I've been using the Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus for several months now, and I have to say, I'm impressed with what it can do. It's a smart doorbell that comes with a built-in camera and microphone, which makes it easy to monitor who's at your door. One of the best things about the Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus is that it's very easy to set up and use. You just need to install the device and download the Ring app on your smartphone, and you're ready to go. The app makes it easy to customize your settings and manage your device. The camera on the Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus is very high quality and provides a clear view of who's at your door. Another great feature of the Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus is that it comes with two-way talk, which means that you can communicate with whoever is at your door from your smartphone. This is a great feature if you want to talk to delivery drivers or tell solicitors that you're not interested. One thing to keep in mind is that the Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus requires a subscription to get the most out of its features, such as video recording and cloud storage. This can be a downside for some users who don't want to pay for a subscription. Overall, I think the Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus is a great device for anyone who wants to monitor their front door and keep their property safe. It's easy to use, has a great camera, and comes with advanced features like motion detection and two-way talk. However, the subscription cost may be a downside for some users.

It has a doorbell which rings on your phone. There's a speaker that allows you to hear everything outside and also to talk to someone. It has a cloud storage option that saves all your videos and it's only $3/month. That's the only time we run in to problems. It always has an issue reconnecting to the wifi. It takes several hours to charge, sometimes overnight, and we usually have to restart the wifi in order for the Ring to find it and connect. It's a minor pain in the butt, but well worth it. You can buy a kit that hardwires your Ring, like a regular doorbell, so you don't have to worry about charging ever 3 to 4 days. We don't have a doorbell so we would have to wire an entire setup and I'm just not ready to do that at this point. It's a great product and I highly recommend it!!

Battery died after 2 weeks of installing it
24 February 2023

I followed all the guidelines on how to preserve battery life on this thing in the settings and one cold day came along and without any notifications, I notice in the app it shows that my battery was critically low. Keep in mind that I had the doorbell HARDWIRED to my existing doorbell so what this means is I have to detach the wires from the unit each time I need to charge the battery because it does not have a rechargeable battery. It is stressed in their instructions not to touch the wires by yourself and to hire an electrician if you're not sure what you're doing which I don't do I hired an electrician to install it but 2 weeks later it dies and now I have to deal with the wires anyways so that was a waste of money. I contacted Ring via chat to ask them if there was a way to remove the battery without having to disconnect the wires and they just sent me links to YouTube videos, not made by Ring but of some random guy with screaming kids in the background of his video instructing you how to remove the battery from a completely different device that was not even hardwired. I ended up having to call Ring and was told that the only other way I could charge the doorbell without dealing with wires was to remove the 6 tiny screws from the back of the unit. I haven't tried it yet, it's -30 outside so I'll wait for it to warm up but at this point I'm without a doorbell and apparently will be every time it gets cold, which in Alberta, is 10 months out of the year! I would return this in a heartbeat if my 30 day return window didn't end a week ago! Complete waste of money!!

Cold sensitive, WiFi issues
20 February 2023

When it works it’s great. We had it for two years. It was very sensitive to cold weather (anything under 40 degrees according to the app) and that drains the battery fast or causes it to stop working. We were unable to see our front door or have chimes go off when someone was at the door for days at a time in winter and around the holidays when expecting packages. Not ideal when traveling to have it be out and nothing you can do. WiFi range was fine, but my last straw was a recent incident of having our doorbell go offline and then not reconnect to WiFi. This resulted in a call to customer service where they told us everything was fine with the doorbell but we needed to take special characters out of our WiFi password to get it to connect again - apparently not an issue on the “newer model.” Why this would happen after two years of working remains a mystery but felt like an attempt to get us to buy a newer product. I was not going to update the WiFi password on every other device in our home to make this work when I was already underwhelmed by the cold sensitive short battery life, and poor customer service. Disconnected and canceled my plan, and they did refund me the difference for the remainder of the year on the plan. Will be trying another doorbell option.

Our First Smart Doorbell - Sensitive, Privacy ConcernsWe really like our Ring doorbell. The golden brown, brushed metal look matches perfectly with our exterior house paint and fixtures. It was a little more expensive compared to the Black Friday price ($69.99 versus $60) but we got free shipping - and it was delivered in 3 days so that was awesome. It also has a battery and that worked well when we had a power outage recently. I just happened to replace the doorbell with a 16 VAC, 100 VA transformer and that was a good call because I think this model of doorbell requires 40 VA minimum (I think the transformer we had was something like 16 VA). We had thin moulding around our cheap door so we had to add a wider (2.25) wooden backer first, and we added a few washers ... MoreOur First Smart Doorbell - Sensitive, Privacy ConcernsWe really like our Ring doorbell. Not that crazy about the app as it requires your address and personal info to set up a Ring account, which is concerning especially in this day and age. At least one setting (output volume of the Ring, like when you talk to a person at the door) is a little confusing to get to but not bad. The volume and video quality is great (you need to use the Ring app to set up the doorbell first and utilise the wimpy USB cable to connect to it directly). Overall, very satisifed and would recommend. Very happy with B&H with the pricing, delivery and overall website, too. Will be shopping here in the future for sure

Let start with the pros: great unit, does what it suppose to do and as well the ring lights up for usage. Under the camera you have two Red led that turns on for night vision in which does not interfere with the unit at all. The ring does turn White at night for visibility to ring the door bell, blue when live view is active. On the back it does have two screen terminals for hardwiring, simply hook the wires for continuous power. Installation is a breeze if you have the right tools depending on the material you are drilling 1/4" drill bit will be required and a level if you are mounting the unit. Before usage you will need to charge it fully specially if you are hardwiring the unit. When the doorbell is pressed, your phone will vibrate if put on silence or will ring on your phone if you have the volume on.Cons: I presume depending on your internet connection there is a delay on the notification when someone is at your door by a few seconds. If you have an existing chime at your home your will need an upgrade in order to make it function. I have a father with hearing problems so this knocked off a star. If you plan on upgrading your existing chime you can google the compable hard wired chimes. This adds on to labor and as well expenses. When you get the alert there it takes about 2 or 3 second to load into a clear video, it does load a bit pixelated before it becomes clear.

So great! Going to buy one for my daughter.

This video doorbell is great! The video is extremely clear and adds a reassuring next level of personal security and the sound quality is great also. I decided to buy this for a few reasons and have not been disappointed. Firstly, as the high street has changed so much and delivery of products has become more and more the norm, I thought it would be useful when I couldn't be in. Secondly I have found through the summer that while waiting for a delivery I had jobs to do in the garden but couldn't hear the doorbell while outside. As this product links to your mobile phone I could just have that with me and never miss the door again! Another issue I have been having is cold callers. The other day while I was out, three came to my door which I caught on video. Later that evening when I was home and just sat down for dinner, they came to the door again. I checked on the camera and could see it was the same people so just didn't bother to go to the door and carried on with dinner 😊 installation was easy, just needed to drill 4 holes and attach to the wall. I've had it installed for a month so far and the battery is still at 80% which would suggest it just needs charging maybe every 4 months to be safe but this is easily monitored on the app. A spare battery pack can be bought to have ready to just swap out which I might do. So good I may buy one for my daughter for Christmas.
