A serious, proper sub.

I'm not an audiophile, I can't talk about any of the technical stuff, but holy hell this thing is *awesome*. I listen to everything from Eiffel 65 (Bam bam bam) to Rammstein (thunderously deep drumming). This thing is a weapon, totally doesn't care what you throw at it. It's like a cross between a speaker and a massive sledgehammer. It reminds me of having two 15 inch subs in my old Ford Escort. It's that level of bass, only it sounds miles better. It's kind of small too which means it fits under my corner desk; I barely know it's there.Don't sit on the fence, just buy it, it's great.

Exceeds expectations!
1 September 2019

I purchased the SB-3000 as a replacement for my SB-1000. Having similarly tiny footprints, I expected some noticeable difference, but nothing dramatic. I couldn't have been more wrong! I use it in a small dedicated home theater room measuring 3.1m(L) x3.4m(W)x2.7m(H). My system is calibrated to 79dBC which I have found resembles the perceived loudness the large commercial cinemas the most. Calibrating to 85dBC in my room would sound far louder than even IMAX. So theoretically, in a 7.1 set-up, I would be asking my subwoofer to output a peak of around 111 (99*7+109)dBC at the listening position. Other subwoofers at this price range might struggle with such demands, but not the SB-3000. In fact, even after calibrating the system flat to +/-3dB, I still found the ... MoreI purchased the SB-3000 as a replacement for my SB-1000. Other subwoofers at this price range might struggle with such demands, but not the SB-3000. In fact, even after calibrating the system flat to +/-3dB, I still found the system sounding bottom-heavy during bass heavy scenes, more so than I remembered hearing in IMAX theaters. And then I found out that in Dolby Atmos' specifications for commercial cinemas (IMAX doesn't release its technical specifications, unfortunately), the subwoofers are only expected to go down to 31.5Hz +/-3dB. Therefore, to make sure that movies sound as they were intended (in large cinemas), I have to apply a 32hz high-pass filter to my subwoofer. Imagine that! The subwoofer is so powerful that even after equalization, I still need a high-pass filter to reduce the low frequencies unintended by filmmakers! Now, I understand that some people like their ultra-low frequencies, and there's nothing wrong with that. But if you have a small room like mine, like to watch movies at IMAX levels, and is content with the amount of low-frequency output found in IMAX, then look no further!

Excellent subwoofer. Easy to recommend.

My Velodyne SPL-1000 subwoofer has died and I bought replacement from SVS. I got SB-1000 Pro first. Excellent sub for the money. I use REW to calibrate and validate results. SB-1k was able to play lower frequencies than Velodyne but had less headroom and slightly more distortions. I decided to upgrade to SB-3000. This version does everything better. Plays all the way to 10 Hz, plenty of headroom and sounds very clean and musical. I am completely happy with the results.iPhone app is great. It makes calibration so simple. The only negative is auto-standby. It takes a loud signal to wake up. It could be more sensitive. Trigger cable from my receiver to the sub resolved this.

Very happy I finally went with SVS!
21 September 2021

I had been looking at reviews of SVS subs for a very long time, and a glad I finally pulled the trigger on an SVS sub. I decided to replace my aging B&W sub that I've had for almost 20 years. It's eaten up hundreds of dollars in required repairs over the years and I could start to audibly hear the driver bottom out and distort more at louder levels. I decided to get the SB-3000 because I like the tightness of sealed subs, and the overall features, cabinet size, and driver size matched my requirements. I listen to a lot of 2CH music and wanted something that sounds great with music and movies. I am now running a dual sub setup, and kept the B&W sub running at a lower level to fill in bass. I regret not upgrading to a dual sub setup a long time ago. It really makes a difference in the uniformity of the bass response, especially given that our listening room is quite large. Eventually, I will replace the B&W sub with a second SB3000 but for the time being I am very happy with this purchase and my current setup. I was also relieved to see the black ash finish blend well with my existing speakers, the marketing pictures on the SVS website must have used a bright flash that makes the finish look very different from its look under normal lighting conditions. I love the bluetooth app as well -- huge upgrade from my old sub from 2003! Overall, 5 stars!!!

WOW what a Difference
20 November 2021

I have been wanting to replace my existing subwoofers for awhile. They were built for and are are good for music but do no extend deep enough for a home theater environment. I had been looking at SVS subwoofers for awhile and decided to pull the trigger on a SVS SB-3000. All I can say is WOW, what a difference. I immediately noticed deeper bass while watching movies. Music sounded better as well with tight bass that hit hard without the booming sound that I had with my ported subwoofers. My wife who never cares about audio commented how much better the music sounded while listening to music. I was so impressed by the SB-3000 that I ordered another one. I wish I had purchased these subwoofers long ago. Absolutely no regrets, I highly recommend the SVS SB-3000 subs.

What a great sub. My Def Tech SuperCube 2000 died finally and trying to find a better replacement proved hard. I have a 16' vaulted ceiling in a 25x11 room. I tried an SVS 3000 Micro, SVS 2000 Pro, neither of which could fill the room enough. I finally consulted SVS who recommended the 3000. What a different. This hits so hard and low. It blows the SuperCube I had away which could never hit this low, but it also has the mid-bass that the 3000 Micro and 2000 Pro were lacking. So it hits hard, low and also sounds full. Very happy with this purchase.

Phenomenal. Hands down. Raw power, great range. I had been going back and forth a lot ever since my Boston Acoustics RPS1000 died after ten years. I was eyeing spending up to $~1k, was eyeing Ported Box models, and was even willing to stretch a but up for a PB version if it seemed right. I have a ~2,950 cubic feet rectangular room with one of the shorter walls almost completely open walkway (minus 2.5 feet of semi dividing wall on each end), and then 1/6th of a long walk open where in meets the open shorter wall. I have the sub in the corner by the 2.5 semi dividing wall. Huge amount of base. Floor shaking. I'm happy at neutral level but my wife wants it lowered. Bluetooth cell phone app with 3 customizable pre-sets make it easy to change from the couch. I ended up going with the SB-3000 for a few reasons: - massive RMS and peak rating - great low frequency range - price in my ideal range - ~15" cube size could fit in my AV cabinet (currently messy as I'm upgrading) vs a porded box that would be 24+ inch deep and 20+ inch high This delivers amazing deep bass sound with lots of volume. I was worried it wouldn't be enough to fill the room given the opening, but it more than does the job. It looks great, and it feels very compact to me for what it delivers especially since it fits right into the ~17" cube hole in my AV cabinet that previously occupied the RPS 1000. This is my first direct experience with SVS and I'm very happy! Separately, seen above, is the defi itive technogy SR9080 bipolar surround speakers. They happen to blend phenomenally with the SVS SB-3000 (testing them both - and definitely keeping them both), and my speaker placement isn't ideal right now because I've yet to hang them.
