I paired the Hue Motion Sensor with a Hue Outdoor Lightstrip that I mounted under my bathroom sink to create a hidden nightlight that only turned on when needed, and it has been a delightful experience. The motion sensor has a magnetic base that you can screw in or simply stick on a magnetic surface (as I have) and the sensor itself attaches to the base magnetically so you can position it any way you need. You can adjust the motion sensitivity in the Hue app, and of course you can have the sensor activate different scenes depending on the time of day as well.You can even add the motion sensor to Apple Home you have accessories outside of Hue that you want to use it with, but I've gone all-in on Hue so I can't speak to its usefulness as a HomeKit accessory.

The magmatic bracket can be attached at many different angles to the back of the sensor, not just "straight on", so you can point the sensor up, down, left, right and everything in between.The data appears in both my Hue app and my Apple Home app. I have configured it to trigger a light scene between certain times when it detects motion. The sensitivity to both daylight and motion is adjustable from the Hue app. Excellent product at a reasonable price.

Definitely worth the investment. I started using Hue bulbs about four years ago and have slowly added to the collection. Now I have over 30 items connected to the bridge. The motion sensors are worth their weight in gold. The dimmer switch too.My electric bill went down by $11/month when I installed motion sensors in the basement. I use these in place of nightlight in my house. I've set them up in two different rooms where they can detect motion down either a hallway or through multiple rooms.Coupled with a timer function in the Philip's Hue app, they turn on when they detect motion, and then turn off automatically a few minutes later.However, I also have one setup as a dawn/dusk sensor so that it turns on a light in the evening while ignoring the motion detection settings. After a certain time, it switches the light off, and then switches over to the motion detection mode.

It does its basic function: turn on the lights when it perceives a movement.However, it can get annoying quite fast. What it does not do and should be doing?- turn on the light when there is movement AND there is not enough light. (It should not turn on the light in the middle of the day)- have a simple way to disable it, via one of the buttons of the dimmer switch.I do know there are non-Philips apps that can program it to do that, but Philips should fix their app.
It took me a few tries to get this configured how I want it (using different settings for daytime and nighttime), but once I got used to the available options and created scenes to use as presets for the different times of day, it has been working great. After 11pm I have it set to use a dim scene to act as a hallway nightlight, but the rest of the time it is full brightness. But there is also a slider to adjust so it won't turn on if there is already enough natural light during the daytime. My only complaint is the price - although all Hue products have a premium price - and for motion sensors when this is on sale it is comparable in price to much lower quality non-Hue motion sensors.
