18V Brushless line trimmer

Was blown away with the power from this little line trimmer. I have upgraded from a Ryobi 36V line trimmer, as I already have the AEG mower and batteries, and was immediately impressed with the upgrade in power and quality of this machine. Battery life is approximately 30 minutes on setting 1. I have had no need to use power setting 2 as setting 1 has enough power for the majority of my needs.

For years I've fought with the petrol trimmer and 240v edger thinking this was the only way to do it right. How wrong I was !!! Christmas gift to myself was the 18v line trimmer having already got the batteries from the AEG drill driver kit. Omg I'm converted so easy to use and no looking back now. Edger attachment next and then onto the mower for me. Petrol and two stroke you are dead to me now.Well done AEG !

Changing to battery power
25 February 2023

I originally purchased a Ryobi line trimmer. However it was only a single line trimmer and I wanted a 2 line trimmer. I swapped it for the AEG as it was a 2 line trimmer and I already had 2 batteries for my driver / drill kit. I have had a number of 2 stroke line trimmers in the past, but now I have decided to go to battery power.

Good functional line trimmer
19 December 2022

While I have a 2 stroke powered multi-tool with line trimmer, brushcutter, hedger and pole saw capability I needed something lighter and quieter for small jobs when it didn't make sense to lump the heavy machine around.I have a raft of 18 volt AEG gear including drills and impact drivers, jigsaw, a rattle gun, angle grinder, air compressor, inflator and 12" chainsaw along with a number of 5 and 6 AH batteries so it made sense to stick with the AEG brand. My experience with AEG gear over 4 or 5 years now is that its price, quality and durability fits in between home handyman and professional gear and the line trimmer seems no different. A couple of 5 AH batteries are more than enough to do all the work around a suburban block.

Great tool, well designed and made.
8 April 2020

I had a petrol trimmer years ago and gave it away. The fact that I already have AEG 18volt tools made me look at the Brushless Line Trimmer. Wow, it's good. Easy to put together. As I already have 3 x 4.0Ahr batteries I opted for the Skin version. Although if you want the version with 6.0 Ah battery is a very good buy. I really like that now I only have to press the trigger for it to operate. No petrol required or motor to service. The push to extend the line is easy to use. The whole unit is well balanced and it works well. I did the whole of my block front and back (650 sq m) and only used 75% of one battery. A quick wash of the head to clean and I hung it in my shed on the attachment supplied. Good one AEG.

It’s a little beast!

Bought on the 05/12/21Just a heads up - I already own AEG tools, batteries and the charger. So it was easy for me to consider the skin only trimmer, I did however opt for a petrol trimmer at first but couldn’t decide on which one. I changed my mind at the last minute and snagged the AEG trimmer instead. On a single 5ah battery with full charge I was able to do the entire yard front and back, thought not too big of a yard really. The 5ah battery is only just enough for me to do the yard which is fine but I will be buying a couple of the 9ah Force batteries for future use, one for the trimmer and one for my AEG Chainsaw.Basically done the yard on the low power setting and only used High power for the thick dense grass/weeds - high power made light work of ... MoreBought on the 05/12/21Just a heads up - I already own AEG tools, batteries and the charger. High power for general trimming is overkill I would say as it’s pretty good on Low power.Pretty quiet for a whipper snipper I didn’t bother using ear plugs it was fine to just cut without them. No battery overheating or anything was comfortably able to hold the trimmer anyway I needed to to cut.One thing which would be handy is a temporary throttle lock so you don’t have to hold it on, my wrist got fatigued over time but still manageable. Might just used a strap or something next time.Overall I’m really impressed with using the AEG whipper snipper/line trimmer, love not stuffing around with 2stroke fuel mixes. It’s really quiet compared to a Petrol trimmer, no exhaust fumes and less heat output if any at all. I bought 2.4mm line for it but AEG had some already fitted so it’s basically ready to go out of the box, put a battery on it and away you go.11/10 would recommend and I am pretty stoked for a first time electric whipper snipper user, will purchase the pole saw attachment for this as well and review when that day comes around. Cheers

Line trimmer is so much easier than a petrol one
1 January 2023

Bought this as I also have a Stihl petrol line trimmer but sick of fuel mixing and the heat & vibration from it. The AEG line trimmer is great. I ended up also purchasing the Edger Attachment as I have a lot of cooch/buffalo grass to contend with and this attachment makes mincemeat of it! Not too sure of the line that comes with the trimmer. Doesn't seem as effective as normal line, but could be all the cooch/buffalo I'm dealing with. Wouldn't use a 2ah battery with it. Tried just to finish off the last little section I had but barely lasted 10 mins; just doesn't have the grunt. The 4ah & 6ah last better (20 & 30 mins approx respectively each). Wondering if I should have gone with the 58v one as it may last longer but it would have bee my only 58v unit so stuck with ... MoreBought this as I also have a Stihl petrol line trimmer but sick of fuel mixing and the heat & vibration from it. Overall a good Buy
25 January 2023

This Trimmer was easy to assemble. The overall weight makes it light enough to use without a strap or harness. The motor seems to be strong, having 2 speed settings makes it handy. the only thing I found upsetting was the fact my 6aH battery did not last very long and I had to change it out for a second battery to complete my edging.

The older one was better
25 November 2022

This is my second AEG line trimmer after the first started to show fatigue after a fairly heavy duty use for over 6 years. I thought the new one would keep my trimming for the next 6 years but after a month it has already started to smoke after 15 mins use and seems to flatten the batteries a lot quicker then the old one did. Will see how long it lasts this time
