A great expansion for Scythe, I like both of the new factions - they lack some of the same type of movement abilities of the other factions but make up for this with more specialized actions over all. Especially nice is their shared ability to lay flags/traps and use these as instantaneous waypoints. The mini & pieces for the Albion Faction (Scotland) look great and are very detailed, likewise bits for Tokogawa (Japan) looks decent too but I am not a fan of the style for some reason (I guess their parts look a bit bulky to me). Fits right inside the original game box.

I am a new Scythe player and had never really played a game like it before. I love board games though and it looked so fun. It really is! I am hooked and all the friends I have played it with now love it. So I ended up getting this expansion and it adds a new layer to the game and I really like the 2 new factions. I was a little worried about the pieces being damaged or the boards being bent, for some games I wouldn't care too much but this game is so tied up in it's unique, beautiful look that I want all the pieces to look great and well-made. None of the boards were bent or damaged and the pieces were in fantastic condition. Invaders from Afar will give you the green and purple factions, along with two new work mats (Innovative and Militant). We can't stop playing this game; so, obviously, we had to get this expansion! So glad we did! It expands the game from a 5-player game to a 7-player game. Scythe has become my new favorite game! So many hours of entertainment for the price!
There's not much to be said about the expansions for Scythe except that if you enjoy Scythe, and the games are feeling a bit repetitive, get the expansions. They help revitalize the fun in the game. Invaders felt like stepping up to a whole new level in the game with additional players. Just make sure you have the table space!
Got bought Scythe for Christmas and adored it (played approx 7 games in a sitting) so bought this. Interesting new mechanics from the 2 new factions, but definitely harder to play. Best for if you're playing with a number of other people. Good value for money!
Scythe: Invaders from Afar adds two new factions to the base game. Each new faction has a significantly different flavor compared to the base game factions. Their unique abilities allow them for more powerful territory management abilities via traps and flags. The depth added to the game by these tokens ratchets up tension. Watch Albion grinding and then dropping a flag on the factory is pure exhilaration. I must agree with other reviewers though that a few antennae on the green mechs are fragile and broke. It doesn't diminish the expansion though.
We played this game several times with a group of 10 friends over the weekend. The expansion was awesome and well worth the money. Loved the variety of ways people played the game and how quickly 9 new players were able to catch on. This expansion adds even more depth to an all ready very strategic and fun game. The new addition didn't seem awkward or game breaking.
Great expansion with 2 additional factions for Scythe. These can be used in normal play but it also opens the player count up for 6-7 players. The new factions are well thought out and the expansion comes with two pieces to help adapt a couple of abilities (1 mech, 1 character) so that game play will still be fair in a 6-7 player game which I really appreciate. These two factions are more complex and you should probably be familiar with Scythe before you try and play with them. I love that this helps add variety to the original game. Great, well thought out expansion with high quality components like the base game.
