Alessi Kettle 9091

The Alessi teakettle is beautiful, but defective. It does not always whistle when the water boils because the gorgeous whistle arrangement does not always land squarely on the spout. So you won't necessarily have any whistle alerting you that the water is boiling! On top of that, you can't slide the trigger into the slot intended to hold the spout open, because of flawed manufacture: the narrow area of the trigger cannot reach the slot because it is about 1/2" too short. It was very expensive at half-price; I can see why some other customer returned it. You should not sell this particular item, IT IS DEFECTIVE!!!!

A classic

I had to have it... even if he is not quite as practical in everyday life as a kettle. To infest it, you have to tilt it heavily backwards and keep the spout open. But still, a must have

Beautiful Melody

This is our 2nd Sapper whistling kettle, the last one lasted over 25 years. It makes me smile just looking at it, perfectly balanced and the whistle is beautiful.

Purchased nearly 30 years ago. Battered and stained, lost its lustre but still one of my all time favourite buys EVER. I ADORE THIS KETTLE

Don't buy this Kettle

I have just received this very expensive Alessi kettle with 'melodic Whistle' and it is not fit for purpose and has gone straight back in the box for returning.The thin plastic handle is uncomfortable and cuts into your hand and the plastic piece, called a trigger, you pull back is so hot you can't. Also you are instructed to clip it under the handle but there is nothing to clip it to.I needed to replace my whistling kettle, which I have used happily for many years, so I know this Alessi design is all style and no substance.

Gorgeous kettle

The kettle works wonderfully. We laugh everytime the whistle goes off. Its sounds like a musical foghorn. The main purpose of the kettle was quiet as electric kettles are so noisy whilst boiling. I do miss flicking the switch and auto cutoff but it looks so beautiful, so Alessi, that I don't mind.

Richard Sapper Harmonic Tea Kettle

You can spend a great deal of time looking for a quality made tea kettle. They’re are many variables to consider. Luckily for me the Richard Sapper Kettle had all qualities I was looking for. Don’t be fooled by lower price offerings for this kettle; in all likelihood they are imitations.

Useless !! Utter rubbish.

Oh how I wish I'd taken notice of the numerous bad reviews of this kettle online and I wouldn't have wasted my time.The balance is off meaning the weight of the whistle tips the kettle forward, the handle is as sharp as a blunt knife and hollow making it incredibly uncomfortable to hold.You have to fill the kettle from the spout making cleaning/descaling impossible.I took this item out of the box, held it, felt the faults and shoved it back in its box and took it back to the store.As someone else said...style over substance.If you are considering this sad excuse for a kettle I beg of you to not waste your money, go for the Tea Rex or Bluebird from Alessi.I can only hope that John Lewis remove this from sale to save any others from spending money for rubbish.
