Thierry Mugler Alien Eau De Parfum Refillable 30ml

I was gifted this from a man I was seeing in 2014, I had never heard or seen this brand or purfume before to it was completely new to me and when I smelled it I was in love. I think the bottle being that deep purple just fits well with the scent too. To be honest this was the first expensive purfume experience I had ever had. Growing up my mom was allergic to artificial scents of all kinds so I wasn't allowed to have anything ever! Everytjme I wear this people look at me and say "omg what are you wearing it smells amazing," and im not exaggerating at all. I sprizts some on my wrist and it will last all day long. That was the first thing I noticed different about luxury brands. They last longer and the smell just hits differently. Cheaper brand also smell great but in my experience they don't last super long. I have made this my signature scent though. I can dress it down or up and its always the same. I will forever love this and buy this til I die. I havent yet tried the other scent because I love this one so much that jm afraid I will like the other just the same and then buy it and struggle with what one I want to wear on a daily basis, thats a "me problem," always lol. I do think anyone and everyone will enjoy this and connect to it like I did. So if you are wanting to try something new this is a no brainer, its a safe bet and a winner. I will and do recommend this.

Boy was I naive. EVen though I had been forewarned by EVERY REVIEW OUT THERE, it is a mixture between unique, sweet, odiferous, and feminine in its initial contact with your skin. It is such a unique fragrance it may catch you off guard when you first spray it. While I like the opening and the end, the middle the song has some uniquely irritating notes. When I first reviewed this perfume, I assumed it was just one note that I could smell. But after trying this scent multiple times (yes, I am a glutton for punishment when it comes to fragrance) I came to realize that it isn’t a singular scent profile that creates that malodorous tension in the middle, but the combination of the unique notes in the perfume and their interaction with my body Chemistry. This odd note shows up around the 30 minute mark and while I still find it unappealing, on me, no one else smells what I do. I have asked family and friends if they could smell this off note and they couldn’t. In fact, so,me said it was slightly sweet, akin to vanilla. Even though the notes are Jasmine Sambac, Cashmere, and Sweet Amber Accord, i have never had a negative reaction when wearing those notes, so there has to be more to the story than what they list on their website. Because I have tried this scent so many times trying to figure out that middle, I don’t find it as unappealing as I did a few years back during my maiden voyage. However, I will admit I’m still not a fan of what my nose smells during that part of the Alien song. Thankfully the odd note doesn’t last forever. Within a couple hours it is has disappeared and is a pleasant smell once again. The dry down is by far my favorite part of Alien. It’s definitely different than your average dry down, but neither is it overwhelming like the beginning and middle. It has a sweet dry down with a hint of earthiness about it. While I believe you can wear fragrance whenever the heck you want, I really like Alien in the winter. It is a great scent that can transition from day to night in the colder weather without becoming unbearably heavy. The unique notes hold up to the cold air, which is the most important thing when looking for a scent to wear in the winter. Does the cold air seem to take a great fragrance and zap it right into oblivion? It is a darker scent that is quite exotic due to the brilliant play within the composition itself. Alien lasts about six hours on me before I feel I am pushing the limit of the scent. I think it would be better to refresh it at about the four to five hour mark, especially if you are wearing this out for the evening. While I swore I would never buy another travel spray of Alien, I have and I will continue to do so (but I should graduate up to a full size just to save money, at the very least), because it is so very unique and I want to understand it better than i, the amateur fragrance junkie, really can. Funny enough, I own a few Alien flankers, all purchased to better understand the Queen Bee, herself. Will I ever? I really don’t know, but I’m not going to give up trying. In the meantime, man do I smell good.

I am a little disappointed by this scent. I have wanted to try this for years, bc I thought the bottle was STUNNING. It's one of my all-time favorite perfume bottles. The scent is just okay. I like it more than I dislike it though. Not a bad scent, just not for me. So many people rave about it, I think it's a basic soapy white floral. I prefer fruity-floral gourmands. I can see more people liking this than the typical polarizing Mugler scents, I think it's a crowd-pleaser and maybe even a safe blind buy. I think it would be nice in colder months day or night. Daytime would be for more of a bolder woman. A bit too heavy for hot days.I wouldn't buy this myself, but I would consider keeping it myself if gifted instead of selling it bc the bottle is just so beautiful! ... MoreI am a little disappointed by this scent. Based on my memory it is not a dupe for Alien Eau Extraordinaire Mugler.Sillage is arms-length to 6 feet. Better sillage than some other Mugler scents I have tried.Edit: After about 1.5 hour the scent has really grown on me, changing vote to like. It wouldn't be my signature scent, but I do like it.Longevity is good at 6-8 hours.

I decided to order from Mugler directly (or L’Oreal) because I thought maybe I would have better luck, but sadly that was not the case. The refill that was sent has very little fragrance and a strong alcohol presence. I reached out and told them of this and was told to send the unopened product back. Of course it was opened, how else would I have known the scent was off and explained this in my return email. Disappointing Formula Change

First time I smelt Alien was 2014 in Nordstrom’s & I immediately became obsessed. I was a teenager so the only size I could afford was the smallest & I used it sparingly for the last 8 years. The best thing about it was the scent would last an entire day & if I used it on clothing like a jacket it would last multiple days. When I finally could afford a full size bottle I went all in but I noticed that not only did it have an overwhelming alcoholic smell, it also faded within hours. After doing some research I saw that the latest reformulation was done when L’Oreal bought the company & sadly that included the bottle I bought. Despite this I still like the smell overall but I’ve been looking at bottles online with the old formulation to buy from now on. I want the original formula

My love for this scent has been forever !! I noticed recently a few changes have been made had I not read any reviews I would have continued to think it was my mind playing tricks on me . When I first discovered the best perfume I thought in America ALIEN I fell in love I had so many compliments and the scent would stay on a 24 hr period and the scent stayed on my clothes or car even the bedding for days ! Just recently noticed the scent is gone with in hours and there’s a alcohol smell included why do you offer an EAU DE PERFUME if the oil is not present ? I am aware of the change made from the original to this new updated formula. This perfume is popular for a reason. The moment I smelled it, I felt like I was being hypnotized; this perfume was calling to me. The jasmine here is definitely reminiscent of Good Girl, although it's much more prominent here, since it's one out of the three notes that this perfume has. Alien's performance is INSANE. It easily lasts 10+ hours on skin, and literally will not come off of clothes until you wash them. It's enveloping, powerful; you do NOT need more than 2 sprays of this. Everyone in the room can smell you with a single spray. I honestly can't see myself wearing this daily; it's so powerful and potent that I can only see myself saving this for special occasions. Love the New EASY Refill Design! So Bought TWO!!

I ONLY purchase refills now as an Alien Addict, and just refill the collectable, jewel-like talisman bottles. But before, monkeying with the tiny, thimble-sized funnel, I would always waste a dribble or two. So I got in the habit of refilling over a drawer full of socks. Good plan. Huh? Teehee. But this new refill is absolutely ingenious. Just pull off and unscrew top from refillable spray-bottle as before. But now just tip refill upside down with spout inside the empty spray-bottle neck. Then turn right to fill, and left to stop. No mess and nuthin' to mess with. And the same process to add to my spray-on body-oil. Upside down, swivel right to add fragrance and left to stop. Well done Mugler!

Perfectly Named

This is definitely a try-before-you-buy scent. I really love jasmine in perfume and have a ton that contain it but this smells entirely different from all of them. It’s oddly complex and tricky to pin down. It comes on strong and astringent at first spray. It’s kind of unpleasant but it settles down into a much more subtle scent. Warm, creamy and woodsy. It’s almost masculine but for that whiff of floral jasmine. But there’s still something odd and almost dirty about it. I hated it at initial spray but liked the mellower dry down. Sadly, I think this was made for a bolder person than me.
