This product is fantastic! I've used it a few times and it fits well with my Sea to Summit sleeping pad. The material is light yet durable. Makes getting to camp while backpacking a treat!

I have had one of these for a number of years and it's great; it's so light that I don't hesitate to bring it even when I'm trying to go light; especially for packraft trips when my load is bigger I like the ability to fully rest my back at the end of a day instead of trying to do the same on rocks, stumps, etc. V1 had some durability issues that I was able to patch with some hand sewing and shoe goo, but StS shored up those areas a bit so I anticipate that it'll last longer. Seems to me by far the best chair/pad combo on the market.

I am attempting to be an UL backpacker- so I gave up my camp chair- (I sit in my bear canister) but man I love to read in my tent- trying to prop myself up on my backpack etc kinda sucks- so I bought this- thinking “I’m sure this won’t work…” but as per usual I was wrong!!! This thing is amazing - if you wanna have a comfy place to sit up and hang out (& it’s lighter than any other brand!

The video showed straps at both the top and bottom, and also the middle. Only the middle and one of the other straps are present, and not the third one. This makes it very difficult to assemble the chair using my sleeping mat. The mat is slippery, and getting it all put together is like getting a cat into a box. If I work on one end, then the other end gets loose.
Very comfortable, easy to use and very lightweight…for a backcountry chair. Not everyone needs or wants a chair in the back country, but if you do and are willing to pack the extra weight, it’s hard to find one lighter or more comfortable. Moreover, sooooo many lightweight chairs…the ones with aluminum framework, put you in a somewhat reclining position, which is not necessarily conducive to playing an instrument, or even eating, sometimes. Also, when I wear pants or shorts, or even a skirt with even slightly slippery fabric, I find some of these chairs want to spit me out. This chair is totally adjustable in it’s upright/reclining position, which I appreciate, since I don’t always want the same position. This design easily slips into a vertical space or almost ... This chair is totally adjustable in it’s upright/reclining position, which I appreciate, since I don’t always want the same position. This design easily slips into a vertical space or almost nothing, though it does have weight. I’m old. I DO want a chair in the back country and this is more comfortable and at least half the weight of any other option. There is concern for the health of your mat, of course and I was conscious of choosing where I put it on the ground to avoid very sharp objects/areas, but it did seem durable enough. Great purchase. Appreciate Sea to Summit products, but their customer service is excellent in my experience.
I've had the air chair for maybe a year now and while I love the comfort it provides when it's working right, it's just too fragile. First the buckles started coming undone on their own, I handled this while on a multiday trip by just tying together the straps. Problem solved for a few trips. On my most recent trip the entire chair disintegrated. All the seams holding the poles in came broke and it turned into a useless floppy pile of fabric and poles. At 6' and 210lbs I'm not exactly a small guy but I do think the chair should be able to hold up to me relaxing in it at the end of the day. What's the point of lugging in a chair if you can't even lean back in it?
I am leaving this review under 5 stars because that's the only way it'll get posted to the sea to summit site. If it's not five stars they won't show it.I love the design of this chair but it is lacking durability. The first time using it the buckles kept coming undone while I was sitting in it. I solved this by just tying together the straps. This worked for about one season before the seams holding the poles into the seat let go and the seat became totally useless. At 6' and 220lbs I'm not exactly small but what's the point of bringing a chair with you if you can't even rest your back against it?
This is a fantastic product. Well built and comfortable. I trek along the beaches, so every gram makes a difference This has shaved 250 grams off my last padded seat.. Can be used with out the blow up matts if you need to stop and rest the back for 10 minutes. I have the Sea to Summit ultra lite regular hiking matt plus the Mountain designs Airlite 6 matt and they both fit. If you need to get off the ground a bit more the airlite 6 works a treat!
Love it, great to relax and my partner is ordering one too. It's larger than I expected, but fair enough as it needs to fit the mat, and isn't heavy nor does it take up much room. Before I bought it I really wanted to know if it could work in a pinch without having to put the sleeping mat in. The answer is yes and no - the mat gives it the structure it needs to be comfortable, both for your bum on the ground and for the edges not to rub into your back/shoulders. However if I were exhausted at the end of a day and didn't feel like messing with the mat, the chair would still provide the back relief/reclining position. It just sort of squeezes you in since you don't have the mat as structural support. Overall great product. Amazing luxury for the outdoors.
going on a month long bike packing trip. got this as an alternative to the zero gravity chair which i cant use on rainy nights in the tent. i read mediocre reviews on this talking about durability. literally the moment i leaned back in it out of the package the buckle popped. dissapointed in this quality as i've become obsessed with sea to summit gear. i'll repair the chair and take my chances but bummed
