Akai MPK Mini MK3 Keyboard & Pad Controller

It's compact. It's sturdy. The pads are responsive and the keyboard is surprisingly playable for a mini. The newest version feels completely professional, and it just works. And that's all I ask from my gear. Just WORK, please. I've had it for a month or two, and so far it's been perfect for my needs. The only issue I have with it is finding more time to get to use it, because I have a busy family life.

Let me start by saying I’m a beginner when it comes to keyboards. I wanted a unit that could offer me many features so that I could explore all these new tools as I learn. I believe it is doing an excellent job in that role. The drum pads feel excellent, all the keys have nice resistance to them. Not weighted keys, but rather an active and almost spring-like resistance which provides solid tactile feedback. For the price and the features this unit delivers I would say that you cannot go wrong. I admit my status as a beginner limits the scope of my ability to know where the Akai MPK stands against the entire field of competitive products but I am very happy with the little MPK and I feel it has delivered an excellent ratio of features per dollar.

First midi keyboard. It’s excellent. Well made and feels great. The keys are plug and play so you can start creating immediately in your DAW. Drum pads can be remapped to suit your software instruments (EZD/GGD etc) too. Comes with some software instruments and an editor (this is needed to remap). Really happy with it and would recommend for anyone wanting a compact midi keyboard, not just beginners.

3rd Model

I like the series of MPKs this is the 3rd model I have purchased, and it is getting better and much more flexible in its usage. I love the endless knobs which redefines the unique sounds of each element. The responsiveness of the keys is far better than the first model. Along with the built-in screen allowing the end user to see what is going on. Overall nice product, easy to use and incredibly light weight and portable

A lot of possibilities

Overall: My first, after watching a YouTube video was able to make music on my Daw. Connected easily. My 6 year old was super find of it and basically it's his his now so I have to get another but he's been recording music with it on his pc. The keys can be slightly fickle. I've been looking for a way to adjust the sensitivity sometimes you need to be a bit firmer in playing, it's not as smooth as a regular keyboard but that's ok. For 100 something and a daw you can do almost anything. The pitch knob is fun. Octave adjust. The arpeggiator is a great hack to making good music easily. I really fell in love with midis I went and ordered a novation and nektar also. The size is really compact and portable and it's a lot of fun.

Great Akai Device

I went with Akai after using multiple 2nd hand Akai products. They make an intuitive key controller that has multiple use cslase scenarios, personally I have used them for FL Studio and Reason, both offer great amounts of control and and function. Currently I am running FL as my primary DAW, so I chose the MK3 specifically for it's baked in controls. Akai continues to offer a great, high quality, product and I continue to be more than satisfied with my purchase.

Great functionality for it size

I guess I didn't realize the keyboard was going to be as small as it is. I have larger fingers so I'm constantly hitting the keys next to the keys that I'm trying to play. It has great functionality and maybe I haven't given myself enough time to work with it. For the price. I'll keep it. It's great for traveling.

Perfect!

Getting back into producing and this is perfect! I didn't really care for the software that it came with because the sound seemed to be delayed. It works great with GarageBand so I'll probably invest in better software later. The manual isn't really detailed either so YouTube/Google will be your best friend if you're not familiar with the controls.

Review of Akai MPK Mini MK3 Keyboard Controller

Probably the most chilled 25 key midi keyboard on the market. I wanted something compact for my desk. This model is perfect. Super compact, good build quality (doesn’t feel too cheap or placcy), good functionality. Highly recommended for anyone with limited deskspace looking for a super compact, totally chilled 25 key midi keyboard. Oh yeah, the price blows everything else out the water at this range! You won’t find this functionality, or build quality and general feel, in any other product at this price range (trust me I looked!)

The MPK Mini MK3 Meets & Exceeds EVERY Expectation!!!

I just picked up the MPK Mini MK3 with the thought of having a new addition to my music setup. After loading the software in & setting the controller up on my laptop, I could not be more happier with my decision! First off, it already comes with MPC Beats, along with Hybrid and the Grand Piano software, so interacting with it right out of the box is beyond easy!! Plus the countless different templates and genres in MPC Beats makes for endless hours of creating music. All the things (& more) that I looked for in an incredible piece of musical equipment.
