years problem free.
We are into the 2nd month of constant use. Awesome product, had no issues. If you are thinking of adding a spreader bar on the fly for the RV5 you can’t use the Oztent ones that top out at 2.6m- the uprights are a tad wider and you will need something like the supapeg spreader that extends out to 2.75m. Also I don’t know if adding the spreader is a game changer on the fly like it is on the awning, it’s also a bit fiddley to put in and tension so maybe see how you like the standard set up before spending more on the pole.
