I must admit, I'd never heard of this brand but wanted to compliment the dry food I've been feeding my kitties. Even though i feed them a high quality dry, I want them to have healthy kidney function which means, the more moisture in their diet, the better. These Wellness Appetizing Entrées are made to be a meal itself and is packed with real chicken (#1 ingredient) and plenty of gravy that drives my cats crazy. Their are also grain-free and have no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. I still use it as a topper because I have 4 kitties but combined with a quality dry food, you're giving your fur babies a nutritious meal they will love!

When I open the package, my cat Pennie comes running down. she loves this stuff. I usually feed her a pate mix but since getting this, she clearly loves the chicken in gravy. Will continue to get this for her as its a clear winner with her

First of all, my my cat goes absolutely nuts for these packets! She sees me pick one up and starts running between me and her food bowl, screaming at the top of her lungs. Even the dog hangs around hoping for drops of juice that might fall down! That said, I as the human have a couple of adjustments I would make to the packaging. There's plenty of food per packet, but I think the packets are just a little too small (or maybe a little too snug) for the contents, with a little too much liquid. I say this because when I open one, only the liquid comes out on its own (sometimes in a gush) and I have to go digging with a spoon to get the meat out... while being screamed at by a cat haha. My cat likes this one ok. It’s a shredded chicken texture with plenty of liquids in the pouch. Little messy trying to open them without spilling. My cats go back and forth with eating shredded texture foods so this one will be one that I have to rotate. But wellness is high quality food so I’m glad my cat will eat it.
The short answer: my cat loved this stuff. The chicken to liquid ratio is excellent, with a lot of meat in each pouch. And, unlike some pouches, it looks like real food, not overly processed... stuff. Honestly, once I put it in his bowl I could have easily convinced someone else that I'd torn up some rotisserie chicken for him. He inhaled the whole pouch happily.The main downside is that this really isn't ideal for meals. The box says you should use 7-8.5 pouches per 6-8lbs. of weight per day. So if an average-size cat weighs around 9lbs, they would eat an entire box of eight pouches every day, which would get pricey fast.I do think it's great for a treat or to supplement meals. I have one cat who only likes chicken flavored food while the rest prefer fish flavored. This looked great when poured out of the pouch with lots of chicken shreds and a clear thin sauce. However my cat tried a few bites and then walked off. I can’t see why he would refuse it but cats don’t like to be predictable.
My cats liked this food as much as they liked their tiki cat wet food. The ingredients seemed pretty decent. It looks liked shredded meat in a liquid. But the bags seem really small. Its a smaller pack of food than most small cans of wet cat food. Im not sure if this is a good serving size for one cat or if you'd always need to open two bags of food. I also dont love using wet food from bags because its really hard to scrape out all the food and this was no exception. We definitely left a lot of food waste in the bag that we couldnt get out.
We received the wellness appetizing entrees shredded chicken recipe. I have 5 cats, only 1 of them actually eats the chicken. The rest like the broth but that’s all they will eat sadly. Otherwise they seem really interested but I might have to stick to pates.
I've been buying Wellness pouches at my local pet store for years now and added these Shredded Chicken Recipe pouches to my latest Chewy order last minute without carefuly looking at the products size. I have never seen these half-size pouches before and they are priced the same as what I had been paying for the "normal size" packets. Super frustrating and super expensive.
LOVE!!! This is great. I love the freshness of the chicken and how there isn't much other than fresh, good meat and ingredients. Besides my cat loving it, our dog does, too! Sometimes if he's being picky, I'll put some on his dry food, and he eats it right up!
