Boundless Maroon is not a shade of lipstick that I would normally wear. While I don't think the shade is a bad match for my skin tone, I do feel since it's such a dark shade it washes me out. On the bright side, it makes my teeth look super white! If I'd chosen my own shade I would have gone with a light soft pink like 303 rose incitement or a beige nude like 301 nude pulsion. I did find that despite the claims, this shade tended to bleed and wander outside of my lip line. With the square bullet design and creamy formula it is easy to apply, but as with any deeper shade of lipstick it's a good idea to wear a lip liner. I also noticed that after wearing this lipstick for a while my lips were stained. The staining was an orange shade that looked like I had been eating pasta sauce and gotten it all over my lips...not a good look 😳 As always the Yves Saint Laurent packaging is beautiful and very lux feeling. The formula is smooth and creamy and comfortable to wear. I'm thankful to be gifted things for consideration, but in this case, it's kind of a waste since I'm not likely to wear this lipstick very often if ever again. 💄

An Easy Matte

I am admittedly not usually a matte lip gal, but I think this is just about the best quality matte lipstick if that is what you are looking for. The pigment is excellent and application is so smooth. It does not dry out my lips the way some other matte lips do. The texture is more silicone-y, like it sits on top of my lips instead of clinging to them. It is not quite as drying as my Lisa Eldridge True Velvet lipstick. As with all matte lips, I would still encourage exfoliation before use to ensure a smooth application.It is not transfer proof (and doesn’t claim to be), but it lasted through an oily salad dressing lunch on me without touch ups. I don’t notice any scent as others say, but I can smell it if I look for the scent - it is not offensive or strong. I have only tried YSL lipsticks once, but wasn't too impressed, but I have to say that I really did enjoy this line. Shade 304 is a pink shade, but a little more on the natural side, but at the same time, a hint more brightness than your typical natural shade. It's not so much of a nude on my lips even though it says its a pink nude. Product wise, it was really comfortable on the lips. Felt hydrating, but also didn't transfer as much as I thought it would. It isn't marketed as long lasting but I felt like it held up ok throughout the day if you don't eat anything too greasy. It has a sweet perfumey scent, but not too overpowering. I absolutely love YSL lip products and this new line of the YSL The Slim Velvet Radical Matte Lipstick exceeds my expectations. The packaging is very luxurious, sleek, and beautiful with the contrast of the matte black lid versus the shiny black base and the beautiful YSL emblem. The lipstick has a nice weight to it and the actual shape of the lipstick bullet is a diamond shape, which allows for you to carefully outline the lips using the sides of the bullet and also line the cupids bow using the top point of the bullet.I would say that the lipstick is heavily fragranced with the typical YSL scent - this does not bother me whatsoever but I can see how the fragrance may be unappealing to some consumers.The shade that I received is 302 Brown No Way Back. The lipstick glides smoothly and nicely across my lips without clinging to dry patches. It is hydrating, yet has a more soft matte finish. The pigment in the lipstick is amazing and I get full impact color with one swipe. The performance is not like a "liquid lipstick", but the color and finish does last at least 5-6 hours on me without needing to touch up. I highly, highly recommend this product to all my friends and family and am really looking forward to trying out more shades from the YSL The Slim Velvet Radical Matte Lipstick line.

It’s actually more orange red, just like in the description, than brown, than I thought from images, and it’s a lovely color. I think it’s a beautiful color for Fall, but I’d still wear this any time of year if I wanted. It makes my eyes pop! I think this would be flattering for any skin tone.The applicator is something to get used to, with the shape being new to me. Beautiful rich colours; love the way it glides on my lips.Bought three different colours; cinnamon 313 which has shades of burnt orange; rose incitement 303 more of a dark pink; and true chili 28 a deep rich orangey/red colour.All the colours blend well into your lips; I went on the YSL site to see how to apply them.Well designed cases, very easy to pack into you make up bag; takes up very little room.Hope this helps you choose.
