This bbq plate is great. Had a minor scare as the box has the dimensions of the smaller model printed on it but it does fit a family q 3100. I've had a perfect strike rate with plugging in usb ports since I got this and my dad has regrown his hair after being splashed with grease off of it so it is indeed the perfect addition to your weber family q.

One is very good but don’t buy two because of the possible hazard. The first time it was used it made chicken thighs to perfection. They practically slid off with no oil. Very even heat. Must have for a Weber grill…

This griddle is so handy. I can cook so much on it that normal is tough to cook on grates. Chicken doesn’t come apart. Burgers are fantastic, I can even toast the buns! Live in Florida so will be perfect if we lose power to a storm!

Not sure I will ever understand why the BBQ didnt come with a half flat plate, other than for revenue driven reasons The restrictions on food cooking are now over, it was the best thing buying a flat plate to broaden food range - I can now cook eggs with breakfast and, onions without loosing them through the open grill!! Just love it!
I had a major issue with the controls. On of the spindles was bent. The Good Guys were excellent in assisting me. However the response from Weber was very poor and unhelpful.The overall quality of the product is not great. The plastic mouldings had a lot of flashing. Not too sure about the castings and various other metal parts. Only time will tell. It does function ok as a bbq.
Not enough information. I bought the second hot plate for our Family Q to extend the cooking surface, but following the purchase found that Weber advised online against a second plate due to excessive heat buildup. I now have a hot plate I cannot use. That said, the plate is a good direct replacement for the original plate.
The family Q accessory that is a must have. The Weber Family Q is a serious outdoor appliance that I know I couldnt live without, especially as Id rather cook meat and fish outside to prevent lingering odours. The hotplate itself is heavy and easily put in place instead of one half of the grill plate. Ideally it should be left in place as the Weber BBQ trolley doesnt have room to store it safely. If I was to rate its usefulness it would be 10/10 as it allows you to cook pancakes, bacon and eggs and is relatively easy to clean. The household dishwasher has it looking like new after weeks of use. My only criticism is that as the Family Q is expensive to buy initially this hotplate really should have been part of it and not an $85.00 must have accessory.
I have a Weber q2000 with this griddle at my campsite. I use it every weekend to cook breakfast. It's the best part of my grill, (love it!). I wouldn't be so excited about eggs and bacon without it. So I ordered one for my Weber q300 grill. It's a much bigger grill, and the griddle is just as awesome with more cooking space. It is very well made, and if you keep it conditioned, it will last forever, with very minimal sticking. Seems to heat evenly with the small grill and the big grill.
It's a no brainer that this is an excellent product. it is galling however, that a bbq this size doesn't include this as one half of the cooking surface. Instead they supply 2 exact same grill plates and make you purchase this as an extra at 80 dollars. Wish I had shares in Weber. Needless to say I can now cook steak on my bbq. hooray
Besides price, the good guys Noarlunga don't have much product knowledge. They sold me a weber Q 3000 family, they didn't tell me this doesn't come with the bigger cover that has the thermometer on it. I got the basic camping model and cost me an extra $189 to buy the correct cover. Happy now but I shouldn't have had to worry about this as I thought I was already getting it in my deal. Pretty disappointing
