I would call these headphones middle weight folding / portable with an above average reproduction range. However they do not totally block out ambient room noise. For the price, around one hundred dollars, they are a fair value.

These headphones are very articulate in the highs and high-mids. There is a hint of bass in them as well, but remember these are monitor headphones. They are not meant to have a lot of bass, and are meant for articulation. That initial tone was being ran through my motherboards built in sound card. But when I put them through my Mayflower O2+ODAC Rev. B combo the sound became a lot fuller. The true sound was being held back by my motherboards built in soundcard. So I would suggest using a type of amp and DAC combo to power these even though the impedance is lower. I'd say the sound is absolutely beautiful and great for a $ headphone! I'd say more along the lines of $ -$ headphone so if you decide to pick these up you will love them. But as I said early get some type of solid state amp and proper DAC that will give you the proper tone and fullness these headphones deserve. In terms of the build quality this is where they skimped a little bit so they can give you great drivers. But in all honesty these are made for the studio and if you use them as such I don't see a proble with the build quality. They are mostly made of plastic and a little rubber for grip. They do fold in slightly but upwards more like a DJ headphone. The hinge for this part of the phone is actually the metal part and is really sturdy so I don't see it breaking anytime soon. I do have two three year olds and they use them on their tablet ever so often so they can withstand some punishment. Overall for this price range I would give these headphones an 7.5/10 for sound and build quality. Reason because to get the most out of these you do need a amp/DAC to bring out the best sound possible. And the overall build quality is decent and they didn't skimp on the parts that move(hinge). I heard a lot about AKG headphones so I decided to get my own pair. I bought the K182 over the ear headphones. Right out of the box they sounded good. I am still breaking them in as I only purchased them a couple weeks ago. I listen to music at home using my iPad and some streaming services. Very happy with the Quality build and comfort fit. Give them a try and see if they work for you. Good Luck and Happy New Year.
The sound is perfect for monitoring with all ranges coming through equally consistent. I don't get other reviews that say the bass is underwhelming, you don't want it taking over if you're using them to monitor. It even sounds good with my iPhone X, although I wouldn't use them everyday for that purpose. The construction is solid seems like it will last. The headband adjustment is smooth and stable, satisfyingly clicking on each selection, and staying there even with movement. The muffs could be a little more substantial, but not by much.Overall this is an excellent buy for the money.
I'm a huge fan of AKG headphones, and the K182s do not disappoint. Very comfortable to wear during tracking & mixing sessions for long periods with little ear fatigue. Never have to worry about any sound leaking through. Highly recommend for anyone doing tracking or mixing!
AKG has long been a great choice for those desiring a headphone which delivers a flat response, perfect for long time wear. An excellent choice for monitoring while recording, I find these to provide no ear fatigue while recording loud guitars or drums. Comfortable and closed back, so also excellent for tracking vocals.
These headphone sound fine, but I found them to be uncomfortably tight -- like a vice grip on my head (or, at least, like industrial ear muffs). The tightness may help with isolation, but felt like overkill to me. I've certainly worked with closed-back headphones that were more comfortable than these. But of course, this is entirely subjective. A lot of people will probably love them.
The ear pad seams separated on both ears during the first month of use, exposing the inner foam. AKG had no replacement covers in a search of their website. What could otherwise be decent headphones are ruined by lax quality control and a mystifying lack of support through basic expendable parts -which should last for years before needing replacement anyway. Audio is alright for podcast or Zoom, but not in the same class as MDR 7506 reference headphones. After-market pads are one-third to one-half the cost of these headphones. Don't bother.
I'm using these headphones with a Rode NTG video mic.I've got the mic attached to my iPhone (USB outout) and the headphones attached to the analog output of the mic. This allows me to listen to the mic output while recording. Works like a charm. The mic has a volume control on the headphone output, but the low impedance headphones are plenty loud anyway. The iPhone is using the Merlin App for recording bird calls. I can now hear those call with clarity.
