The first copy snapped in 9 months of mild use. After a month of fierce arguments between me, the local distributor and the manufacturer, I got my headphones replaced under warranty. 1.5 years after, half of which the headphones were not used at all, the second copy snapped in the exact place as the first one did. This is clearly a design flaw, since lots of other users report their copies snapping in the exact same place.The headphones sounded truly great, the sound stage is something I gonna miss. Yet at that price I think such durability issues are unacceptable. I regret choosing these headphones.

The headphones below are extremly comfortable and the sound quality is awesome, but they are not durable - at all. I consider myself a person who takes care of their things; however, it appears that these headphones began to unravel and the leather feel material failed to stay attached. I have a love hate with the product after seeing how they ear muffs are poorly designed. It made me skeptical to buy a more premium headphone from AKG, because I want them to look great. I've only had these headphones for a year and have used them less then 100 hours.

Which one you prefer is a matter of personal taste.The impedance of the k271 was 55Ω, while this k371 is 32Ω which may also explain these differences.My personal preference is the k271, but it might be because I'm so used to it.Build quality: the k371 is more sturdy, with fewer moving pieces and feels less empty. Despite being all plastic, it paradoxically feels less cheap. No rubber bands mechanism contrary to the k271, which is a very good thing. No double hoops either, the headband is one single piece (more on that later). The earpiece cushion are also softer on the k371 (the k271 had leather cushions). The earpiece shape is more oval (the k271 had large round earpieces) and may not fit every ear size.The k271 weighs about 240g, the k371 weighs a few grams more.Main reproach: these k371 become very uncomfortable after just a few minutes, to the point where they hurt. They're heavier than the k271 and the headband is thinner and has a very round shape. Although it's somewhat cushioned, the round shape makes it so that the weight is spread on a way smaller surface (the very top of your head), and it becomes hurtful. An illustration that comes to mind is that old torture method where you make someone kneel on a ruler. Here, same principle, but the pain is on the top of your head. I'm obliged to add a few layers of fabric under the headband to reduce the pressure.The k271 had four things that helped in that regard: the headband was larger, and the shape made the weight more evenly spread across the head. Also, the earpieces were larger and they put more pressure around the ears, reducing even more the efforts at the top of the head. I can wear the k271 for several hours at a time. With the k371, I'm forced to take the headphones off for a moment every 15 minutes.Another reproach : the earpiece cushions are not changeable. We could change them on the k271, which became necessary after a few years of daily use. Here, the cushion are not made out of leather, and I don't think they'll last as long as on the k271. Problem is, when they do wear off, I'll have to change headphones altogether.

I wish AKG would fit these with slightly deeper and firmer pads, maybe with velour cups.The build quality is good so far, but they do use plastic and a sort-of flimsy feeling cable that is very microphonic. If AKG build a "K381" series with solid metal construction, higher-quality ear pads, better quality cable, slightly wider soundstaging and better isolation, while using the exact same drivers it would be a total slam dunk.Regardless, these are fantastic, I can't recommend them enough. They are also super easy to drive, given their high sensitivity. They have low impedance so make sure your headphone amplifier has a low output impedance.
These headphones are phenomenal. If you want accuracy and detail, this is what you want. This is a big step up from the competition like HD 280, DT770, and M50x. The dt770 and m50x are always recommended as the best closed back for under 200, but they are nowhere near being flat and accurate. This might make them more "fun" to listen to, but when accuracy matters, trust me, the k371 dominates the competition. The m50x is such a scooped, v-shaped tuning, same with the 770. These are full, rich, warm, accurate, but still have enough detail and bass response for any kind of music. I use these exclusively when I need a closed-back listening and mixing solution. I recently bought these headphones from a company in Greece, wanting them for podcasting work and general use. I cannot recommend them or the headaches I believe they are causing me.While the look and feel of the headphones still impresses me greatly, and the wired/bluetooth facility was the final selling feature for me, I have to say that after a couple of weeks of use they are becoming almost unwearable for longer than 30'.The earpads are extremely thin and insubstantial causing my ears to be in constant contact with the cans, and as a result, the cartilage in my ears aches afterwards for hours. Additionally, the clamping force of the headband feels way too strong, pushing the headphones in at the base of my ears and the 2 outside ridges of the headband into ...
