I have a ring video doorbell and a ring camera in my backyard. My backyard camera is far from my WiFi router and it was having connection issues and bad video quality because of the bad WiFi connection. I purchased this chime WiFi extender and now I have no connection issues with my backyard ring camera. I always have my phone on silent/vibrate so I love that the chime goes off when either camera goes off and I can hear it from anywhere in my house. It adds to the feeling of security for me. There has been times where I’m asleep at night and my ring doorbell catches someone walking in front of my house after midnight so the chime goes off and wakes me up. Since my phone is always on silent I don’t get the alert but the chime alerts me so that’s great.

Helps w range of wifi. Definitely helps and worth the purchase. My modem is upstairs and downstairs area can be difficult to get good reception. This was needed to improve strength and helped. Still have some dead zones with a third camera that has wifi device in garage. Probably would of eliminated this but overall ok.

I have to be honest, I was sceptical about this, having read some reviews. I found this did not happen automatically when linking the chime to my WiFi. Might be obvious to some, but I thought it was worth a mention. Overall, yes, I would recommend!

Didnt do what it said it would

I bought this to provide another chime to an area in the house where we couldnt always hear the doorbell chime that was included in the doorbell itself but also to boost the signal to our garden ring floodlight camera. I had connection issues with the floodlight cam so was already using a Wi-fi booster to get signal. When I saw this chime and booster combo I thought this would be the ideal neat solution to hearing the doorbell throughout the house and boosting the routers signal to the floodlight. Set up took two attempts but was quite easy and the chime feature works perfectly. The signal strength the floodlight cam has with the chime pro is actually less than it was when using a general Wi-fi booster. The chime pro is situated less than four meters away from the floodlight cam and only has to get through one wall so I am a little disappointed with it. I was planning to get a couple more of these and place them around the house to have good coverage for all my ring devices but after experiencing its performance I will save myself some money and just use general Wi-fi signal boosters around the house. Unfortunately Id have been better off getting another standard chime and using the booster I already had. Great idea but, in my experience, didnt solve the problem I was hopingit would

Does it's job

I thought I made a poor purchase at first. The RSSI levels on my device was very low. It showed lower that the cameras connected to my regular wifi. Those cameras indicated poor internet connection and I was having connection issues. Seeing that the chime until was showing good health and connection it was still at a much lower RSSI level. I kept running the cams on my regular internet connection and still had issues. So I finally and reluctantly I might add I connect the cams to the chime units network. This requires reprogramming any unit you want to connect to the ring unit so a ladder was needed. Now all the cameras show a low RSSI but the app shows a good internet connection and they have been having no issues now that they are connected to the chime unit.

The doorbell & chimes work well and the video looks good when it's not stuttering along when viewed. Now the downsides. The biggest issue is that the makers of this product expect you to sign up for their subscription-based video service. Basically, you can't watch your video recordings unless you sign up for their pay per month plan. Basically, it's a con. There is no justification for this, it's all about the company having a steady revenue source for future income into their own pockets. There is no reason why videos can't be recorded & stored locally. All they are providing is a cloud-based service with no other option to view your video recordings. The last point is that there's a delay in when you are alerted when the camera detects motion. I'm alerted approx. 1-2 minutes after the camera has detected motion. By that time the person has gone out of view so I never see who has triggered the sensor in the doorbell.

Good Points: NoneImprovement Points: This was purchased because the reach of my upstairs router did not extend to the front door, a necessity with the Ring bell. Despite negative reports elsewhere, I purchased this Wi-Fi extender which made no difference at all. The product was returned. I was contacted by Ring Customer Services asking if they could help me. I answered their email THREE times but have heard nothing since. Total silence. What should be a great product has been an expensive let-down. Buy this extender at your peril.

Isn't this thing supposed to make the connection from my wifi to the doorbell stronger? Then why can't it detect a network the doorbell can detect? Stupid piece of crap. I would return it if I didn't buy it secondhand on Ebay. Junk.

Worse than just router alone
17 February 2019

I bought it as the Spotlight Cam located in front of my garage has 2 rooms between the Cam and the router. A small laundry room, and the garage itself. I sometimes got OK signal from that cam from my router, and sometimes it was a poor signal. I bought it and tried several locations for the Ring Chime Pro. I even put it outside in the garage itself and the signal actually got worse !! WTF. That was only 20 ft from the Camera itself, and maybe 15 ft from the router. Moved it to 3 locations. None of them were better than just the router itself. I'm done with it. Returning it as I find no value in it whatsoever. going to try a name brand WIFI extender to see if it works. I tried. Very frustrating.

It foes not work. The plugs connectors panel came broke. Unfortunately, I did not discover this until too late since I trusted that Walmart sells goid products. It doesn't even have the right coding so I can initialize it with the Ring door ball.
