Jumping to a starting wattage of 800 will be noticable, but I also know that not only is their sound quality clean and clear, but it is well tuned. To any interested buyers, if you order you need to learn how the different modes work. Sealed mode for music will make a noticable change that many find more pleasing to listen to but you will need to insert the foam things and change it on your phone app. I think if you are spending this much on a subwoofer, one should take the time to learn so they tailor their experience to what they need. I won't say you should go with the SB-3000 if you don't want to learn, but I would argue (excluding small environments need compact) the BP-3000 is the better deal because it can do both ported which is usually more desired for movies, and sealed which is more desired for music whereas the SB-3000, your only option is sealed.For casual home theatre people who want a b***** experience, this will more than suffice for your experience as well as anyone else in the room (do that subwoofer crawl...it exists for a reason). If you're looking for the more optimal experience and your budget is deeper, the PB-4000 is awesome since its the happy middle between the PB-3000 and the 16 Ultra series...but I would recommend the PB16-Ultra first. If I could have dual PB16-Ultra's, I would have them in a heartbeat (remember that 1-year trade up program for in case you change your mind and decide to go 4000/16ultra). Just remember, the PB-3000 is a beast as many other reviews also express; so, don't think because you're not getting the Ultra or the 4000 that you're getting jipped of a great experience. This sub will be a point of conversation after you demo it to your friends, I almost guarantee. Added bonus, it's black ash veneer makes it easier to incorporate into your home without it looking odd and out of place. Black does go with everything. Some may think the look of a subwoofer is not appealing but personally I think the grill cover is less appealing.To those looking into the PB-3000, I hope my review was helpful and I did not deter you. If you were at all questioning your choice during this read, let me remind you that even after everything I have written in this, I still bought one with my own money. I am personally not concerned and god forbid something goes awry, I know I am still going to be well taken care of by their customer service. If you want a well-rounded experience that makes you want to be a returning customer as well as makes you want to recommend them to others, SVS is the one of few all-around brands that will provide you that. So if I can leave you with one last thing, it's this:Roses are Red,Violets are BlueThe PB-3000Is the right choice for you!____________________________________SVS,If you do read this, I personally recommend changing the cover/grill thing to a darker black felt-like material (or at least felt-looking material) such as what you would find on Klipsch, Sony's, Bose, etc.. It makes it easier to blend it into other audio systems integrator speaker lines without looking separate/off-brand. This change would make these speaker much more appealing to who are also focused on aesthetic matching (my other half wanted me to stick with Klipsch to match the rest of our speakers but in no way, shape, or form am I buying a Klipsch subwoofer). So, with first hand experience as well, I can attest that there is a lot of others out there who think the same. To me, that becomes an entire sector of customers lost just because they do not match which cannot be that difficult of a change to make to appeal to those audiences. I recommend considering designing them to all be swappable with other models and just sell it separately...or make it the standard grill that gets shipped...or do both to appeal to both areas of your customer base. If you do find a way to make these style grills, please email me because I want to be at the top of that list. Also, I have seen some reviews online that if you have these subs on carpet and you drag, paint comes off...don't want to test this out myself because my carpets are roughed up enough already thanks to my new puppy, but something I recommend looking into just as a precaution (The_VillaMan on Youtube who is one of your reviewers noticed this issue as well as a reference).You guys are awesome, you make amazing products, and offer respectable and reputable customer service. Last year, I replaced my entire outdated a/v system and since most stores were closed, I based all my purchases mostly on youtube videos and Amazon reviews. I went with dual svs pb-2000s and was very impressed with them but they lacked the low end growl I was hoping for. Customer service was helpful but I still wasn't getting the performance I wanted. So, I upgraded to the dual svs pb-3000s and still wasn't getting the performance I was hoping for. One call to customer service changed that. Scott had me change a few settings and, wow, what a huge, huge difference it made. If you want to rock the casbah, these subs are the ones to go with. Well, my road here started with an itch to upgrade my soundbar. With knowledge of HT systems I jumped at the pieces I needed, or so I thought. My first sub was an original SB-2000, which was fun because it can make some serious SPL if you crank it up. I had forgotten everything I learned 20yrs ago about low frequency though, distortion, over driving woofers and generally 'just because it can doesn't always mean it should'. So I added a second SB-2000 pro. It helped balance the room to my ears but I was still making them do too much in my room which is approx 3200ft3 and partially open to the adjacent room. After two long phone calls with customer service, very patient and wish I could remember names because they were great, I now have dual PB-3000. The wavelength must've just been perfect.

This is a fantastic high quality sub (that goes deep), I did a lot of research and finally bit the bullet on this model (PB-3000) based on the reviews, feedback and information from the SVS folks (wonderful support answering questions from Ed and the folks on the chat lines). After one week and getting it fined tuned and broken in (although not required) and after many hours of listening to diverse content (movie and music) I am ready to provide some feedback. By the way, I listen to high quality music (minimum FLAC or 320kps) and high quality movies (digital sound) equally 50-50.This sub is magnificent; it has added so much more dimension and depth to my listening experience, again for both music and movies. I have listened (tested) all of the popular movies folks say are good for subwoofer analysis (Aquaman, a quiet place, gravity, mad max and plus one of my own favorite movies that is typically never mentioned to test a subwoofer - Hot Fuzz) and it will truly put a smile on your face (because it did for me with all that slam, depth and impact). It truly provides a whole new dimension during the listening experience (of which it never did with my old subs). Although the PB-3000 is a ported sub, it still sounds very good for music, I leave the ports open and then select the music preset on the app and voila – music comes alive again much more depth, I hear other instruments clearer along with the excellent tight base (yes tight base) that comes through.Why this sub really stands out - I have watched the movie “Hot Fuzz” many times in the past on my system (as I just love this movie – it’s hilarious) which includes a 5.2.2 Dolby Atmos setup (yes I had 2 12” ported subs before versus only one PB-3000 now). After watching “Hot Fuzz’ with this subwoofer, all I can say is wow! I had a smile on my face from beginning to end – to me this is what a quality subwoofer can provide and what the PB-3000 in my humble opinion is designed for. Trust me folks, don’t waste your time testing or listening to the first 30 seconds of “The Edge of Tomorrow” (which seems to be the popular thing to do as it proves nothing for actual sound quality), try listening to this sub or a sub you are thinking about purchasing) with content like – “Hot Fuzz” to truly appreciate what I am talking about.This is the most money I have spent ever on a stereo component (even though I feel I have high quality components in my system) and I can tell you without a doubt – the PB 3000 is worth every penny. In fact, I believe that adding a quality subwoofer such as the PB-3000 will add more of an experience and make it truly more immersive home theater experience, than buying Atmos height or ceiling speakers, based on the current content available today (especially if you cannot afford both options).
I've had two SVS PC12-NSDs for several years now. Been wanting to get more punch and planned on upgrading to dual PB-3000s. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any buyers for the PC12s and the wife said "NO" to me buying two more subs. But, I could just add one PB-3000 and keep my two PC12s! Score! The 3000 completes the room. I barely have it running when we watch movies as we already have enough bass (per wife). But when I watch by myself I crank that baby up and boy does it rock! It just fills in the room with bass. SVS Tech Support did help me with the settings to get out of it what I was looking for so a big shout out to them. I have it tucked away on the back wall, mostly out of sight. In total I have had 4 different SVS models purchased and in my home for evaluation. My living room is about 5000 cubic feet and has all the usual wife decorations. The least expensive was a used set of 25-31 PC-Plus Cylinders. They sounded great, but were not too decor friendly and with no phone app control, which made making adjustments quite difficult both in my placement and for the fact I'm running 2 channel stereo with no sound adjustments whatsoever. Then I got a smoking deal on an outlet SB 16 Ultra in gloss black. It was beautiful and powerful, but I realized that I would need two and that would be expensive and require a lot of power on one circuit including all my other components. Then I got a smoking deal on an outlet SB 16 Ultra in gloss black. It was beautiful and powerful, but I realized that I would need two and that would be expensive and require a lot of power on one circuit including all my other components. I also realized that if I move and am able to have my subs showing, the black ash would match my floor standing speakers better.So, to not spend much more money than the SB 16, I figured a pair of SB 3000s would be the ticket in black ash and would easily hide in wife's decor. Since I'm a sealed fan, I thought this would be my Goldilocks. As it turns out they were too tight for my taste, since movies are also part of the mix. They also caused more higher frequency rattles in the room. They were great, but for me they were just too tight. I can't believe I just said that. LOLSo after reviewing the SPL charts on SVS website and looking at online reviews, I decided to try the PB 3000s. Since this will hopefully be my last major stereo purchase for a long time, it was now the time to spend the extra cash and not have to upgrade later. Since they can be ran ported or sealed with the included port plugs and the app controller, the only down side is the larger size and the extra money.After extensive listening in both ported and sealed mode, these are my subs of choice. In ported mode, just one outperforms the SB 16 Ultra. In sealed mode, the pair easily outperforms the SB 16 Ultra, and has more authority and a more natural bass response than the smaller sealed SB 3000s. I also like the front of these better for when/if they ever get to straddle my entertainment center, than either of the sealed models. I don't care for the bevel on the front of 4000s and 16 Ultras that the display is mounted in and like the cleaner look of the 3000s.The only reason I would recommend the 4000s or 16 Ultras is if you have a much much much larger room and have more money than you know what do with, or if you must have the piano gloss black. I assume one day soon the PB 3000s will become available in the piano black. A pair of PB 3000s is not chump change but they hit way way above their weight and I like them better than the SB 16 Ultra. I'm sure the Ported 4000s and 16 Ultras are more amazing, but you will pay for it in dollars and real-estate. For me it would take a very very large dedicated home theater with a budget nearing the 6 figure range for the components to consider moving up from the PB-3000s.If these fit your budget and room, they are the best place to start.
The PB3000s are incredible! I have a very large room, and I first tried the sb3000s, but they were more suited for a smaller space, so I upgraded to the PBs. With the extreme fine tuning available through the app, and my new calibrated mike and REW, I have the perfect response for me. My music listening is primarily classical, and the standard setups IMO put too much mid bass into the sub, so I went rogue and set them up to make them only do the extreme low frequencies. And man, do they do them! My side channels are very good down to 45 Hz, and what they do shouldn’t be augmented or messed with. Listening to the celli and basses in the Beethoven ninth symphony, 4th movement recitatives , are beautifully matched up and blend perfectly to catch the sinewy character ... MoreThe PB3000s are incredible! If you have a large space, these will do it in spades!
Beast! Dial it in using the app and this sub performs flawlessly with movies in my home theater and with music on my Marantz integrated amp. I added the SVS isolation feet to handle vibration and sometimes use port plugs for music listening mainly to tighten up the sound of some types of music like jazz fusion. It’s pretty heavy 82lbs but ships at 97lb so something to consider when bringing it home. There are very few better subs than SVS at any price. I got ported because I use for movies and music. I went to YouTube and ran every bass test I could find. Apparently those tests are not accurate but they give any sub a workout and this SVS beast performed perfectly. I did have to dial it in a few times at high volume (over 90db). ONCE I LEARNED HOW TO USE THE APP ... MoreBeast! That’s why I use port plugs and although not a perfect solution at 60 yrs. Old I doubt I can tell the difference. They are one of the best companies I’ve come across as far as return policy, customer service, audio advice and access. They actually pick up the phone and walk you through what ever issue you have.
Pros:-Aesthetically perfect in my opinion, sleek minimalistic design with excellent fit and finish, and not too big.-A pair of these were able to dominate my large challenging space.-Very responsive customer support from selection through end of use.-Easy to acquire and reasonably good value relative to performance.Cons:-Noisy amplifiers as have been alluded to in various reviews and on forums. The noise sounds like a combination of hiss and digital noise and both of my units had it equally as bad. Many people may not care of notice, but if you spend a lot of effort having a low noise floor in your home theater, you may be disappointed that your subwoofers could be the noisiest aspect of your system. After 2 klipsch SPL 150 died on me after only 8 months….I was discouraged and decided to move on. After many ….many days of research, SVS was probably the name that came out more often. Only problem was that I wanted dual sub, they just sound better,so I was going for dual Pb2000 pro, but on my HT group on Facebook many people were telling me the same thing……buy the best sub that you can buy now….and a second one down the road…..and this is what I did. Got a Pb 3000, and boy I love it. This thing is just amazing. Dual klipsch spl 150 don’t even come close to a single Pb3000. Unfortunately can’t afford to buy a second one any time soon, but I’m already saving , can’t wait for dual.
