So lets start with what you see first, the look its a colour combo you see alot from VO5 with the dark blue but this time it's in a metal tin with a nice screw top. The smell was nice enough nothing to write home about but far from horrible. Now for the hold it shows on the tin 5 out of 5 on the hold level so i assumed it would be long lasting and strong I was a bit disappointed to be honest now my hair is longer than usual but not long and it moved around a lot and I felt only part the way through the day that it had lost the styling i had put into it. All in all its a good product and for pretty short hair would give a decent hold. I've had much stronger holds or clays and creams in the past from other companies. So would i use this? Not if I was looking for the strongest hold possible but with well trimmed hair and a medium hold then this is good.

My hair is short-medium length and fine-medium density. As a result, I find it hard to find a product that shapes my hair well without requiring hairspray as well to hold it firm. The VO5 Matt clay was really easy to sculpt ito shape with the normal pea sized amount. I like to create a flicked fringe with wavy through the top and side of the cuts. I grade the sides and back, sweeping the style from my left to right. I usually use a paste as I find clay harder to apply unless my hair is really short in a French crew cut. I like the VO5 tin style with the solid blue style and find their products easy to fit into wash bags when I am traveling. After applying the fringe fell after ten minutes, so I applied a little water and worked it back into shape. I found myself doing this during the day rather a lot as the hold couldn’t quite hold my fringe up as required. However, a little water is all that is required to rework the style and it didn’t leave a residue which meant no itchy skin after reworking or running my hand through my hair. It is now approaching early evening and the product has no greasy leftover residue which is better than my usual creams and pastes which leave my hair a little greasy or gel / hairspray that leave it dry. It’s a flexible product that is really easy to rework, but I would like a stronger hold with my style.

I always prefer clay over gels and other products. The matt look lets you have a style that looks more natural and less plasticy-refined. This is where this product is great. You can create that 'not long out of bed, still effortless' (/spent forever in the mirror) style that never fails. I have been using this nearly a week now. I know the matt effect works when a friend says to me 'oh you use stuff on your hair'. No Nas... I just wake up naturally with hair fixed into a wavy-spike position. Some people! On the spike side of things - This is great for ensuring spikey hair. You don't have to go super spikey-mikey. I go a little roughed up wavey-spikey and it works just a treat. Its good for creating whole areas of hair with a similar style or direction too, but ... MoreI always prefer clay over gels and other products. Its good for creating whole areas of hair with a similar style or direction too, but perhaps less good for fine tuning. This is because as a clay product, it can be a bit thick and tough to work evenly without just going over the top. Wetter and thinner clay products are a bit better at getting into the nooks and crannies and sorting those annoying stray bits (mines on the top right at the back) that no matter how much you cut them off, force them down, beat with a stick - they still do their own thing and rebel! Smells good, which is always a bonus - though it doesn't last long... and lets be honest, nobody buys their clay for the scent. Over-all, a good product. If it was a tiny tiny bit thinner, I'd probably up the star.

I have tried many different clay and wax's for my hair over the years, so I have a good idea what I like and what works for my type and style of hair. My hair is short and it is styled with a swept back flick on the fringe, this requires a strong hold otherwise it would just flop back down. I tend to avoid the hard clay's such as the VO5 Matt clay as I tend to find them slightly more difficult to style with. However, upon using the VO5 Matt clay for the first time I found that it was very effective at styling my hair without using a massive amount of the product. It was also very easy to use and left no mess in my hair. Generally the hold was good, however I tended to need to add a little extra product for my swept back fringe to ensure it would hold. A tad more hold would make this product great. In a strong wind I'm not sure it would hold up well. The product is flexible in that you can restyle later in the day or make any adjustments - which helps if you catch a breeze. I especially like the fact that it makes your hair look natural - some wax's and clay's I've found, tend to show that you have product in your hair - however with this product I haven't found that to be an issue. It leaves you with a very natural look. I'd definitely consider buying this product again. The plus points of this product are its ability to style your hair with minimal product and it's natural looking finish. The minor negative point in my opinion are its hold - which I think would be a little light in windy conditions, however it is still sufficient for most everyday activities and would not be a problem for those with shorter hair or styles that do not require a stronger hold. I'd have no issues recommending this product to anyone to try and I'll definitely look at buying this again, if the price is right when my current tin is empty.
I have given this product from VO5 4 out of 5. It is great product but nothing special or unique. I have other VO5 products and also other brands similar to this and they work just as well. Here are my thoughts: PACKAGING - classic VO5 style, east to use twist lid on the tin. Always liked the blue vibrant colours SMELL - Love the smell. Whilst it isn’t the strongest smell or sweetest, it is subtle and very pleasant. A clean smell. FEEL - as expected with a clay, it is firm but warms up nicely between the fingers making it easy to apply USE - application easy as mentioned, you really do not need a lot. Styling is quick and leaves a nice finish. HOLD - I wouldn’t say it is 5 out of 5 for long lasting hold. Still I don’t think this is a big negative as this tends to be the case with a lot of clay products OVERALL - the product is nice, affordable and does the job. As I said, it isn’t different enough or special enough to make me chose it over any other clay product but there isn’t anything wrong with it. If it gave better hold than others, had a wow scent or something unique it would stand out more.
At present, I have short hair; skin fades on the side and back with some length left on the top which I style in a choppy/messy quiff style. Due to the height, I need a product that holds well and doesn’t look overly shiny. The VO5 Matt Clay comes in a modern looking blue tin, easy to hold and easy to use. The clay itself is a blue/grey colour in the pot. It feels firm but smooth to the touch. When applying, I use a marble sized amount on my hair, scooping it with one finger then rubbing between my hands. The clay itself feels quite firm when warmed up, leading me to think I’d get excellent hold. I then used the clay to style my hair. The clay goes in easily, holding my hair initially quite well and giving good definition without my hair looking like a block. At this point, I noticed that the clay wasn’t exactly matt look - I had a definite gloss to my hair. It looks ok, but I want a matt look and this product sadly didn’t deliver. Having left the product in for 2 or so hours whilst getting in with my day, I noted that my hair had begun to fall and lost the definition did achieved when first styling my hair. Overall, I’d say this was a decent clay ideal for someone with short hair that isn’t too lengthy and a style that isn’t too tall and for someone who likes a more glossy look to their hair. For me, this clay just didn’t hit the mark.
Prior to using/buying the product, as a consumer I would like to know what this product can do for me. What it offers and how ‘special / different’ it will be compared to all the other hundreds of hair styling products. Most importantly I wish to know realistically how long will this product keep my style solid for before it loses its strength. It would be reassuring if it had any health quality’s too I.e Moisturisering or nourishing for the hair & roots. Using this product was perfect. A nice solid tin which opens the lid with ease (only a little screw off). The product isn’t much to look at and a horrible colour but it doesn’t matter as once it’s on your head it’s no longer of any relevance. With this product ‘a small amount goes a long way’. The product isn’t much to look at and a horrible colour but it doesn’t matter as once it’s on your head it’s no longer of any relevance. With this product ‘a small amount goes a long way’. It was simple to apply and what I love a lot about this product was it was easy to wash off. A little soap and water and your hands are sticky free, you don’t have to scrub and scrub for ages like I have had to do previously with other men’s styling products. The greatest and most appealing aspect of this Clay is that it doesn’t DARKEN my hair. What I mean by that is I have ‘dark blonde / very light brown hair’ with gels and waxed before I have styled my hair and it really darkens the colour of my hair. I like having light coloured hair but with cheap gels and Moose’s sometimes my hair would appeared shades darker. With this Matt Clay there was no issues at all this with this which was a huge bonus for me. The one and only very very small issue, something so unimportant but a negative non the less - the smell. It wasn’t horrendous or horrific but if I was to give this product 5/5 stars I would like a sweat smelling hair Clay. Over all this product was ace, easily applied and easily washed off. Lasted for ages and didn’t lose colour to my hair. Love it very much. The reason for the photo - I am a window cleaner and I tried to gel/style my hair up to match my window cleaning brush Head!!
If your like me you probably hate the idea of buying hair products as it's a pain to find one that can hold your hair type. Nothing worse then having to lather your hair in product just to get some sort of shape or keep it in place. That was until I came about this product. The first thing I noticed about V05's Matt Clay is how thick it is. Unlike most brands where it's says it has a "Strong" hold yet bit of wind or bit of water and that hold is gone...this keeps your hair in check. Now I'm not saying it makes your hair indistructable to wind and rain (how else are you going to wash it out); what it does do is makes it resilient. I've gone through windy weather and lightish rain, my hair looking like a chewed up bog brush due to it; however a quick few flicks and swipe my hair was back to how it was before i met the force of nature. Amazingly enough you don't even need that much, a blob bout size of a baked bean, rub it between your palms and your laughing....obviously depending on length of hair may need more though it is suited more for the short cut hair type. I've even gone to bed; wake up and my hair needed little to no management from night before...happy days (Not saying it's hard to wash out its amazing how resilient it is). All in all out of all the products I've used , amount ive had to use prior to sculpt my hair...im defiantly buying this product again in a heart beat. Thank you V05 making my hair life easier. Highly recommended, would consider to people.
Well, I have never used washing liquid. I always had and have powder, I guess being a creature of habit. So when his campaign came along I was a little sceptical to whether it would stain the clothes, rinse out before the main wash started or if it would wash the same. The day it was delivered I used it straight way, read the directions because I had no idea what to do with it with never using a liquid before. The bottle overall is well thought out, the design of it all is eye catching and a great shape. I love the bottle cap, it's pours out gently with no mess and I think the wash cap is a brilliant design and a well thought out idea. And the fact it just pops back into the bottle. I think it's easy to store, pour with the hole acting like a handle. Smells really nice and hoping the clothes come out smelling the same.Easy to sit it in with the washing, no mess!! Now was the moment of truth, the start button was pressed on the washing machine, I had not made the usual mess trying to get the powder in the compartment like I usually do, with my washing machine being housed under the work top and catching the scoop is a daily occurrence. Or my other option is putting the scooped powder in with the washing machine, but some things I wash the wash powder clumps up and then doesn't rinse off the clothes so leaves white powder marks everywhere. But then I've also placed liquid conditioner in and that stained, hence why at this point of putting the Persia liquid in, if it will be the same conclusion. 59 minutes later.... The wash is finished...... And I'm very impressed, well done Persil!!! It's washed really well, the cap pops straight back into the bottle, washing smells nice, fresh and clean, no stains from the liquid sitting on the clothes and on inspection hanging them out to dry, all stains were gone. My husband gets very dusty and filthy at work, his clothes came out great. My work clothes are usually covering in grease and oil and with a cap full it gets them out. My new clothes have washed great, sometimes they fade slightly after the first wash.. Not with Persil. Liquid is now my future purchase especially Persil. It's less messy, I'm not cleaning up spilt powder and no more powder marks. Thanks Persil!
As a brief background, over the years I have used a variety of hair products in order to style my hair in a way that works for me. My hair is cut quite short (somewhere between a grade 2 and 3 - depending on the part of the head). I have always had fine hair but now being in my 30s it's thinning a bit. This generally makes it difficult to style as if I use too much hair product it just clumps together and makes it look thinner. My hair also tends to look quite greasy, so I don't like products that compound this. The 'matt' effect is something that appeals to me, as mentioned I already have greasy looking hair, so it doesn't need to look worse. I started by following the instructions on the tin to the point. I washed my hair, waited until it was completely dry and then applied a small amount to my hair. I was able to style easily with it and as the tin says 'a small amount goes a long way'. The tin also displays a graphic showing that its hold is classed as strong. In my opinion, the amount of VO5 Matt Clay required to style is not the same as is required to hold my hair in place when I step out the door. Therefore, the next time I tried the clay in the same process however with an amount I deemed suitable for holding hair in place. Sure enough it worked, but at the cost of my hair looking greasy. In an attempt to test the VO5 Matt Clay in other situations I tried it on slightly damp hair, as who has time after their morning shower to wait for their hair to be bone dry? This resulted in a greasy look. I also went for a hair dried option, which as expected worked in the same way as my first attempt. I then opted to try my normal method of hair styling. I used a small amount of clay (normally I use a different type of product) and once styled, used hairspray to give a bit more hold. This combination worked best for me. I actually found the matt clay worked well the next day for restyling if I didn't have a shower. So it might be a good option for if you're going away overnight. In conclusion, would I buy VO5 Matt Clay again? Unfortunately, no. Personally this hair product wasn't right for my hair and lifestyle. However, if I had thicker hair I could imagine it being awesome for styling, restyling and creating a messy hair look.
