I usually like playing wired so there is less chance of battery running out but wanted something I could use in bed easily because I have had some surgery lately and cannot sit and game at my desk for long periods of time and this has been absolutely perfect. It uses 2 AA batteries. I find it best if you have wireless keyboard and mouse as well to get a few rechargeable AA batteries and have them charged as spares just in case something runs out and you want to quickly switch but if you are not using it constantly you can probably get away with putting in some fresh non-rechargeable batteries from time to time if you don't have a charger or want to pay for rechargeable batteries.

The controller design is nice and is designed to be comfortable to hold while gaming. It seems well built like my Xbox one controllers I've had for years that are holding up well. The problem I have with this controller is the faulty bluetooth connectivity its had since it was first sold. The controller would pair to my pc via bluetooth after updating the drivers for it but after turning the controller off it fails to automatically repair thtough bluetooth and has to be manually unpaired and repaired to my pc. I contacted Xbox support and after over an hour of live chat support they reccomended using the controllers warrenty. The problem with that Is microsoft only provided a 90 day warrenty with the controllers which I foolishly didnt use within the time limit as I ... I have been using the controller as a wired controller but feel completely ripped off as my xbox one controllers work flawlessy along with my now very old xbox 360 controllers. Seems to me Microsoft dropped the ball on this one and is not properly handling the issue.

This is excellent for both Xbox One and PC gamers. The quality of Microsoft's Series X controllers are great, and both Bluetooth and wired connections are wired. It does not come with batteries as listed, although the wireless Xbox controllers come with non-rechargable AA batteries. In my opinion, you are better off getting this wired controller and buying a rechargeable battery separately (which are only around $10).The cable is a nice length, close to 10 feet. It's long enough to reach an Xbox console that isn't too far away from the couch and is plenty long for PC setups. In addition to playing games with a wired connection, the USB-C cable can act as a charger for rechargeable Xbox batteries which is super handy.Overall I think this is a good deal, and is ... Just make sure to pick up a rechargeable battery. Given that this costs the same as a controller without a USB-C chord (which only come with non-rechargable AA batteries), I think this is the best bang for your buck in terms of Microsoft Xbox controllers available.

Got home, noticed the box had been opened already. I did store pickup. I pull it out and it's an entirely different, USED, BLUE controller. For starters, it is not the Red Daystrike Camo I paid for. Annoying, but I was going to just ignore this detail and keep the blue one. I took a closer look, and it is unmistakably obvious this is a used controller. It's dirty. Like gross dirty. I'm talking the kind of dirty, like used headphones that have earwax stuffed in the speaker holes kind of dirty. with scuff marks all over. Very irritated after that. I paid for a NEW controller. Instead I got a gross used one of a different design and color.
Purchased this controller in October and it's been a never-ending battle to keep it connected to my PC. I have a PS4 controller and a scuf XB controller as well. This is the 4th controller in a year I've had to replace. The weirdness of the bugs in this controller astounds me.First of all, I've updated the firmware so for all you flamers out there that will say "Did you update the firmware?" It's a hard yes. This controller works on XBox but not a gaming Alienware Desktop, it connects/disconnects/connects. Other XBox controllers work on the same PC... Same cords... The up gets stuck and even when you disconnect the controller completely the only way menus stop going up is to reboot the PC.
Really nice quality, fits great in the hands, cool haptic feedback in the triggers in certain games. Really did change the experience coming from an old 360 controller.Only nit-pick is that this thing is hell-bent on waking my computer from sleep. If i leave it plugged in and put my pc to sleep, the pc will just wake up 10 minutes later. So I have to constantly go into device manager and uncheck the "allow this device to wake my computer" checkbox for the controller. which randomly re-checks itself. OFTEN. Really annoying.but uhhhyeah besides that, this thing is a worthy upgrade from a 360 controller if you're a lazy bones like me and still haven't upgraded
So I don't know if this was advertised as refurbished or not but it's definitely not new. The box itself was beat up and looked like there was an attempt to open it. Opening the box, the controller looked nice and new but the wire was just stuffed in there. Not tied. The wire looked worn out too. New wires will typically have shape memory where it tries to retain the shape it was packaged in. Not this. Looks like it's used. On top of that, I've purchased a controller and wire together like this one from Microsoft's offical store before. The wire has the logo on it. The wire this controller came with? Nope. No logo. Don't waste your money with this. Just go to Microsoft's official website and purchase from there.
So yeah, this is the baseline standard for PC gaming with a control pad. The unit is solidly built, with a tried and tested design. Nothing feels mushy or out of place. Setup is a breeze, since Windows will immediately recognize the dongle and take care of the rest.BUT some caveats which ding the overall experience. If you tuck the dongle away behind your PC, then the connection might occasionally stutter or you get controller drift. So you have to maintain a line of sight. The design of the dongle, however, is a long thin stick of plastic that you don't want to leave hanging out the front of your PC on a permanent basis. So you're best off using the enclosed extension cable to have the dongle attached to the PC from behind while still maintaining line of sight. Also, the price is a bitter pill to swallow, especially since the packaging is pretty flimsy (everything literally tumbled out the box as soon as I opened it) and you really want to get a rechargeable battery pack on top of everything else.Would be nice if Microsoft simply offered a controller (not the elite) that had both wireless connectivity and a rechargeable battery out of the box.
Setup was super simple. Just plug in and Windows picked up the adaptor without any prompts. It also intelligently switches between the PC speakers and the headphone jack on the controller, which makes for a more convenient gaming experience. I could use Bluetooth but, for me, the audio support is a great addition which I’m using all the time. (Even with playing videos and other non-game audio sources). The XBox controller itself is a bog standard controller. It feels pretty solid in my hands and the weight and ergonomics are pretty good, so overall a worthwhile purchase.
I received my new Xbox controller and have used it for almost an hour and so far its ok. One thing i like about it is that it has the new USB C-port. But it is a new design so now I have to buy new rechargeable battery pack for it. My old old one works without the cover but its nice to have so batteries don't fall out as I'm playing and the sticks are a little stiff , is throwing my aim off in shooter games. But im sure once they've broken in they'll be fine and do the job. When i received it the box was in a unmarked plastic bag and the box and everything seemed to not have any damage when i opened it. I would buy again and recommend it to anyone needing a new controller.
