Bought this as a gift for my husband. The backpack is great, the packaging not so. Paid extra for gift wrap and included a card. Bloomingdale’s did not gift wrap the gift, left the price tag on and threw a rumpled piece of paper at the bottom of the box with the gift message. Not the usual classy Bloomingdale’s moment. Seriously disappointed. Did call customer service and am getting credited for what I paid for gift wrap.

Just great! The bag looks even better in person, and all the hidden pockets make the bag extremely functional. I travel quite a bit with 16 inch MBP and Ipad pro, and the laptop compartment took that with no issues. Personally love the quick access plastic pocket, I put pens and gums in there.

Overall I love the bag. I travel a lot for work and wanted to splurge on something nice to help me along the way. I've had others from Ogio, eBags, TravelPro, and more... and this is easily one of my favorites. But it's not perfect.THE GOOD: Overall quality is excellent. This is my first Tumi product, and I'd still say that it's expensive but I don't feel like I overpaid for something that's going to fall apart. And the overall capacity is great for me. The straps are REALLY comfortable. It has more space that nearly any other Tumi backpack. For the most part, I also really like the pockets and the storage setup (but a couple issues below). The top front pocket is probably my favorite. It's perfect to empty my pockets into when I'm going through airport security. ... MoreOverall I love the bag. The top front pocket is probably my favorite. It's perfect to empty my pockets into when I'm going through airport security. Having a keyNOT AS GOOD: Despite liking most of the storage setup, some of the choices really hurt this bag more than they should and are really questionable choices. For example, the tablet pocket in the laptop compartment - I don't have a tablet but would love a simple place to stash paperwork or a folder with itinerary/reservation confirmations that isn't in the main compartment. This pocket is about a half inch too narrow to hold a letter size sheet of paper - and never mind a folder of papers ever fitting. The front pocket "flap" with the windowed pocket behind it. The "flap" pocket is fine but what's up with the clear window? WHAT IS THIS FOR? I cannot come up with a single useful thing to do with this pocket. It's not big enough for most tickets and other paperwork. Even if it were, you wouldn't ever leave things in there to scan them or that you'd need to see through the window. It's super confusing. The smaller organizer things in the larger front pocket are also not as nice as they could be. One pen slot? What's up with that? The zip expasion on the bottom is also not what I was hoping for in practice. There's no way for it to "stay" expanded. As soon as you set the bag down, it collapses again. So if you want to fill it to take advantage of the space, you kind of have to fill the bag, then hold it up a little to let the bottom expand, and then continue to fill it.Like I said, I still like the bag overall - but it just feels like there are some odd design choices that really should have been fixed - ESPECIALLY for the money. If there were a v2 of this bag with a couple of these things fixed, I'd probably buy it right away.

There is a separate tablet/e-reader slot, however, unfortunately cannot accommodate a 12.9” iPad.The main compartment is spacious and has 4 internal pockets are perfectly sized for small travel items. Two are small and flat for a handkerchief and two are a bit larger and accommodated an eyeglass case. It also has Tumi+ loops for a single horizontal configuration. I hung a Tumi+ vertically instead - liked that it kept it on top for quick access (photo included). The Pack stands up on it’s own (yeah!) and provides easy access to load up the main compartment. What sold me on the pack is the bottom zip extension. Love it that the Tumi designers added this, it gives enough extra space for a lightweight overnight excursion.Multiple well-placed exterior pockets that helps separate/organize all travel essentials like pens, notebooks, cards, keys, cables, etc. The magnetic flap pocket is small, but handles earbuds, small wallet etc. Under it is a clear slide in pocket that’s also an option for a phone or other quick access items, maybe travel cutlery? On the top is a pocket (hypalon?) that adds a nice aesthetic and lots of room (roughly 8 x 9d x 2). Plenty of space for snacks and medium sized items.Side pockets (also hypalon?) are large enough for an Evian 750ml bottle or similar. One is lined with waterproof material to help control sweaty or leaky things. The other is lined with the same pack liner material. The hypalon exterior has a daisy chain that accommodates the Tumi+ components. I tested the small Tumi+ zip pocket and it’s secure, even more so than the other Tumi+ loops. I’m not 100% sold on the exterior pockets yet, but love the concept. Note that a lot of reviews for the Tumi+ mentioned that items dislodge easily and even have lost items. In my initial testing, I didn’t have a problem, but it would be easy to thread a small band or zip-tie to ensure it will stay put.Biggest disappointment is that the pack does not come with a sternum strap (at least one of the other new packs has one included!). Since it can handle larger loads, a sternum strap would help immensely. I found a reasonably priced 3rd party strap with a Fidlock buckle, which Tumi uses in some of their newer styles.Overall, a great pack with a ton of space and pocket options. It’s big and can handle an overnight trip or a big day adventure. My only 2 slight negatives are that the tablet sleeve is too small for larger tablets and no sternum strap (easily remedied).Nice work Tumi designers.
