You can go for all out bass on these, and it’s deep and punchy and does give a shaking effect, Also it focuses on the Mids and Highs with clear audio separation and allows you to hear each instruments and vocals with the best in class clarity and High Resolution Audio! These also support LDAC, Higher quality then AptX-Hd and AptX for a bitrate upto 990kbps!The build quality is premium, having a soft touch material that looks and feels pristine and gives an overall sense of Satisfaction! with no creaking noises at all even when applying some pressure! The Padding and cushioning on the headband and earcups is probably the best that i have seen, You can literally wear these for an entire day for office work or for listening as they don’t hurt your ears even after prolonged usage! The Noise cancellation is ranked #1 on these and I definitely agree! These cancel out fans, A/C , Vehicle , Television noises etc remarkably and 70-80% lowering of human voices! Just put on some music even at 20-30% volume and you wouldn’t hear nothing! No distractions at All!Pairing with all these, A 30+ hour battery life that is absolutely impressive and can last an entire month for a person listening to just music for 1 hour a day! After looking at all these points , these are definitely Worth it and a total Bang for your Buck if you value your music alot! An overall 11/10 score as its more than a 10/10 and you’re getting the feel and features of all the major brands like Bose, Beats, Sennheiser etc. The Touch pads Also work flawlessly with a swipe up and down for raising and lowering volumes respectively, and a forward or a backward swipe to switch to next or previous track respectively, A double tap for playing or pausing music, And these are very sensitive to your touch! Just two buttons on the left earcup to power on the headphones and other button to switch between the Noise cancellation and Ambient mode On or off. Cover the right Earcup with your hand and in less than a second, it lowers your music and stop noise cancellation so you can have a conversation without removing your headphones! In the Box , you get a high quality Hard carrying case with A Soft interior for maintaining the looks of these Headphones! Also you get a 3.5mm to 3.5mm audio cable, An airplane adaptor and a Type C cable for charging! You Also get a 3 month Local warranty from Sony Pakistan if you come across any mechanical issue with these! So All in all these are the Absolutely Remarkable Headphones! Highly Recommended! It’s really all the hard work and effort of AllMyTech’s team that value their customers and manage to bring you all the Authentic products at an even impressive price compared to other competitors and paired with the unbeatable delivery times, They are the best people to shop with If you need to satisfy your Technological Needs! It has been a Pleasure shopping with you guys! Keep it up!

I purchased these just when my old Bose QuietComfort on ear headphones had one of the ear pads fall off after 3 years of use and I was not a happy camper about it. So to say that the timing of these being introduced was perfect is an understatement so let's get on with a bit of a review.... Another thing that I'm really happy about is that I can plug these into the TV through the 3. 5 mm cord with an extender and there is no sound delay listening to the TV but I have not yet tried Bluetooth connecting it with the other sound mode yet. Hand touch features The hand touch features on the ear outside of the ear pads is nothing less than brilliant and I prefer the motion touch ability to increase or lower the volume change tracks Etc by simply using my hand motion as opposed to a hard Hardware button. Took me about 5 minutes to get used to it but it was pretty intuitive and pretty easy to pick up. They don't have to rest on the top of your head: one thing that you won't see in any of the reviews except this one probably is that every pair of headphones I tried on at Best Buy and other places the top of the headphones almost always rested on my head. This was one department where Bose was a leader for me because I was able to increase the size of the headphones and have the headphones stay on my ears and stay on my head without the top actually resting on the top of my head and these Sony headphones have managed to achieve that and I give him credit for it. Having a pair of headphones partially supported with its weight on your head is not good for comfort factor so the fact that these can be expanded still stay on your ear and not be resting on top of your head for me is a big deal and adds to the overall comfort factor. my older Bose on ear headphones or more compact but that's to be expected compared to an over-the-ear Headphone set and although these are bulkier they are still quite portable. The carrying case The case that came with it is beautiful it's a hard shell case with a textured finish an open net on the back where you can sleep in a charger or anything else that'll fit and also has storage for your headphones inside along with two more what I call vertical pockets for your charger cord or other peripherals. Headphone color choice: I was tossed up on whether to get the black or silver headphones and I'm pleased to say the black ones were the right choice black tennis shoe look smaller aesthetically speaking and the copper colored accents really at A Classy Touch to the design in my opinion. Speaking of designs these are as far as I can tell 100% if not close to 100% plastic but they feel very sturdy and the joints on the swivel for the ear pads are smooth in operation and don't feel like they're going to break very easily unless you find a way to sit on them one day :-) I'm not going to go into more detail than that because you can find millions of reviews online for these headphones and they will be going into much more detail than I am but I did want to point out a few things that you won't find in other reviews. These headphones are pricey there's no doubt about it but if she's got the bucks for it don't even blink an eye and order them they're superb

Excellent product! When deciding between these and the competition, choose Sony!!!

Purchased a pair of these at Best Buy because I didn't want to wait the two days, and I wanted to leave a review here. I consider myself a very detailed oriented/critical consumer, and always do a lot of research/try different products before I settle on one, especially when I'm paying $100 or more for said product. Ive owned a number of noise cancelling headphones, including the Beats Studio 3, Bose QC35ii, Sonys Wh1000xm2, and now these mark 3s. And man, they impress! Sound quality is excellent (a step up from Bose), very comfortable (not quite Boses comfort level, but honestly in my opinion, close enough that it makes no significant difference), and the touch controls are sweet! Sound quality is excellent (a step up from Bose), very comfortable (not quite Boses comfort level, but honestly in my opinion, close enough that it makes no significant difference), and the touch controls are sweet! I love the feature that allows you to disable the noise cancellation when you place your hand over the right ear cup. Allows you to interact with the world around you without having to repeatedly take off and then put back on your headphones. The rest of the touch controls are intuitive and responsive. The battery life is awesome. Love that it has USB-C and quick charges, ten minutes of charging equaling five hours of playtime is insane! Glad Sony is taking the step forward and future-proofing these cans with USB-C, a move Beats/Bose should make with their next versions of their products. The app is awesome, it really potentiates your music in a variety of ways. All in all, Sony hit a serious home run here. For a premium price you should get a premium product, and these absolutely feel like you got your moneys worth. The competitors offer small, specific advantages that you may find appealing, from Beats' W1 chip if youre in the Apple ecosystem (which I am) to slightly improved comfort/multipoint connection with Bose, but these truly are the best overall noise cancelling Bluetooth headphones available in 2019, in my opinion. Bose produced a great pair of headphones in the QC35ii, and it is still the king of comfort, in my opinion. I will say, however, that the Sonys are almost as comfortable as the Bose, in fact the first thing my sister noticed when I let her try them was how comfortable they were. The Bose sound signature was better than the Studio 3s, but sounded rather flat and lifeless compared to the immersive experience that you get with these Sonys. That isn't to say that they sound bad, because I don't think they sound bad at all. In fact, they deliver a balanced sound that is pleasing to listen to, however when compared to the Sonys, it's clear who the winner is. I would recommend these Sonys over Bose, but if you cannot comprise on only connecting to one device and need the absolute most comfortable headphones you can get, go with Bose. They're currently on sale in a variety of locations/websites for $300, which is still a good value in my opinion. The Beats Studio 3s are definitely an improvement to some past Beats' products, but don't confuse that with me saying that they're close to what Sony or Bose are doing. With all the hate Beats gets, the audio in the Studio 3s is not abysmal like some might make it out to be; it is, however, not at all a sound signature that belongs in a pair of headphones that's priced around $300, and you should take that into consideration before spending hard earned money on them. I love the way Beats look and work with my Apple devices, but they don't hold up to the competition at the end of the day. If you're thinking about Studio 3s as an alternative to Sony/Bose, you should absolutely check out Sennheiser's options before making that choice. Sennheiser's PXC 550 is a great pick right now, available at Best Buy and Amazon for less than the Sonys, with comparable sound quality and solid features, including touch controls. However, if appearance, brands, and W1 connectivity for all of your Apple devices is crucial, wait for a sale and pick up some Studio 3s. To the average consumer, I believe the sound quality to be adequate, although mostly suited for hip-hop/electronic music, and can make other genres sound muddled/flat. To recap, or to get to the point for people who dont want to read my drawn out review: 1. Sony 2. Bose 3. Sennheiser 4. Beats Of course there are other brands, Bowers and Wilkins, Microsofts new Surface headphones, and countless others, however I havent personally tried those headphones so I can only report on those Ive tried. Regarding the issue that some people have experienced with the microphone during phone calls: I have yet to experience this, I've been asking people if they can hear me properly throughout conversations I've had on these and nobody has yet to notice anything unusual about how my voice is picked up through the microphone. To be fair however, I've been calling in mostly quiet environments with minimal background noise, so I cannot speak to the efficacy of the microphone in louder settings.

Excellent all round design and sound

I purchased these just when my old Bose QuietComfort on ear headphones had one of the ear pads fall off after 3 years of use and I was not a happy camper about it. So to say that the timing of these being introduced was perfect is an understatement so let's get on with a bit of a review.... Sound There been lots of reviews online about these it's no secret that the noise cancellation feature is superb on these it's also no secret that the sound is also superb and I found it to be accurate and pleasing to the ear no matter if I've been listening to rock music, classical music come or reggae. Another thing that I'm really happy about is that I can plug these into the TV through the 3. 5 mm cord with an extender and there is no sound delay listening to the TV but I ... MoreI purchased these just when my old Bose QuietComfort on ear headphones had one of the ear pads fall off after 3 years of use and I was not a happy camper about it.

I love the feature that allows you to disable the noise cancellation when you place ... MorePurchased a pair of these at Best Buy because I didn't want to wait the two days, and I wanted to leave a review here.

Great for cancelling noise/help you to focus
1 January 2020

I did not know what to expect when I put these headphones for the first time and they connected via bluetooth... it was nothing short of amazing. I have the WH1000XM3's (black). It's as if you go straight into a sound chamber and outside noise is drastically reduced. I know you may be saying 'well of course.. that's what noise cancelling means!' However, knowing something and then experiencing it are two different things. To be honest, I think my mind is trying to figure these headphones out still... I get some ringing in my ears and I learned that that can be from the mind compensating for a perceived hearing loss. I think some part of my auditory perception is thinking there is something missing in these environments where I would normally hear a certain degree of ... MoreI did not know what to expect when I put these headphones for the first time and they connected via bluetooth... it was nothing short of amazing. I think some part of my auditory perception is thinking there is something missing in these environments where I would normally hear a certain degree of noise! Again, I risk sounding obvious but you really have to try these to understand what i mean. I have a great workplace to test the efficacy of these headphones out: a coworker in the next cubicle who noisely eats/gulps/drinks/munches and crunches on food and snacks incessantly throughout the day (was driving me nucking futs) and right now we have an A/C issue in the office that requires us to have some kind of industrial swamp cooler contraption as a substitute and it sounds similar to that droning noise that can be heard during air travel from the engines. I know... but I gotta pay the bills! When I put on the WH1000XM3's, both of those noises are substantially reduced which is a godsend to me. Then I add in some low volume classical or dub techno and I am in my own little world! I can focus, relax.. well to the extent that that is possible at work... and the great feature of being able to cup my hand over the right ear cup is fantastic. It seems to not only cut out the noise cancelling so I can hear a legitimate request from my coworkers, but there seems to be a bit of enhancement.. maybe I am just imagining that though. I have also tested these out and about, walking and such...there are so many opportunities for me to experience noise pollution in the city I live in! I can say that I have finally been able to hear a very soft-spoken pod-caster for the first time without having to increase the volume whenever he spoke during his interviews on his podcasts. Even while walking by noisy traffic/people/construction ....and does anyone else notice the higher volume and pitch of ambulances and other emergency vehicles these days? Those noises were countered very effectively, although some bangs and loud noises seemed to make the noise cancellation compensate a bit too much, still I would rather not hear the offending noises and so the slight interruption to my listening experience during those brief moments is tolerable. They also adjust to less noisy environments too: in the early hours of the day, when its almost completely quiet in the environments I'm in at that time, the cancelling drops off and I can hear my car door closing behind me/alarms for forgetting to take the key with me/leaving the headlights on, etc. The battery life is also another pleasant surprise. I have doubted manufacturer's claims on battery life, but these really did hold up for close to 30 hours, I have to qualify this by saying that I mostly listen to low-volume classical/techno dub/e-courses/podcasts and the like. Comfort and wearability are quite high. I can stand to have these on for three to four hour stretches at a time and probably go longer if I am on a long flight and desperate to get some sleep. I did try a 45 minute nap with white noise playing and it worked wonderfully. I have tried wearing the headphones upside down, and they hold on just fine, especially helpful for keeping a lower profile at work, not so obviously 'tuning you jerks out.' In the heat of the day, out walking, the ear-cups can feel warm (70-80 degree temps) but not too bad. Ok, now the cons: there were a few glitchy moments with the swiping feature on the right ear-cup and one time where the volume control from the swiping did seem delayed or slow, however I must say that was when I was transitioning from sitting for an extended time at work and then going out for a walk on a break, no excuses, but it was not show stopper, it just took a minute or two for the headphones to 'figure it out.' There was also a moment where I was sure that I was swiping the volume down but the skip track forward feature triggered instead. Overall though, I would highly recommend these headphones, especially if you were like me and trying to listen to instructional videos/podcasts for any length of time and you need to focus better. I think they are far healthier for my hearing as well: the noise cancelling allows me to play background music at super low volume whereas the in-ear earbuds are just terrible (as I now realize in comparison).

Great headphones but app needs some improvement
1 January 2020

Let me start by saying, I also have the Bose QC35 IIs so I've been able to compare the two side-by-side. They're both great headphones and they each have their pros and cons but I would have to say that I prefer the Sonys and I would recommend the Sonys over the Bose but you can't go wrong either way. The Sony headphones are an excellent set of headphones. The feel and build quality of the headphones feel very premium. A lot of people online will say that the Bose are more comfortable than the Sonys but I prefer the feel of the sony more due to the extra bit of weight and better cupping the headphones has over the ear. Pairing the headphones is very simple and the battery life of the headphones are amazing (~25 hrs) especially when compared to that of the Bose (~15 hrs). When comparing the sound quality and noise cancellation the Sonys win hands down. The noise cancellation on the Sonys are excellent. I've tried them out on a few different flights and they completely block out any air place noise. While on an air plane, you're able to use the app to optimize the noise cancellation for different altitudes and pressure levels so that you're always able to block out the air plane noise and maximize sound quality. The touch controls on the Sonys work but take a bit of time to get use to and they feel a bit awkward to use so most of the time I just control everything manually with my phone because it's easier. The Sony app when it's working is excellent but there's times when it gets buggy and if the app is working, I would not update it. I updated the app once and the app would not work until they released another update which was really frustrating. I will warn you though that the headphones are very reliant on the app when compared to the Bose. The Sony headphones's noise cancellation and quality without the app is much worst than the Bose without the app. In that small period of time where my app was not working, the headphones were almost non-usable. But when the app is working, I would say the headphones are near perfect. You're able to adjust so much and customize your sound settings more so than the Bose and being able to optimize depending on atmospheric pressure has been a game changer. Pros of the Sony: 1. Great build quality 2. Long battery life 3. Better noise cancellation and sound quality than the Bose 4. Very comfortable over long periods of time 5. Variety of customizations via the Sony app Cons of the Sony: 1. The app is buggy 2. The headphones are too reliant on the app (If app is not working, headphones can't be used to their full potential) 3. This is more personal but I'm not a huge fan of the touch controls 4. Can't pair to multiple devices at a time unlike the Bose Overall thoughts: I think the Sonys are excellent pair of headphones and I would 100% recommend these over the Bose.

Great sound and awesome features!!!
1 January 2020

Ok first off, my first pair of newer over ear headphones were the Soul by Ludaris as I went to Bestbuy and listened to the Beats, Soul, soul Republic, Bose, etc etc, and picked the Soul by Ludacris because to my ears they sounded the best. (These were wired) My son had a pair of the over ear Beats which also sounded good but not as good as the Soul did (also wired) I was in an airport a few months back and bought the Bose QC35 II's, and they were very nice but didn't go as loud as I would have liked them too. I gave them to my wife and trusted CNET and other reviews stating Sony had outdone themselves on the Gen 3 of these headphones. I gave them to my wife and trusted CNET and other reviews stating Sony had outdone themselves on the Gen 3 of these headphones. First, I do not wear them everyday, I take them when I am traveling and randomly use them if I need to tune everything out to get work done. The noise canceling on these is amazing. My keyboard clicks very loudly and with these on I cannot hear it at all. They have 3 settings, noise canceling, ambient, and no ambient. The noise canceling is truly the best I have ever tried from the Soul's to the Beats to the QC35 II's. Handsdown amazing noise canceling. As for the ambient setting, it is nice as is slightly amplifies the ambient noise around you so you can hear without the headphone muffling the noise. And when they are in no ambient the software isn't running and they act like standard over ear headphones that would somewhat muffle sound. The features are quite cool. I read in someone's review that when outside in the cold the touch interface has issues, but I am not wearing them out in the cold so that is not something that would affect the performance for my usage. The right ear exterior is the touch interface with simple intuitive gestures to make it play, pause, volume up or down, skip tracks forward and backward, and my favorite feature hold your hand over the right ear and they recognize that you need to speak with someone and they switch from active noise canceling to the ambient boost setting so you can talk without shouting or taking them off. Quite ingenious when you think about it, especially if you use them frequently on planes. All in all, I own playstations (3 and 4) but have rather thought of Sony as an afterthought when it comes to high level electronics in today's market. However, these headphones earn their top choice editor's pick status hands down. I trust a lot of the reviews on CNET and other reputable tech sites, and can say that if you are looking for a great pair of bluetooth over ear noise canceling headphones, then look at these, as I think they are the best. I have an iPhone XS and they paired quickly and the Sony app allows you to actively adjust the sound without using the Apple EQ which is nice since a lot of the reviews state they are too bass heavy, a quick adjustment fixes that. They also come with a nice case very similar to the one my Bose QC35 II's came in, but seems slightly thinner, which is nice. I listen to a lot of different music from hip hop to punk rock and most things in between and they sound great with everything I have tried them with. I don't think you will go wrong with these if this is the type and style of headphone you are looking for.

Noise-canceling is good, but the Bose QC20's are actually better
1 January 2020

So I bought these from BestBuy, as well as Bose QC20's, with the purpose of testing both to research what is truly the best noise-canceling device. I tested both side by side over multiple days. I wore both for up to 8 hours at a time to see which was more comfortable. I also tested the noise-canceling in a variety of settings (at the store, next to a fan, near by people talking, AC unit, a recording of dog's barking). I have to say, the Bose QC20's have these beat still on noise-canceling. I also tried out the Bose QC30's and Bose QC35's and the QC20's still canceled the most noise, to my subjective senses, in the variety of settings. Also, since I am going for maximum noise-reduction/isolation/cancelation possible - I tried out two combinations: 1) 32NNR foam ... MoreSo I bought these from BestBuy, as well as Bose QC20's, with the purpose of testing both to research what is truly the best noise-canceling device. Also, since I am going for maximum noise-reduction/isolation/cancelation possible - I tried out two combinations: 1) 32NNR foam earplugs and Sony WH1000XM3s' noise-cancelation on top, over ears. 2). Bose QC20's in ear noise-cancelation and Peltor sound isolating ear muffs over ears. Overall, I could not tell a difference in how both combinations preformed in canceling out and reducing noise at the store, with an AC unit, fan, recording of barking dogs, people talking etc., there were definite pro's and con's to each combination. 1) 32NNR foam earplugs and Sony WH1000XM3s' noise-cancelation on top, over ears: Pro's: -Better comfort over long term wear. -Cordless and bluetooth Con's: -Ineffective if you are wanting to cancel outside noise *and* listen to something because the sound has to go through your earplugs. (I could still hear people talking and high pitched sounds when I tried to listen to music at the store with this combination.) -There was this weird thing where when I'd turn the Sony's on the noise-cancelation was very sub-par and I'd have to switch the ambient noise functions all the way through back to noise-canceling for it to seemingly work. This seems to be a finicky sort of thing about it. -Was disappointed, as have other reviewers been, that it's not very easy to switch between bluetooth connections with the Sony's. You have to manually switch on the device you're connecting to. 2). Bose QC20's in ear noise-cancelation and Peltor sound isolating ear muffs over ears. Pro's: -Actually performs significantly better in canceling outside noise and listening to something. (I literally could not hear any ambient noise when testing this out at the store and listening to music on low volume.) -Can workout and exercise with the QC20's, which makes them more versatile. Con's: -Has a cord and kind of awkwardly placed battery pack near the jack. (Though with a small bluetooth device, you could go cordless pretty easy.) -Less comfortable over time due to the greater pressure the earmuffs apply to the head. -The cord kind of breaks the seal on the earmuffs' isolation ever so slightly, and the muffs also pressure the cords into your side/upper jaw but it's not too noticeable. -The combination can create a bit of "popping" sound if you're moving your jaw at all because it shifts the earphones a bit because the cords are pressed on the side of your upper jaw. (This was the biggest downside I felt to this combination, though it does not occur at all if you are sitting still and the cord doesn't move at all.) Conclusion: I think I am only slightly in favor of the QC20's + earmuffs combination given that it has a clearly superior noise-canceling/reducing ability while you are listening to music. I think if I get a bluetooth device then the cord can be bypassed as well, which would be a must for me to choose it since I like being able to move around freely. Also, I am figuring that the "popping" sound can be tolerated or avoided as long as I mostly use them when I'm sitting (which I do anyway). The other factor to mitigate is the pressure of the earmuffs, but I am hopeful I can change that if I find the right earmuff set.

Phenomenal upgrade from wired headphones for SmartTV w/Bluetooth

After decades of using wired Sony MDR-V6 headphones as my go-to pair for watching TV at night when not wanting to disturb others, and upon realizing "wait a sec, my LG OLED TV supports bluetooth audio output?"I decided I wanted to treat myself to a Black Friday pair of these highly-rated Sony WH1000 XM3 headphones. Pros: - Very good noise cancellation - The ambient sound function is also pretty nice and works well; I especially like how you can activated it by the switch or by temporarily holding your hand over the right can's touch controls - Comfortable to wear for long periods of time - No noticeable audio lag between my TV and the sound in my ears - Nice being able to just sweep up or down on the right side ear-can to increase or decrease the volume - Excellent ... MoreAfter decades of using wired Sony MDR-V6 headphones as my go-to pair for watching TV at night when not wanting to disturb others, and upon realizing "wait a sec, my LG OLED TV supports bluetooth audio output?"I decided I wanted to treat myself to a Black Friday pair of these highly-rated Sony WH1000 XM3 headphones. Pros: - Very good noise cancellation - The ambient sound function is also pretty nice and works well; I especially like how you can activated it by the switch or by temporarily holding your hand over the right can's touch controls - Comfortable to wear for long periods of time - No noticeable audio lag between my TV and the sound in my ears - Nice being able to just sweep up or down on the right side ear-can to increase or decrease the volume - Excellent battery life and relatively fast charging - USB-C charging port, so no more "which side goes up" nonsense - You can plug audio into these headphones with a standard 1/8" cable, which is provided, although it's not very long - A 2-prong aircraft audio adapter is also provided - WIRELESS, baby! Neutral: - Sound almost but not quite up there with the MDR-V6s I've been used to, which to my ear have a warmer sound. - The standard 'pleather'-style pads are reasonably soft and comfortable, but do generate a little bit of heat after hours of listening - The case is pretty nice, but really only useful if you do a lot of traveling with these; for me, the headphones sit on a little stand I already owned, next to my TV watching recliner - A phone app (available on Google Play or Apple store) is needed to manage the headphone at the detailed level, although once you've set it to your liking, you don't necessarily need it very often - Have to learn not to accidentally touch the touch controls, especially when putting on or removing the headphones Cons: - Their provided USB-C charging cable is comically short. You will need a longer one. Trust me on this. Buy yourself a USB 3.0 standard-to-USB-C cable, unless you already have a spare. - You will also need a USB charger because they don't provide one. - I noticed one night that after I finished watching TV and disconnected bluetooth, the headphones reverted to a connection with my Android phone, which then caused both the headphones and phone to run their batteries down over the next 12-16 hours. Led to my surprise when the headphones the following night said they had no charge and shut down. Not sure if this is intentional behavior or not, but I've made sure not to let my phone reconnect by default since I got these headphones almost exclusively for the TV. - There technically *is* multi-pairing capability, but it's kind of clumsy and you have to manually disconnect/reconnect to switch between connected bluetooth devices. (I have not yet tried to connect simultaneously between the TV and the phone, but the instructions indicate it may be possible.) - I'd also say that there should be some other way to use Alexa or Google voice assistant services without having to override the sound canceling / ambient sound button's functions. Maybe there is, but the guides and manuals all say that in order to use voice assistant features, you have to give up that button. One thing I did do was to separately purchase a replacement set of suede ear pads from Dekoni Audio (available here on Amazon also). They were a tad pricey, and you do give up a little noise canceling isolation, but they're much more comfortable and weren't very difficult to install. Overall, I'm impressed with these headphones, and gaining both sound canceling and wireless capabilities have made me glad I bought them. It's nice no longer being tethered to the A/V receiver. Sound is good, battery life excellent, synchronization is pretty solid, and I've had no particular issues with bluetooth connectivity. Would buy again, but I do feel that Sony has some room for improvement on controls and UI. And it would be even better if I could truly connect to multiple devices at once, such as phone + TV at the same time, with full functionality.

Very good for the Money

All right. I figure it's about time to write up a review of these headphones, seeing as I've spent some decent time with them and the Christmas sales should be happening and some of you may be wondering if you should spring for these - OR - wait it out until the next model Mk IV eventually shows up. The most frequent question I get is "How long do these last with Noise Cancellation on?" With the ANC (active noise cancellation) function ON - I've seen about 22-24 hours or so of Bluetooth-connected operation with these. The noise cancellation operation / ambient sound mode of these headphones are run entirely by the internal charged battery. Someone asked me a while back if with the headphones connected to your phone via the headphone cable, if they would still have noise cancellation / ambient sound mode even if the battery was dead and the answer is no, no they will not. You can still listen to music through the 3.5 mm physical cable with a depleted battery, but noise cancellation will not be available. Actually, you also can't use Bluetooth / noise cancellation when even in the process of charging these headphones (see "gripes" towards end of review).. so I guess it's good Sony decided to bestow a quick-charge 5-hour use time after a 10-minute charge function into these (using a wall receptacle USB adapter of course). Basically how it works is if you have an energized battery in the headphones you can use the noise cancellation and the Bluetooth connection - which also serves to activate the right ear cup touch-pad to perform functions on the headset. If you have an energized battery and decide to use the direct 3.5mm headphone cable to connect to your phone or computer instead, you can still use the noise cancellation, but the touch-pad will not be available to utilize as the cord now takes over for Bluetooth to serve music (and as it depends upon the Bluetooth connection to "talk" to the paired device for functions, the touch-pad is disabled). If you have a depleted battery you cannot use noise cancellation or the touch-pad but you can still get sound out of them like a regular pair of headphones by using the 3.5mm cable plugged into your phone or computer. The connectivity through Bluetooth seems really robust. I have had only one minor issue since owning these where the sound of what I was listening to hiccupped out for a fraction of a second a couple times, but I think it had more to do with my phone not behaving at that moment and not the headphones themselves causing the problem. Walking around inside or outside or for traveling, the connection has remained stable since. How "Good" the active noise cancellation works in any pair of headphones is somewhat subjective... but I can say these work really well, bearing a few things in mind and that we've not quite reached the technological level yet of producing truly silent headphones the quiets absolutely everything. Not for $350 dollars anyway. The headphone Manual itself states that "Noise Cancellation" works primarily in the low frequency band and that although noise is reduced, it is not completely cancelled. I can best equate the effect with just the active noise cancellation mode on and with nothing playing through them, to having a good set of hearing protection earplugs in your ears. Everything sounds reduced, especially things like dronning, humming, knocking and footsteps...there is a general quieter sound you experience, but you're not left completely oblivious to some noise coming through a little. These headphones will not surround you in a magical protective vacuum bubble when you have them on. However: The real magic happens when you start playing music through these headphones or listening to a movie or such. With the active noise cancellation diminishing the outside sound pretty well all on its own, the sonic enjoyment of what is playing through the headphones is not restricted at all... you get full volume, clarity and bass and that simply causes the outside world to melt away, leaving you with a little comfort-cocoon that really does impress. I have had very good success with these headphones canceling out unwanted noises and / or being able to enjoy what I want to listen to across a range of scenarios: Noisy Neighbors next door doing noisy things, kids pounding around upstairs in the house, traveling in the car (as a passenger of course - not driving!), a couple bus commutes, and so forth. As for the sound quality, I will say that they are very good. These are not high-end audiophile reference headphones costing thousands of dollars, but there is definitely high-quality audio out of these with a nice sound stage and separation with additional tweeking you can do through Sony's Headphone Connect application to adjust equalization and bass. These are not the loudest headphones I've ever used... I've had models that are almost obnoxious in their power delivery, to the point of being painful to listen to with the volume all the way up.

Your investment will return Joy!! There is literally no comparison for the what you are getting when making this purchase. Sony hit it on the head with this one and I am quite sure that even the newer version (when Sony decides to drop one) will be even better. 10 minutes of charge will get you 5 hours of additional usage if you don't have time to wait for a full charge. The Hi-Res Audio sound reduces distortion and gives you an experience of hearing music at levels of studio recorded quality. Using Sony's app will allow you to customize your sound options. Sony took things to another level from last year's excellent WH-1000XM2 changing your charging option to a USB-C (faster charging) instead of microUSB and adding padding along the bridge from a metal padded oval gives the design an award winning product. The Sony WH-1000XM3 features aptX HD and Sony LDAC, which are two of the best ways to listen to Hi-Res music from your phone without being connected to a wire. Google Assistant and Alexa support has also been added to the firmware of this product, making it one if the smartest pair of headphones you can buy on the market. Enjoy your purchase and don't be afraid to put them them the test as I did mine in various environments. You can't go wrong!!
