Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Velvet Radical Matte Lipstick 28 True Chili

I made sure to use this for quite awhile before reviewing it, because I feel like that results in the most honest review. This is probably the nicest lipstick formula I have ever used- and considering how many I’ve tried over the last 3 decades or so, that’s saying a lot! Despite being matte, it isn’t dry and does not cause my lips to become remotely dry afterwards. The specific shape is spectacular, in my opinion; I’ve used this in a rush and due to the squareness/straight lines, liner isn’t needed at all. And that was without any liner.The only negative for me is the shade, which is a very warm-toned brown. It’s pretty, just not particularly flattering on me (very pale, I look best in mauve tones and if I’m going for a deeper shade, I tend towards burgundy/wine types). However, I have a feeling it will look great this fall with autumn-oriented makeup looks, so now I’ll be saving it for then! For now, I’ll be reading other reviews and checking out swatches to pick a shade more suitable for me.

On the bright side, it makes my teeth look super white! If I'd chosen my own shade I would have gone with a light soft pink like 303 rose incitement or a beige nude like 301 nude pulsion.I did find that despite the claims, this shade tended to bleed and wander outside of my lip line. With the square bullet design and creamy formula it is easy to apply, but as with any deeper shade of lipstick it's a good idea to wear a lip liner. I also noticed that after wearing this lipstick for a while my lips were stained. The staining was an orange shade that looked like I had been eating pasta sauce and gotten it all over my lips...not a good lookAs always the Yves Saint Laurent packaging is beautiful and very lux feeling. The formula is smooth and creamy and comfortable to wear.I'm thankful to be gifted things for consideration, but in this case, it's kind of a waste since I'm not likely to wear this lipstick very often if ever again.

Just okay

This lipstick has a strong perfume fragrance to it, which is a little overwhelming on application. I don't particularly like the diamond shaped applicator. It seems like it would be a good idea at first, but this lipstick wears down quickly after just one use and then it is difficult to achieve clear lines around the lips. I always end up having to do clean up with a q-tip or concealer. The consistency is a little "too" creamy for me; it slides right off my lips. It is not transfer-proof and does not have good lasting power, which is somewhat normal for a traditional lipstick. I do love the color, but for $39, I'd pass on this one. There are many other drug store products that do a much better job.

Lovely Formula & Beautiful Color

I absolutely love YSL lip products and this new line of the YSL The Slim Velvet Radical Matte Lipstick exceeds my expectations. The packaging is very luxurious, sleek, and beautiful with the contrast of the matte black lid versus the shiny black base and the beautiful YSL emblem. The lipstick has a nice weight to it and the actual shape of the lipstick bullet is a diamond shape, which allows for you to carefully outline the lips using the sides of the bullet and also line the cupids bow using the top point of the bullet.I would say that the lipstick is heavily fragranced with the typical YSL scent - this does not bother me whatsoever but I can see how the fragrance may be unappealing to some consumers.The shade that I received is 302 Brown No Way Back. I feel this is a very wearable red because it is not an orange-red or blue-based red that may be too bold for every day. The lipstick glides smoothly and nicely across my lips without clinging to dry patches. It is hydrating, yet has a more soft matte finish. The pigment in the lipstick is amazing and I get full impact color with one swipe. The performance is not like a "liquid lipstick", but the color and finish does last at least 5-6 hours on me without needing to touch up. I highly, highly recommend this product to all my friends and family and am really looking forward to trying out more shades from the YSL The Slim Velvet Radical Matte Lipstick line.

Nice Luxury Matte Lip Product

I received this product for free from Influenster for testing purposes in exchange for my honest review. Overall, I really liked this product! I usually don’t gravitate towards matte lip products because I find them too uncomfortable, drying, and overall unflattering on me. This is definitely an improvement from others I’ve tried. It feels a bit more hydrating, only minimal cracking but barely noticeable. The only reason I gave 4/5 is because I didn’t love this shade on me but that’s not the products fault. Price point is not accessible to most people, I would’ve never thought to try this on my own because of the cost. If you are looking to splurge this is nice!

Surprisingly soft for a matte

I was so excited when i received this voxbox from influenster. Im not normally one for matte lips because my lips are normally on the dry side and i apply lots and lots and LOTS of lip balms and treatments to keep them happy and supple, add in a healthcare job that requires me to where a mask 8hrs straight and lipsticks dont stand a fighting chance. So double excited to try this. And I have to admit it felt amazing on my lips. Soft, moisturizing with a soft matte finish. Not drying at all. Felt like a balm not waxy though. Nude color is gorgeous. Did rub off on my mask but I expected as much. The only reason I knocked off one star is because I prefer clean, vegan and cruelty free products and YSL unfortunately is not known for that. The color was true to tone and went on EXACTLY how it looks in the tube and was vibrant. The color looked amazing, felt comfortable, and lasted all night when I went on a date with my husband.
