As great as Sigma lenses are, the biggest disapointment has been this lens hood. This tiny screw keeps this heavy lens hood attached to the lens body. It's been 2 replacements of the screws, and now I bought a new lens hood with assembly, because the screw broke. My advice? Be ready to buy a new hood or assembly at least once a year. The hood is fine. The attachment mechanism is terrible. The small screw esily breaks leaving the hood useless. The repair kit is inexpensive but NOT AVAILABLE. It is a shame that such a fine lens has a flawed hood attachment. What is even more shameful is the SIGMA does not readily make the repair kit available in quantity.

Fastening Screw came loose and can't get the hood to mount properly.
Bought a brand new Sigma 150-600mm sport lens and you get a lens hood that is held on to the lens body by one single screw that must attach to something on the inside, but I wouldn't know because nothing else but the screw is screwed on, and obviously will not tighten around the lens. Naturally a call to Sigma on a Sunday you get nothing. I looked online for the cost of the hood and B&H has it for $$ dollars. I'm sure I will get a new screw, or hood or something. Problem is I shouldn't have to Now the lens sits until I get some resolution. First time buyer, and maybe last.
Had this lens now for 10 days, I went to attach the hood on the lens after the lens was securely on the tripod. As I slowly tightened the lens-hood, something dropped. Since I was standing in sand, I never found the inside "brake" that creates the friction as you tighten down the screw. After paying this much, never should happen. Help!
Seeing that the unit that secures the hood to the lens has been shown to be a problem, there should be a repair kit available instead of having to get a whole new hood.
For the life of me I couldn't understand how and why the screw on the lens hood broke, but it did and the hood cannot stay on my lens. I am hoping a call to the company will fix this problem.
The original that came with the lens worked well keeping light from the lens I would never use the lens without a hood. I didnt tighten the screw and the lens hood fell into the ocean, cant blame this on the lens hood. I gave it 4 stars because the price was a little steep.
