This is a great and useful sauce pan. Handy to use and very durable. It works well on my electric stove. There was no scorching of the inside bottom. The heat was evenly distributed. A bit heavy but great in its durability. Easy to clean. Like that most of the inserts (re steamer etc.) fit into this pan. The price was steeper than other pans but this one will last a lifetime.

The 4 quart Sauce Pan has become my "go-to" pan. Diameter seems to be the same as the 3, but with taller sides. The extra height helps prevent splattering if I whisk/sir to aggressively. I find myself either grabbing a 1qt or this 4qt much more than a 2 or 3qt.All Clad seems to put the 3qt on sale regularly, so the jump in price from the 3 to 4qt is significant. But, I've been using "clad" cookware since the 80's and am sold on the durability and performance. Pots/pans purchase then are still like new in spite of daily use. They have outlived all my "non-stick" and anodized aluminum cookware.I have quite a few pieces of the Copper Core. They all cook evenly, heat quickly and look great. Better than my 3 ply? Couldn't say. But, they certainly look great. That's ... MoreThe 4 quart Sauce Pan has become my "go-to" pan. Diameter seems to be the same as the 3, but with taller sides. my lid arrived with some damage. Everything else was pristine. Immediately went back and forth via email with customer service and sent many photos upon their request. It was not an easy experience and eventually the line when dead. Nothing became of it and I yielded; not worth my time (good job AC!). Normally, I wouldn't sweat such cosmetic issues, but when your are paying so much for these show pieces, it kind of matters more. Just beware that if there are issues with the product you receive, a remedy might not be so forthcoming, at least in my experience. I get it. All-Clad has a huge rep and demand so no worries for them on these petty issues. But it still irks me a bit every time I use this one.

I love this pan. It heats fast and evenly, doesn't stick and clean up easily. That being said, there are a couple of negatives, based purely on my personal preferences. The handle is super long which makes it awkward with other pans on the stove and doesn't fit well in my cupboards. It is also crazy heavy, so I wonder how old I will be before I can't lift it! These negatives have not stopped me from shopping for more All-Clad products to add to my kitchen.
USA-made, always the best overall! My stove-top is not the ideal and have to switch from one burner to another to find that sweet spot when cooking from high heat to low heat or vice versa. USA-made All Clad products (I own a few, not specific on this sauce pan alone) helped with that issue because the materials and design of the products heat up the food evenly.
I love love love the Copper Core line. It is elegant along with being fabulous cookware. The pans are heavy (both in build and weight), but that translates to even cooking. They are not non-stick, but clean-up has been easy. If there is food stuck, a quick soak while we eat, and everything just sponges off, barely any scrubbing ever needed. As one reviewer said, just hit the pan with some water while still hot (think, de-glaze), and food lifts off. These pans will last beyond my lifetime. My only negative is I was building my own set of pans, a la carte. I do not need a big pasta pot as is included in all the sets. I do need a small 1.5 qt saucepan for sauces, small veg cooking, and that is no longer offered. It is a versatile size, especially when cooking for only ... MoreI love love love the Copper Core line. All my other copper core pots and pans work on my new induction stove, except this one. I am puzzled as to why. magnet sticks to all of my other copper core, but not this one. I would normally give this a 5 since it worked on my gas and electric cook tops, but it states that it is induction compatible and for some reason this particular pan isn't.
I bought this pan two months ago from Williams Sonoma specifically to boil water when we make pasta for the kids. Why? Because I got tired of cleaning my Mauviel copper pans after just boiling water in them. I truly love the finish, I love how I can just drop it in the dishwasher to clean it, and I love already having Barkeeper's Friend (for cleaning my copper pans) and how it ensures the pan remains pristinely clean no matter what got cooked in it. While my expectation was this pan would only be used for pasta, my wife has decided she likes it for all kinds of things, and because the copper layer makes very even heat, she's used it instead of our Mauviel pieces because she likes the performance and the easy clean up. Don't get me wrong, I'm not abandoning my copper ... MoreI bought this pan two months ago from Williams Sonoma specifically to boil water when we make pasta for the kids. Why? Don't get me wrong, I'm not abandoning my copper cookware by any means, but this is a truly fantastic addition to our kitchen, and if I didn't already have a rack full of copper cookware, I'd be looking at these for price, performance, and easy clean up.
I have an older 2-qt copper core All Clad saucepan that I have used for years and love it. I decided to replace a degraded nonstick lined 3-qt pan that was worn out. I have been bemoaning my lack of 3-qt saucepans—we are retired empty nesters and are cooking in smaller quantities. I naturally looked to All Clad to see if they had any 3-qt saucepans and happily they do! Two 5-clad stainless steel versions were available, and the copper core saucepan was a little cheaper, so I ordered two! I have already enjoyed cooking with them several times and can report that I am highly satisfied with my purchases. Well made in the US, nicely balanced. And they will work with the induction cooktop we plan to install when we remodel our kitchen.
This is an update to a one star review I wrote a few months ago. I had just switched to an induction cooktop, which their website says is product compatible. All my other copper core pans worked except this one. I contacted customer service and was told my pan was made prior to induction technology. Since it wasn’t technically a manufacturing issue, they weren’t at fault and there was nothing they could do. I was extremely frustrated as these are spendy, high quality pans! Hence my original one star review.Update: A bit later, a customer service rep contacted me and asked me to send them my pan. They actually sent me a new one that works on my induction cooktop! I’m so very grateful! I use this pan the most of those in my set and it’s been wonderful. They stood by ... MoreThis is an update to a one star review I wrote a few months ago.
