Also, the loops hang out over the fabric edges once sewn. I've noticed this happens after sewing thick pieces of material, and going back to two pieces of cotton makes it hang out over the edges. Rethreading the machine (the horror described above) is the only way to fix it, until the next thicker layers are sewn. I've never ever considered buying another brand until now. I would never in a million years consider recommending this machine to anyone. All the local places that service sewing machines charge a lot more for Singers, and also give you a lectures about buying one. I guess this is why.

I have had my machine for about 11 months. It's my first ever Serger, and have really enjoyed using it. However, just a couple weeks ago, I was working on a Christmas project and the left needle stopped picking up the looper threads. I took it in to be looked at (there are no official repair shops in Colorado). The tech said is was a timing issue and that he wouldn't be able to repair it for less than a new machine. I have looked and this is apparently not covered by the warranty. Needless to say, I'm very disappointed. Not sure I'll be buying another Singer.

I have to say the manual was pretty intimidating and large, I am so glad that Singer has instructional videos online to help first time users like myself. I haven't quite gotten the hang of it. Threading the machine is no easy task yet, but I'm confident with practice and more experience I'll be able able make the fleece blankets I want for my family this Christmas. I do like that the machine is more compact and lighter than I had assumed it would be. It's easy for me to move and I can use it almost anywhere and be comfortable.

I love my Singer Heavy Duty Serger. It has two to four thread capability and provides a variety of different stitches. Threading is fairly easy as it comes with a color coded diagram right on the machine. The stitch length and width can be adjusted and it has a feature for free arm sewing that makes it easier sewing sleeves, legs, cuffs, etc. It has a built-in cutter that can trim excess. Accessories included are needle set, spreader, small screwdriver, spare lower knife, lint brush, and my 2 favorites which are the tweezers (makes needle eye threading easy) and scrap bag that collects excess trimmings. Overall, this machine is wonderful.

[Rewarded Review] Great serger!

I got the Singer heavy duty serger about a month ago and so far, I am loving it. I am new to using a serger but found it to be very easy to use. The coloring coding on the machine made it very easy to thread. After reading the manual and watching a few how-to videos, I found the serger very easy to use. I tried several different types of fabrics and found this machine could handle all of them with ease. I really like that it works great with thicker fabrics as I was needing to hem some jeans. It did take some getting used to the speed of the serger but I kind of like that now. My only con about the serger is I wish it was a little quieter but it's not a deal breaker. I will definitely recommend this to family and friends. I also look forward to learning more about ... MoreI got the Singer heavy duty serger about a month ago and so far, I am loving it. [Rewarded Review] Little Intimidating at First

This is the first time I've used a serger, and the large instruction manual gave me a little stress at first. If you promise not to report me to the mythical "Man Club" I'll let you know that I actually read the manual prior to using the machine (only 51 pages of instructions per included language, so not that much to read), and most of it is devoted to threading the machine. After reading that I learned that the machine comes pre-loaded with color-coded threads so that the user can tie on the thread of the spools and threading is easy! How thoughtful of Singer. The machine also comes with a threading diagram under the looper cover. My regular sewing machine could never handle the heavier fabrics like this serger can. If I decide to use it for lighter-weight fabrics, then I might find the machine intimidating as I try to figure out the thread tension settings.

[Rewarded Review] Must have Serger!
22 February 2023

This serger does such a professional job. No matter how thin or thick the material, the stitches look professional. This machine is easy to set up and use. Has an amazing color chart to show where the thread goes. So threading couldn't be simpler. Has a free arm and a very high powered motor that let's me zip right thru my projects. The lighting is amazing. I never have shadows on my projects. Once in a while I take my serger to a craft show so I can work during the downtime. The handle makes it so easy! No matter what kind of material I'm using, this serger can handle it with ease! Absolutely love it!

I must say this is my first time trying a Serger sewing machine. That being said I was very intimidated with all the threads and the instruction manual. But once I decided to put my anxiety aside, I read through the manual which in my language only had 50 pages. I found it very informative and easy to understand. It came pre threaded so to speak meaning you can tie into the thread and keep on sewing. The threading system is also color coded which is very helpful. It has great lighting which is a plus. I also like the free arm that allows for easy repairs on things like cuffs or sleeves. I have not used this machine much but enough to know I will be happy with it. [Rewarded Review] So helpful but does take time to get used to...

So I've had this for a few weeks and overall, I'm so happy with thus Serger. It's truly what I was looking for and I'm so grateful to have it at the house now. My husband makes camping gear, sleeping bags, etc and this has been amazing for him to use. I've been wanting to learn how to do more in depth sewing & he's been showing me alot. We have BOTH learned alot about this machine & how to make everything so much more polished & saving us from the headaches of unfinished or hand sewn pieces. My sister in law has one of these but it has the self threading feature and she loves it as well. She uses hers alot more than we have & has said that once you've used it for a while, it really does the work for you w/o messing up a regular machine by overloading it.It has all ... MoreSo I've had this for a few weeks and overall, I'm so happy with thus Serger. She uses hers alot more than we have & has said that once you've used it for a while, it really does the work for you w/o messing up a regular machine by overloading it.It has all you need in a serger, isn't too big and bulky & does everything we would need from a heavy duty machine. It isn't self threading as I mentioned. For me, this is kinda frustrating & I don't know why they would make a whole other machine that self threads but didnt do so with this one. But, with time I've heard it gets easier. If you're looking to get one of these but don't know how to begin using it, def head to You Tube and the Singer website for tons of super helpful information. It can use 4 threads which is the most we will need, it is etter for our needs than our other machine & the seams look amazing!! My main reason for not being a 5 star machine is the self threading, but again I am sure once I've made a few more things, this will get easier. Definitely worth the price and it has the Singer name behind it, making it stellar choice for us.There's so many details involved in the sewing process as a whole, but for great finishes on your garments, blankets and more thick, heavy items this is an amazing choice.

I did not think I needed a serger. A plain sewing machine is very adaptable but oh lort was I wrong. While this is a very heavy duty serger and works on very heavy fabrics and it's cutting ability is far more than you would really NEED for a regular sewing project you NEED one. It makes sewing so much easier and faster. Honestly fewer steps. Now I'm a novice obviously so it took me some real time to get it all set up but Singer is a great brand and instructions were easy to follow and if I had issues I found help online a couple times. This is not to say it's hard to do it's just best to follow instructions when you're new to it. Using it was a learning curve as well as it IS meant for sturdier fabrics than I was using at the time. Description Singer 14SH754 - 2-Needle and 4-threads Overlock Machine Sew seams, seam finishes and trim excess seam allowances all in one step with professional results. The Finishing Touch serger saves you time because it sews a seam and seam finish at the same time while trimming away the excess seam allowance. Seams and seam finish just like you see on store-bought garments are possible thanks to the serger. You can use 3 threads or 4 threads for a variety of stitch combinations. Sew those narrow little hems on napkins with the built-in rolled hem. Use the 4-thread stitch to sew a T-shirt with seams that stretch without popping. Sew a professional seam finish on seam allowances with the 3-thread stitch. Differential Feed allows you to sew super stretchy fabrics without the wavy distortion and sheers without puckering. The Built-in Free Arm makes it possible to sew around small sleeves and cuffs - great for children's clothing and more. You'll love the professional results your serger gives your projects.
