AKG K92 Closed Back Headphones

Comfortable and capable.

Cheap, VERY comfortable, and despite *strong* bass, it's not overpowering. I bought these to use while gaming and as a second reference while mixing music. The bass is strong and definitely forward, but not overpowering. It's pleasing to the ear. The mids and high mids seem well balanced, which is where it matter most in my opinion.Build quality is good. Nothing cheap about them.I really have to say a second time how comfortable they are. My old studio monitor headphones were unbearable after about forty minutes. These can be worn for hours at a time with no discomfort at all. The faux leather on the ear cups is also holding up nicely after owning these for about two years. The build quality is very solid for the price, and they are extremely comfortable, but there are some issues with the sound.The frequency response is very heavily biased toward bass and mid-bass on most sources. When listening to a completely flat reference source, they sound mostly balanced and neutral.Running them off a headphone amp, or directly off an iPhone, the bass response is way too much.Looking at some test graphs, it seems they are designed to try an approximate the Harman Listener Target Curve, or at least, as much as that is possible in a set of budget headphones.It works on extremely flat sources, and gives a lot of detail, but they are not happy with "consumer" sources.I would not describe them as a balanced reference set. They are probably a good post production listening reference, or a good rehearsal headphone, as they try to aim toward the Harman curve, but they are not for hi-fi listening, unless your hi-fi equipment includes an absolutely flat headphone amp or source.

Good option for studio set

I needed a set of 4 shared headphones for a podcast studio. These are a good option because the provide the responsiveness of more expensive headphones without the price tag and the pleather ear cushions are easy to wipe down between users.If you are debating between the K92 and the K72s - The added range over the K72s is worth the price difference IMO. The main difference I've noticed is in being able to hear room reverb and slap echo. The K72s won't articulate those finer details. If that doesn't matter to you, then go with the K72s.

Great Sound and Comfort

I was amazed at the sound quality when I plugged this into my Focusrite. My guitar never sounded so good! I had a pair of cheep headphones that needed a 1/8th to 1/4 adapter and it was not reliable. I initially looked for a headphone that only had 1/4 jack; not many to choose from. This set comes with a screw-on adapter, so I'm sure it will provide a great connection for a long time. Another reviewer mentioned how comfortable they were even over glasses; I concur. I wore them for my 90 minute FarPlay session with another jazz guitarist and never felt any discomfort. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Not For Me

I have not used a headphone for a long time. When I decided to get one, I searched for online reviews. Came across the AKG K92 which had numerous positive reviews including that of the audio/videophile magazine What HiFi. The pro side is that it sounds really good for the price. The con is that it is almost 100% made out of plastic, obviously to keep the cost down. And so I ordered. When I received the order, I immediately noticed that it was very light. All of a sudden, I did not have a good feeling about it. When I opened it, I was disappointed with the built. Although I knew before hand, I was not expecting it to look & feel like a toy. But regardless of audio performance, I would rather spend a little more for a less platicky pair of headphones (I cannot even call it 'cans' because cans are normally made of some kind of metal.) I hope it last because I read a few reviews that one channel stops working after a short while.

overall build quality is very good. they look great and the twist off jack to 3.5mm end is very cool. positive is i can smash out my tunes from my third gen nano. i would say they’re pretty balanced from my two weeks of using them, can hear some parts clearer in some tracks compared to my other daily headphones. they’re great imo, and it’s not a bad price for them.

Value for the money.

I have been thinking about buying this product at full price. When the new years sale hit and they marked it down for %50 off I couldn't resist and I am glad I didn't. The ONLY thing that worries me about them is that they feel as though they are too lightweight. But in reality they have great sound and they are extremely comfortable even worn for hours.
