Great little rangefinder, unbeatable value for money.Haven't used it much yet, but I did take it to a lookout and test it a bit.The farthest reading I got was 1150m on some trees, though I was not able to repeat this.I could get as far out as 1070m repeatedly. It may go farther on a reflective surface, but there was nothing reflective around to test it on.The test was at about 4pm and the lighting was ideal. All the functions seem to work beautifully, the display is very bright and clear, and the pouch is great too.The adjustable brightness is great - dim for night stuff and full boar on a sunny day.At very close ranges, the reticle or the target will be blurry - you can't have both in focus, but this is not an issue, because once you get outside 10m, ... MoreGreat little rangefinder, unbeatable value for money.Haven't used it much yet, but I did take it to a lookout and test it a bit.The farthest reading I got was 1150m on some trees, though I was not able to repeat this.I could get as far out as 1070m repeatedly. It may go farther on a reflective surface, but there was nothing reflective around to test it on.The test was at about 4pm and the lighting was ideal. All the functions seem to work beautifully, the display is very bright and clear, and the pouch is great too.The adjustable brightness is great - dim for night stuff and full boar on a sunny day.At very close ranges, the reticle or the target will be blurry - you can't have both in focus, but this is not an issue, because once you get outside 10m, everything's tack sharp. In all, this rangefinder is perfect for me and you can't really go wrong with a warranty like Vortex's.This is my first Vortex product, but I don't think it's gonna be my last.Keep up the good work, Vortex!

Actually went to the store to buy a different brand that was on sale. The salesman pointed out all the better features on this unit and the lifetime warranty. I was sold on it and don’t regret it one bit. Used it entire archery and gun season in Pa and on a moose hunt in Newfoundland. Performed flawlessly!

The first one I received was factory faulty and would not range past 60 meters so sent it back for a. Replacement. Second unit sent works well as advertised but around 1200m seams to be the max range I can get out of it. At 800m range it works really well and acquires targets easily. The advertised 1400 yard range distance must be on a perfect reflective target . I can’t get that range out of the unit.

Have had for several weeks and seems to range easily past 1000 yards. I intend to use for archery hunting so do not need for long distances. Small size and easily used with one hand. Comes with handy case. If it lasts several years I will give it 5 stars. Just what I was looking for.
I bought this a month ago and am very pleased with the performance. Would be a 5 start review but these don't match the Diamondback HD's 12x50's I purchased or their box with that classic Vortex green. They're black on black and honestly not the buy once, cry once experience I'd recommend as they don't match or look like their packaging lol
This has been my go to range finder for the last elk, deer, and spring bear season. It does everything I could ask for as a bowhunter. I don't see the need to spend $700+ on a rangefinder when this model with compete with the best of them. I have never had it not pick up a range. Definitely recommend to anyone looking to quality on a budget.
When actively engaging it had lines in the display that would show up in the optical view finder. Not only distracting but made it hard to use. Also HCD is very confusing. Line of sight has angle displayed but the HCD is supposed to be used in an angled setting with no angle reference? Threw me off and would have thrown my shots due to poor instructions. YouTube videos explain it better but I wouldn’t trust the manual. Either way it does what is says but I’m disappointed in the overall experience.
I am giving this a 4 so far since I have played with it but not used it hunting yet. The yardages are accurate and it is crystal clear. My old rangefinder had the data start to fade out which is very unhandy. It is simple to use which is what I wanted since I use 3 different arrows depending on what I am hunting. I hope the lifetime warranty is as good as they say just in case. My old one was not as good or long.
Great range finder, have found it is best in thick cover hunting where you will be ranging through or close to brush. Some rangefinders keep on ranging just the bush and can be very frustrating. Only thing that's annoying is the range button is flat with the top of the range finder. So you don't know if your finger is on it or not. Will fix this by glueing a button or something on it.
I bought this range finder for quick-checking flat target archery ranges and for my use on 3-D archery ranges. The Vortex Crossfire 1400 is simple to use and more than accurate enough for my needs. The auto-slope functionality works extremely well. It differentiates 3-D targets from the background in bright light, mottled light, and dim light/heavy shade. I've used it to determine target ranges from 10 yards out to 70 yards. The 3-D targets were light brown, dark brown, white/tan/brown, and flat black. None of them were shiny/reflective. This range finder has not presented any issues so far and I don't expect to find any in the future.
